I don’t have chronic pain but this artwork is so nice to look at *^*
Just because we’re not writhing on the floor doesn’t mean we’re not hurting. We’ve just gotten really good at hiding it and functioning with it, otherwise we’d literally starve in our beds.
This also works pretty well for numerous mental disabilities, or just generally for any “invisible” disabilities.

Being abused can seriously affect your ability to distinguish between “not obviously pleased” and “obviously displeased” because abusers go from Neutral to Hostile for absolutely no discernible reason, and eventually you start worrying that everyone is going to be like that and you start feeling this urge to make absolutely sure that the people you actually care about aren’t mad or upset, because to you, “there’s no evidence that they’re not angry” is the same as “there’s evidence that they are angry”
I have never heard this put into words before but it explains so much. Even as a kid I was constantly scared my mom was mad just when she was making a neutral expression cause she could go from 0 to 60 with no other warning.
Omg I didn’t realise. I do this. I’m constantly checking that people are ok and not mad.
Because that’s what my dad did. 0-rage monster in a second.
Hyper vigilance over other people’s emotional state because of previous / repeated / continuous exposure to volatile people is seriously just…the most exhausting, fucked up, draining, relationship-fucking, driving-yourself-mad thing and it is so rarely explained well or talked about at all and I’m SO GLAD this post is going around. If someone is even slightly less than being 100% positive/happy/approving of me I pick up on it right away, even if it has absolutely nothing to do with me, and I fret and stress and am on edge. Which is so unfair because other people are allowed to have feelings and they’re allowed to express those feelings and it’s almost never about me anyway. And then trying to explain that you expect them to be volatile assholes when they’ve never shown any evidence of being that way, and trying to say that it’s not personal, is almost impossible. Because it’s always taken personally and how can they not, really?
THINGS WE WILL NEVER SEE AGAIN!
My childhood has pretty much been wiped off the face of the planet :(

Sometimes good posts are made by annoying people so I’ll help out
These are Safe Shorts. They were made by Sandra Seilz after someone attempted to rape her. If the fabric is torn, an alarm will be sounded.
This is the Rape-aXe, invented by a South African doctor by the name of Sonnet Ehlers. After interviewing a rape victim who wished she had teeth down there, she made this. If someone’s penis is inserted and pulled back out, the teeth will sink in, and can only be removed by a doctor.
The Killer Tampon (couldn’t find a site for it), made by retired anaesthetist Jaap Haumann. When penetration takes place, the sharp end will slice the offending appendage.
The Anti-Rape Belt (also couldn’t find a site), made by a group of Swedish teenagers led by Nadja Björk. It requires two hands to undo.
Anti-Rape Underwear/Bra (once again), as made by a group of Indian students. Will deliver an electric shock when met with unwanted advances, as well as sounding an alarm.
Undercover Colours. Made by 4 male undergraduates at North Carolina U, they change colours when in contact with chemicals or drugs that cause unconsciousness. Used in case you’re wary that your drink has been roofied.
These are just tools to help, but in addition to being mindful of your situations and staying safe, they can help when the worst happens.
Stay safe.
have y’all ever had communion bread that was just so….nasty? like i know we have to suffer as christians, but do we really need to have whole wheat bread as the body of christ?
my old church used hawaiian bread. my standards are high
Some old housemates of mine were Syrian Orthodox. At their church different members of the church took turns baking the bread that would be consecrated for the Eucharist. This was all well and good until one woman baked raisin bread. This led to the memorable occasion of a rather flustered priest, who had not seen the bread until that moment, declaring, “This - except for the raisins - is the Body of Christ.”
EXCEPT FOR THE RAISINS omg
Raisins are just dried grapes though, and wine is his blood so really its like a two in one shampoo & conditioner except with jesus

this is the only food critic I’ll accept at my restaurant.
Feeding your animals (safe) but new-to-them foods is botha great source of enrichment for the and endless hilarity for you. I reccomend green beans because they’re unwieldly for them to eat so its an involved process.

Carrie Fisher in Bright Lights (2016)
its weird being 18, 19, 20 in 2016 because i remember going into kindergarten and seeing those chunky ass giant computers at the desk and then going through school while technology rapidly develops and graduate in a world where people can have the entire internet and more just in their pocket like idk its so strange to me
sorry to add to the post but I remember in 5th grade when they invented the “smart whiteboard” and my school won one for the library and everyone lost their shit because they were so expensive and I graduated high school last year and by the time I graduated every single classroom had one. Watching technology go from glitchy and expensive to powerful and affordable within less than ten years continues to blow my mind
no but also like owning a flip phone was the Coolest Shit™ and you could take photos(???) and it was like so incredible, and it was all fun and games until you pressed the key for THE INTERNET and you knew you’d be charged so you pressed that cancel key eighty times and prayed to god that he’d take mercy on you…and then iphones became a thing and it was like unreal
Going from vcrs and huge roll in tvs to streaming the movie online and projecting that onto the smart board within the span of 5-10 years.
ok but do you guys remember before proper projectors were put in there was the overhead projector that could only read clear plastics and it projected using light and mirrors
Technology
remember when you got your first phone, and it had monoton/polyphone ringtones=? OR THE FIRST TIME YOU COULD ACTUALLY PUT A SONG AS YOUR RINGTONE 1:1 that was such a huge thing…..Also the first phones with coloured displays, 100x100px photos……god what a time….
I remember before iPods became a thing and I was in like 5th grade and I got a Walkman CD player (because regular CD players would skip and shit if you moved them too much and walkmans were like A+ technology that you could listen to CDs on the go) and I had like the whole case of CDs I’d take with me everywhere. Then iPods became the new norm and everyone’s mind was collectively blown
My great-grandmother went from being the first house in town to have electricity to emailing her cross-national friends in her lifetime.
My grandpa went from wiring his home for electricity to teaching himself DOS from the freaking manual.
God I can remember when I was so pissed about iPods because I couldn’t afford to upgrade from my CD player. Half of the kids at school were smug little shits about their new gizmos so I got picked on a lot. When I was surprised with a Nano for my birthday I was like “Thanks I hate it…”
Also the sound of Dial-Up was the scariest thing EVER.
I remember Gameboys! Like black and white ones. Now there’s Nintendo Switch and ps4 and im Shook. My brother and I used to play Spyro, Crazy Taxi and Crash Bash on a PS1 we got from a car boot sale.
I remember watching my dad play Doom (original one) on this huge grey computer we had and thinking it was the scariest shit ever
My first phone was a nokia brick with a pink dragon case and Snake.
We had portable casette players as children with overhead headphones! We had this big bag of them and I have Strong Memories of struggling to work out which side was A and B
Videos, dude. Manual rewind. Sitting below the television and watching the video player count backwards until you could press stop. If it had been rewound too much it went fuzzy.
We had this huge industrial bag of lego which had been passed down through a few generations and I look back and realise there were pieces in there from the original moon landing set
We had this weird Lord Of The Rings game with a little sword that you plugged directly into the back of the television and you could swing the sword and slash at pixellated goblins
Windows 95. Internet explorer on windows 95. Hospital Tycoon. Zoo Tycoon. Theme park World. Age of the Dragon. AGE OF MYTHOLOGY. ORLY’S DRAW A STORY.
