My favorite thing about Yuu so far is that it looks like she has one of those cursed anime-style chibi sprites (it's genuinely kind of hard to tell, but I'm basing this off of the proportions of her legs).

But because she's so. *gestures vaguely in her direction* fucked up looking, the anime-style sprite doesn't make her look any worse. In fact, I'd argue it only sells her weirdness better

I don't have Yuu but I've been dying to know what she looks like in live2d. Vivi posted these images in the discord last night but I wanted to see her for myself in motion. Luckily she does indeed appear in the event, so

I think it's interesting that unlike every other magical girl so far, she has this crooked neck. Even more interesting, it's present also outside of her magical girl form.

There's something a little off about it. I know this gal is like, 2edgy4me but I genuinely really like a lot of the design decisions made for her. She just comes across as otherwordly, from her witch-like magical girl design to how she stands differently from other magical girls, to her blank eyes and hidden mouth. I just really like it.

If any girl deserves to be void: it's her. I can genuinely believe she snapped when she made her wish and that whatever we're seeing now is someone very different from the person she was before. It's almost like she's an animated doll walking around, a body that doesn't know it's dead yet. I'm fascinated.

are the Magia Record devs still making new content or has it mostly been reruns recently?

Avatar

Good question.

It's been a lot of reruns, kimochi content, and Scene Zero (which ended recently). Scene Zero is notable for not being like Main Story/Another Story or being like an event-- it was primarily story content with no battles outside the obscenely difficult witch fights, of which there weren't very many (maybe 2 per chapter).

Kimochi is content but tbh it's not very fun imo unless you're a hardcore whale-- and even then, it's still kind of meh.

Therefor it hasn't felt like there was a lot of content as of late.

So far for the year of 2024, I'd say actual new content we got (that isn't kimochi or scene zero) is:

  1. New Years event (with Dragon Asuka)
  2. Valentines event (with Leila & Seika)
  3. Alina's Atelier (no new units)
  4. Magia Report event (with Madoka-senpai & Iroha-chan)

even Yuu's release doesn't technically come with a new event, it's with a rerun for Nagisas Wish.

But now that you mention it, this might be another reason people are so excited for Yuu's release-- it feels fresh and new.

I saw an article yesterday that Pokelabo is taking a more central role in development of the game. So idk if that means that F4 is helping with the writing and were help training Pokelabo. But reading the article made me feel a bit better about the situation with lack of content as of late.

Homura is just straight up one of the weirdest people imaginable. Like, forget about the time loop tragic doomed romance for a bit, I want to see what it looks like if she wins and then actually tries to romance Madoka. She has a massive collection of illegal firearms. She builds her own bombs. She lives in an ultra-modernist white box apartment that she's decorated with a couch made of concentric circles, a giant swinging knife pendulum to remind her of the ever-present flow of time, and a wall of several dozen screens. She communicates primarily in vague and ominous warnings and is more or less incapable of saying anything directly. She addresses everyone she meets by their full name with no honorific which comes across as bizarre and intimidating. If you count time loop years she's 26. She was raised in a catholic orphanage. I want to see her take Madoka on a horrifically bad date and cry in the bathroom partway through when she realizes she's fucking up

hey good news

there's a specifically designated role in the naked mole rat ecology for "guy who runs off into the wilderness and fucks their way into a stranger's house"

Y'all have no idea how absurdly strange naked mole rats are as creatures They're cold-blooded mammals that live in a eusocial structure with a queen and drones, similar to ants, bees, termites and no other mammal on the planet. They barely need to breathe, with a respiration rate low enough to let them thrive in burrows with 2% oxygen, and survive with 0 oxygen whatsoever for about 20 minutes with zero lasting effects.

They live for over 30 years, which is absurdly long for a rodent, don't grow frail with age, and are basically immune to cancer because their telomeres just never shorten.

Naked Mole Rats are rodents that attempted to evolve into bugs, failed, and unlocked the secret to immortality in the process.
