Harry In A Skirt šŸ˜Œ

saoirse.
Here to provide absolute chaos and the antithesis of cohesion as I sporadically post whatever my hyperfixation of the moment may be.

ā€œHarry get ur tits outā€ this and ā€œharry show us ur titsā€ that. This is blatant disrespect to his THIGHS. Harry show us ur LEGS. Wear a mini skirt Iā€™m begging you.

saw someone point out that in jackie's death dream she imagined shauna the way she's always seen her: kind, gentle and full of nothing but love for jackie, even though that version of shauna never completely existed, whereas shauna hallucinated a version of jackie that was incredibly mean and only made jokes at shauna's expense and acted like she's above shauna in every way, when that version of jackie never completely existed either. but both of those versions were the warped way they perceived each other. day ruined

saltburn is a romcom btw sorry to those who don't get it. pin in the bike tyre is just intentionally spilling a drink on your crush for the chance to touch their skin while wiping them down. embellishing a story so they find you interesting? been there. who hasn't drugged a bottle of champagne to kill them with when they don't reciprocate your feelings. that's what young love is all about

saltburn details that make my brain explode bc theyre so beautifully done

felix & venetia having matching star tattoos

the vampire scene hinting at venetias death

the catton players display with the stones ontop at the end

venetia telling the doppelganger story and seeing a felix doppelganger in the window (hints at felixā€™s death)

these r some of the details i really love that emerald put into the film & i feel like they add a lot

i think the tumblrinas are trying to make a sweeping moral message out of saltburnā€”and i'm sure there is one underneath the rubble, and i'm sure it'd feel better to have it out in the open. but to me this is simply a bonkers ass movie. this is having the silly figures on the screen go absolutely mental. this is lust and greed and the behavior of people who are generally unwell. it is two very handsome men circling each other like satellites. it is really fantastic lighting. and it is me in a darkened movie theater, curling into my seat, sitting behind a row of people who will leave the theater early or immediately as the credits roll, watching with disgust and horror and delight as barry keoghan commits acts that really only ought to be between him and god.

Butchered Tongue is so....

There's something painful about being completely cut off from the culture of your ancestors. You know that there was once a connection there but its gone now and you have no idea how to get it back. You're just stuck wondering when and why things didn't get passed on to your parent or grandparent. Why did they let you assimilate?

Knowing that if your grandparents went to participate in your lost culture, they would be reclaiming it. But somewhere in the generations there is a point where it crosses from reclaiming your culture to being a tourist. And you're pretty sure that you fall directly on the other side of that line.

All you get is an heirloom or two, and a surname no one can pronounce. And that's it's you're lucky.

self proclaimed leftists with entire graduate degrees on twitter not understanding that tourism in places like latin america and the caribbean is a form of neocolonialism even in places where the national economy is dependent on it. just because the government is making money off of ur lil excursions and hotel stays doesnā€™t mean regular citizens are, especially in your fave ā€˜tropical getaway spotsā€™. the fact that sandals wanted to build an entire resort in tobago where my family lives might sound great for the economy or whatever until you realize that they wouldā€™ve closed off several acres of land and made it inaccessible to non-tourists which is fucking insane thing to even propose on such a small island. like iā€™m sorry but do you really think my family is grateful when you crackers come to visit during the winter?? do you really think your presence adds value to their lives?? when the govt invests money in ports but not paving the fucking roads anywhere thatā€™s not downtown/vacation home territory?? you white losers need to put down ur marx for like half a sec and pick up a small place by jamaica kincaid. ā€‹like lol if you wanna be a tourist be a tourist but donā€™t fucking act like anyone who refers to it as a contemporary form of colonialism is doing too much. ESPECIALLY when this sentiment is legit coming directly from the people living in the getaways you love to visit. i genuinely donā€™t understand how yā€™all can grasp the ā€œthere is no ethical consumption under capitalismā€ shit but canā€™t understand this.

tourists visit a place where the livelihoods of the 5% of the population they actually interact with are dependent on how well theyā€™re able to kiss their asses and make them feel like theyā€™re the most important people in the world and somehow they genuinely believe that this translates to all of the locals actually liking, respecting, and needing them.

Iā€™ve heard Butchered Tongue a few times, and I know this song is supposed to be about the violence of the colonization of Ireland, and the fight to survive of a language, and how there are scars left in the language that will never heal, but like as someone from a country that was colonized, and this colonization erased a big amount of the indigenous culture, this song is a love letter to the indigenous population thatā€™s often overlooked, and suffered from great damage from the colonization, most of the country worships a foreignerā€™s god, and speaks a tongue that isnā€™t ours, thereā€™s barely an echo of our indigenous culture in our daily lives, and hearing someone speak an indigenous tongue is pretty much a miracle, the story of who we are as a country was erased by colonization, and this song is a reminder of what was taken from us.
