i'm choosing an oc i almost never talk about on here, alin nowak, because i've been writing about his relationship dynamic with faustus as a doomed relationship that will never work out. <3
- “What other reason would make me stay here doing fuck all? No matter what we do, I like to do it because it’s with you. Even this,” Alin settles a hand on his leg, a couple of inches above his knee. His hand is searingly hot even through his jeans. It makes Faustus’s skin tingle. “I’m here because you are.”
- “Forget it.” Alin looks up. Faustus is grinning, painfully self-satisfied. “By the way, if that girl touches you again–”
- Alin is fast to retort back sourly. “We can’t replace you if you break.”
- “I like them with teeth."
- “If I left you to your own devices, you wouldn’t be up til noon, dip shit. Now get up, I have something important to do.” Alin said, pulling the blanket farther away from Faustus in case he tried to go hiding again.
- “I want you now,” Alin grumbles against his skin, refusing to stop his initiative to mark up his neck. “I was thinking about you the entire show.”
- Alin snorts, and drops a kiss to Faustus’s thigh. “Not my fault you look so damn pretty like this.”
- “Yes, fuck, finally, hurry up–”
- “Don’t be a prick, you can wait here and I’ll pull the car up.” As if Faustus can’t clearly see the rain for himself, Alin gestures at the downpour. “Or do you wanna get soaked and then bitch about it?”
- "Shut up and sleep already, dickhead."

1. “Nay, I should have spoken my mind soon after arriving Slitherbough. Mistaken as you were to my nature upon us reuniting, I would not so easily cast aside that which you beheld.” They pause, a bitter smile coming to their lips. “A brilliant soul, I have been called before— nomenclature befitting Hydaelyn’s Chosen. And yet it is not Her light which eats away at me now.”
2. “I care in the loneliness that stood before me in the place beyond the stars. How it looked down at me and I wondered how I had not yet memorized its face. How it asked me if this would be the last time I would gaze upon its face, and if the ache between my ribs would leave me.”
3. Eyrie pauses, worrying their lip. “Pity—pity and sorrow ‘twas what I felt most keenly. Not truly alive, but never allowed to die. A most vile fate for a once great wyrm of the first brood.”
4. “Keeping yourself busy are you?” Alisiae asks, shutting the door behind her. They hold up the book idly, a sigh escaping their lips.
“T’was Krile’s idea. A measure put in place should my vision stagnate at this state, or deteriorate further.”
5. “I know, Alisaie.” They whisper softly, reaching out again to take her hands. Tinged with barely there warmth and stiff fingers as their hold her hands tight. “I know I am dying. I can feel it—beneath my chest, next to my heart. ‘Tis so very dark and cold there.”
“Then why?” She asks, voice tender in her throat. Fingers tensing in their gentle hold. “Why keep telling us it is going to be okay?”
“I would not have us give into grief.” They reply.
“Tis for the dead we grieve, not for the living. With the ache in my chest comes fear, but I would not give up hope. I would not see sorrow rob us of what time we have left. I would not see you mourn just yet.”
6. “Tis easy to peer from the outside in and question why your grandfather gave his life unto a people so fit to squabble and worry naught of any greater threat than that beyond their own borders. Your anger was not unfounded, Alisaie.”
“Still…I should have known better. What would grandfather have had to say?”
Eyrie grins, inclining their head towards her. “Oh something important I would imagine—he was oft given to providing sage advice…if asked or not.”
7. They look up at the sky stretching so far above—the distant twinkling of the stars.
“Ignorant I was to the horrors that would follow. All of my many long years in the wood had made me blind. To what one had to endure—what one would be asked to do; what I have done to my fellow man. There came a time when I stopped and looked back to see myself very far from the intentions that first compelled my feet to walk forward. And there would be no returning.”
8. “I can storm the tower, Y’shtola. ‘Tis simply…”
They rub their hands together, eyes narrowing.
“I do not trust my hands. Alphinaud tended to some of my hurts, but I was more afraid of his touch. Afraid of my own hands should he have found a bruise too tender or raw; what horrors a simple touch would invite into my head. If i had grabbed his wrist in my terror and broken it…how could I forgive myself for that? For hurting him?”
9. They pause, letting the words sink in as the boy deflates, working his lips in ill disguised frustration.
“Alphinaud.” They break the heavy silence looming above them. “I am not a sword to point at the enemies of Eorzea, or the Scions. I am not a soldier to be ordered about—told of my singular duty and thus committed to the cause without fear. Without despair or anxiety. Standing as a shield before the plight of a helpless world, begging for a hero to lead her to a new path. There is resentment there, Alphinaud—I will not lie. I love Eorzea.”

as much as i Love writing dialogue this exercise made me realise that i don't have many talkative ocs LMAO so. here is Almost every single thing i have written winter saying at some point (including old as hell t/w/c writing and unpublished wips)
- “I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to—”
- “I don’t want you to be alone. After,” she clarifies, voice thin.
- “...I don’t think he sees me that way. I’m happy with how things are, really. Can we talk about something else please?”
- “I think...you are probably the most handsome man I’ve ever seen,” she says as she pushes a lock of hair behind his ear.
- She laughs at that and ducks her head a bit. “It probably will. Thanks for coming anyway.” Winter moves his hand away from her cheek to press a kiss to his palm.
- She’s not sure if she believes him, but she’s not one to argue. “Well… I brought you some soup in any case. As a thank you.”
- As Faustus heads out the door, her mouth moves before her brain. “Faustus? Just—Um—Be safe, please?”
- “You.” A slow, satisfied smile spreads across his face. “Yeah?” “Yeah,” she breathes, fingers toying with the mesh of his shirt, her eyes following the movement of her hands. “You’re always on my mind.”
- “I need to know that you’re going to be okay,” Winter said one morning ten years into their relationship (his first and, most likely, last). She sat up from where she was nestled against his chest in bed so she could look directly at him.
- “Y-Yes.”
- “Do you…want to talk about it?” It’s a breathy question, nervous to her own ears, but by the tired grimace he pulls, he knows she is sincere in the offer.
- “No.” She clears her throat. “I’ll be okay, though.”
- “I—no? I’m sorry for not thinking about how you—”
- "I can’t hurt them—Tina, Verda, Haley, my cousins—like that.” Another pause, then she admitted barely audibly, “It would hurt me too.”
- Winter looked down at her hands in her lap. “I…” Her mouth became dry, lips unwilling to open and form the words. “I think you know why I’m asking.” She raised her head to meet his eyes. “I need to make a decision.”

Only sharing 10 here, this made me realize I need to finish more of my wips because I have about 15 fics I've completed for Cala total and not all of them have dialogue I really liked for this, so. that's some motivation I guess!
- “And so can you,” she growls. “What’s the fun if you’re only going to jump away? Put in some effort, will you?” - the sunlit spark
- Calantha rests her hand on his shoulder. “That’s kind of you,” she says. “But I would prefer having you next to me. I sleep alone enough as it is.” - before dawn
- “Some meeting it was,” she says. A smile tickles the corners of her mouth. “Both of us alone in your quarters, and somehow we lost all our clothes…” - clouded thoughts and sunlight
- “I wouldn’t dream of going back on it,” she says, barely fighting off the sarcastic note in her voice. “Give me a moment to consider what flavor of embarrassment I can still stomach.” - new friends, old fears
- “If you’re worried about Ala Mhigo, the negotiations – Whatever happens, we’ll get through it. We’ll have everyone there together.” - blame the rain
- “Love, hm?” Her words are slow, drowsy. “Is that what you’re calling me now?” - lazy
- “I did promise you I’d return in one piece,” she murmurs. “Remember?” - reunion

pulling lines for Avi’li, most of these are unpublished wips, i’m still new to writing anything so I’m happy I have this little collection tbh!
- Avi’li watches him, eyes half lidded, with the smallest upward curve to his lips. Not quite a smirk, but somehow just as smug if not more. Knowing.
- “Well met, Claudoix. Tis good to see that current events haven't impacted your mood. Or volume.”
- “You didn’t see them, Aym!” Suddenly, Avi’li is up, moving, hands wrested away from the suffocating coddling. “The way the empire beat these people down and—and,” he paces, “we only survived because we weren’t worthy of killing. What good are we to them if we can’t defend them against that—that monster!”
- “What’s a little spit between friends?”
- “Aye, here for all your blowing needs.”
- “Are you taking or leaving it, Claudoix. Quickly, the Lord Commander’s stress and dignity are at stake.”
- Pillow books, Emmanellain had said. But Avi’li is from Limsa, and he immediately knew the books for what they were. “This is porn.”
- Avi’li’s smile becomes a grin. “What look?”
- “Oh fuck off.”
