Kensi found Deeks in his board shorts on the back balcony facing the ocean. If he wasn’t in bed at 6:10AM, this would be the only place he’d be. “You’re up early,” she said, plopping in the chair next to him.

“Good time to think. Make some long term decisions.”

“Care to share these decisions. Now that we’re married, I thought we’d be making these decisions together but please, share.”

“I don’t think we should leave. We’d be really happy here.”

“The owners of the house may want us gone. Especially since they have the place booked through early July.”

“The next guests can stay at our place. Fair trade.”

“Not really.” Their Airbnb was a multi-million dollar condo on Zuma Beach. Deeks snagged the condo for the ‘not really the honeymoon’ due to a cancelation. Even got a nice discount.

“No, probably not.”

“If the bar takes off, we can franchise it and make millions. We’d be the new Applebee’s and living right here.”

“How about breaking even before we clean out our life savings.”

“The bar’s going to work but it’s probably going to take a while to get us a $7-million home.”

“Don’t need a $7-million home. Wherever you are is home.”

Deeks smiled. “You have been watching too many of those Hallmark movies and Netflix romcoms.”

“Maybe, but it’s still true,” she told him with a kiss on the cheek. “Settle any other issues?”

“I liked being off this week. I liked you being off, too. Maybe we don’t go back to work Monday and just live off the land.”

Kensi laughed. “You’re going to live off the land?”

“Well, the land, Ralph’s, Starbucks, Door Dash.”

“That’s the Deeks I know.”

“I liked being away from everything but you. But we’re going back to work Monday. One week for a semi-honeymoon isn’t enough.”

“Then we make it a point to take some time for us when we can.”

“When we’re not being shot at, running after bad guys and saving the world. Sure, easy to fit quiet time away with so little going on.”

“We make plans, adjust as needed and as long as I’m with you, I’m in a great place.”

It was Deeks’s turn to kiss Kensi on the cheek. “I think the romcoms are working on you.”

“Nope, it’s you. Always you.”

This was my father's ring. 

I first remember it from when he'd wash my tiny little hands in his as a little girl. He wore it even after my parents split and only took it off when he went on a mission. He'd leave it with me as a promise that he'd always come back and be there to protect me. And then one day he didn't... 

His ring was my link to him, and I clung to it desperately. I no longer felt safe, and I knew I would never feel that much love in my life ever again. No one could live up to my dad. 

But I was wrong. Because you came into my life, and you showed me what it is to be truly loved and feel safe again. There is no one in this world that means what you do to me. 

This ring was everything I cherished and now it's yours because I cherish you. Love is endless and I'm yours now and forever.

P.S. Don't you dare lose it...
