Well the first thing that happened was everyone got really excited for the hyped up premier of an iHeartRadio video of “unseen tour footage” which then turned out to be less than two minutes of absolutely seen tour footage with a cheesy filter on it, but the howls of outrage and memes made it all worth it, and the subsequent trending tag #WasThatIt was truly the perfect way to kick off the day. Dare I say, visionary?? A few hours later we all did the exact same thing again for the official video and then were SHOCKED when it was only five minutes long and also mostly not new lol. But it’s cool guys there’s more content to come: “a week of 1D” was kicked off (with the new and improved now HQ WMYB MV) which will be, uh, old music videos reposted in HQ wowwww (/s).
TPTB did post a new website and yes it DID crash, in fact it crashed so long and so hard and so comprehensively that conspiracy theories were born and died while it was still down, for example that it was meant to crash and was just a red herring for something else but at least they had prepared for the crashing: the error page was made with the #DirectionersBreakTheInternet tag (which had already been trending for days, they didn’t invent it, they were just being wink winky) on it. After enough time passed that it became clear that the website really was it and nothing else was going to be added, fans decided to make their own fun began discussing the phrase Reason Being showing up in a few places on the site and other places we’ve never been for reasons we don’t understand, and then fans snapped up Reason Being domain names to redirect to the 1D site and social media URLs to acquire followers by pretending to Know things. There are a number of things it probably isn’t (a new band name for contractual reasons is one they own the name 1D) and if I had to guess I’d say it was like a production company involved in making things HQ or something but frankly I do not know! Go fully off, it could mean anything at all! Anyway, at last most of Europe and the UK went to bed and THEN HQ was like GUESS WHAT WE FIXED THE SITE and also this is the right time to release this special twitter emoji… right?! Just in time guys, great work. Really. So finally the mysterious site was accessible and fans eagerly logged in to learn… that Harry used to work in a bakery and Liam is afraid of spoons. Need I go on? I truly can’t bear it. <I don’t know what I expected. jpg> but holy crap it’s off the mark even for them WOW.
