I don’t fully support Canon!Pansy Parkinson, but the thing is that Rowling close to make her into the mean girl she is because of pettyness towards her former bullies. Those bullies have not been in contact with Rowling for many years, and I am sure that most of them(Like many other people who bullied someone as children) regret their actions and have grown as people since then.

Another thing that’s really problematic is that Rowling and many of the Harry Potter fans are completely willing to forgive not only Draco but also Snape, both of which were actual death eaters. Pansy was a bully, there’s no denying that, but if Snape, Draco, Sirius and James can get redeemed regardless of their former actions I doubt that Pansy would not be able to adapt to new bored and opinions as well and grow as a person.

A common argument for forgiving Draco is that he was a child. Was Pansy not also a child? I mean they’re literally in the same year. If you are preparerade to forgive Draco for not only being a bully but also a Death Eater just because ”he had no choice” or ”he made all the wrong choices” then I would hope that you are also prepared to forgive the rest of the Slytherins and that the motives behind forgiving Draco is not because he’s seen as good looking but because he actually deserves forgiveness.

The only difference between Draco and Pansy is that Draco is a boy who joined the death eaters(probably to please his father or out of fear, but still) and Pansy is a girl who bullied a lot of people during her years at Hogwarts. Draco has made worse decisions than Pansy, and people are prepared to forgive him, but they keep hating on not only Pansy but the rest of the Slytherins.
