There was a quote in the original Sharks Are Smooth As Hell thread (which I can’t find, at least not with this comment, attributed to raptorific): Apparently for dudes who’ve got a compulsive need to be the smartest person in the room, “someone who’s wrong in a really stupid way who has unshakable confidence that they’re smarter than you” is their kryptonite. You can play dumb on almost any subject and their ego, their staunch belief that the masses are so far below them, will blind them to the fact that you’re just fucking with them, and as long as you don’t admit you’re fucking with them or acknowledge that there’s anything Off about what you’re saying, they won’t be able to stop themselves trying to get you to Respect Their Authority, and they won’t be able to see that will literally never happen.

A few years ago, I went to an anatomy conference and they had a huge 3D printed vampire skull, and these thoughts have been on my mind ever since I saw the teeth up-close. 

The under-utilized potential for this bothers me a lot… like in movies… it’s just bite and done!

1 I highlighted the vocal division here to correlate with where they fall with the meaning of the JP lyrics. The original was “織り成す勇気を / くれた君にずっと側にいてほしい” and would have translated directly to “the courage to weave it / I want you, who gave it to me, to stay by my side forever” and I think the way I have it flows more smoothly.

2 magic hour - most likely referring to the golden hour in photography 

3 何百兆 (nanbyaku chou) - this part literally means ‘some hundreds of trillions’ but there’s no way to word it in a way that flows smoothly in English. I made the call to say ‘countless’ which I feel like preserves the mood in context, but thought I’d point this part out.
