As always I wish a lot more feminists recognised that reproductive rights is not only about the right to not have children, but also the right to have children

Access to abortion is important, but so is fighting forced sterilisation, which almost always targets marginalised groups, especially disabled women, trans women, poor women and women of colour (and lets not pretend that doesn’t factor into why the issue is looked over by more privileged feminists)

They are both issues of reproductive rights and bodily autonomy and you can not have one without the other

love how it’s become completely normal and acceptable to say explicitly sexual shit to random strangers on the internet, especially if they’re women. girl on tiktok has more than a b cup? top comments on anything she posts are automatically “mommy sorry mommy sorry”. woman on the internet is pretty and also feminine? “submissive and breedable” like that’s not the exact kind of gross, infantilizing shit women hear irl every single day. i constantly see comments on teenagers’ posts saying “hey don’t sexualize her she’s a minor” like it’s not weird or misogynistic to talk about a stranger’s “mommy milkers” online so long as she’s 18 or older. fuck. maybe i’m a prude but i just don’t think you should get to make gross objectifying comments at random strangers just because you think the veneer of a mom fetish makes it #coolquirkyandprogressive instead of just creepy

and this is one of those cases where i absolutely agree with the “well it happens to men too” addition. bc it’s not subversive or feminist to spam random men with “looking submissive and breedable” or pegging jokes or whatever brand of sexual harassment is cool now. it’s just gross.

Mostly likely an RFID tag. A simple unpowered device that emits a signal when excited by an external magnetic field.

The fun part is that RFID chips are incredibly easy to break, and incredibly easy to clone/copy. Imagine buying your drink, then intentionally burning out the rfid chip with an extra-strong electromagnetic field and raising a stink because the machine won’t give you what you paid for. Free meal vouchers, maybe? Better yet if you can get behind the counter and burn out the chips on every cup at once.

You could also buy a cup, then scan and clone the RFID tag, and see what kind of system they’re using to keep track of what cups have refills left and which ones don’t. I’d bet money that it wouldn’t be complex or hard to reverse-engineer, and then it’s as simple as spoofing the correct information to the RFID chip reader at the drink dispenser, and you get 8000 refills for the next 99999 hours or whatever.

It’s shitty and dystopian when companies do stuff like this, but fortunately they usually do it in a very stupid way that’s easily exploitable if you have the right know-how and some tools.

I have a zero tolerance policy for transphobia in my youtube comments: if someone is maliciously transphobic even once then I not only remove their comment, I mute that user across my entire channel and add the transphobic term they used to the list of words that automatically mutes the comment. Since I started doing this I've noticed a MASSIVE improvement in my comments: like, the first video after I came out there was loads of transphobia, the second one less, the third one even less, and now it's been almost 24 hours and there's been like 10? This leads me to two related conclusions:

1) Transphobes aren't very original: they keep using the same stock phrases so it's very easy to filter them out

2) There aren't that many of them. It's just the same few hundred assholes every time.

This would also imply that even the most basic level of moderation would fix these platforms and the fact that these platforms haven’t invested in these basic reforms is on purpose

I’m so fucking sick of diabetes jokes. They’re everywhere, like people somehow think it’s ok to make fun of a disease like that.

“that’s got so much sugar, it’ll give you diabetes!”

first of all THATS NOT HOW ANY TYPE OF DIABETES WORKS.

Second of all, even if it was, and people ‘gave diabetes to themselves’, it’s just not funny! Who gave you the right to make fun of a literal disabled person just because you think they deserve it because they ‘brought this onto themselves’? that’s fucked up! All types of diabetes have a genetic component, and specifically for type 2 diabetes, you don’t know that person’s circumstances. Recent studies are showing links between type 2 diabetes and poverty, as sugary overprocessed food like fast food is cheaper and sometimes more accessible. And once again, there’s still a genetic component.

‘that’ll give you diabetes’ jokes are just not funny. They’re insensitive, and as a type 1 they’re just a constant reminder that I have a disease that is heavily misunderstood and weighs on me every day. I’ve heard like 10 in the past week and just now heard another one and it was the last fucking straw. DON’T MAKE THEM.

This is 100000% ok for non diabetics to reblog I would appreciate that very much

As a mass comm major, IF THERE IS SOMETHING UNJUST OR IMMORAL BEING DONE CALL YOUR LOCAL NEWS STATION THEY WILL HELP MORE THAN ANYONE ELSE

Cities and government agencies HATE bad press. This story that was told to me by the journalist that covered this, and he showed us the piece:

There was a traffic light that was set up on the far side of an overpass, but it was improperly hung so you couldn’t see the light until it was too late. There were accidents there EVERY SINGLE DAY and calls to the city did NOTHING.

Someone had the idea to call the local news station and this dude went out to see. As he was interviewing someone, there was a wreck.

Guess what happened after that piece aired?

Suddenly the city had the time to lower the traffic light and the accidents stopped.

Journalists get a bad rep, and while big stations like Fox deserve it, I think more thought should be given to who you’re actually shitting on when you say “I hate journalists.” Because we’re overworked, underpaid, constantly shit on, but we still do the job because we want to help people. All professional, prestigious journalists that I’ve met hate the government and will do whatever they can to get the information and change that’s needed. Being a journalist is a dangerous profession: at every professional convention I’ve been at there’s a fund for the families of journalists that have been killed (there’s a lot!) and a long memoriam roll.

um. fat people are allowed to be outside btw. fat people are allowed to wear clothes that do not completely flatter them. fat people are allowed to have their belly showing or wear clothes too small for them. fat people are allowed to exist in whatever they want and we dont have to constantly make ourselves look appealing + attractive. skinny people can wear lazy clothes and be called gorgeous but god forbid a fat person not put 100% into their fucking appearance every single day of their life

please dont ignore this post.. thanks..
