MY KIDS, MY DUDES !! here’s a quick little psa to let u all know i’m officially moving blogs. i was struggling to find muse to write my kids, so figured i needed some change. you can find the new blog HERE (same url!). i’m still working my way through pages and whatnot, but i do have my muse roster up (made a few big changes, dropped some muses, added my new g.rishaverse kids) so i hope to get back into actual rping real soon!

Emma’s eyes b u r n e d, and she realized she had gone without blinking for too long. Too careful, paying too much attention to every movement around her, every ~~shadow~~. She blinked, then, but only after Brooke assured her she was safe. And Emma breathed, too, for what felt like the first time since the plate fell and shattered.

She shifted a little awkwardly as Brooke sat down, staring down at the table between them but giving no signs that the woman was unwelcome to sit with her. Emma preferred to have company, actually. She felt like she stood out even more if she was alone. At the question, she looked back up to Brooke and swallowed dryly. Her fingers fidgeted under the table and Emma looked away towards the strangers crowding the bar. She gave a faint nod. “They got mad at me.” Her hand instinctively went to her cheek where she could almost still feel the STING of the slap; under her jacket there were finger marks on her arm. “I panicked and ran.”

Though Emma’s answer was expected, it did nothing to lessen the flash of anger that crossed Brooke’s features not at the girl, but at her family; and to a degree, to all the foster parents who made her go through the exact same thing. Her gaze flicked over to the other’s cheek, and though Brooke couldn’t see any injury, she didn’t dare question the truth in Emma’s claim.

“They’re never touching you again.” Her tone was sharp, aggressively almost, though careful not to startle the other. Brooke forced the tension in her jaw to subside, not wanting to scare the young girl off. “Stay here, don’t go back there.” Brave words coming from someone who didn’t really have a plan. Brooke couldn’t just keep her there at the bar and expect no consequences to befall them. Yet, in that moment, she found she wanted nothing more than to provide shelter to Emma, a safe place where she didn’t have to be afraid. “We’ll figure something out.”
