CHANGES FROM PERIIPHONA.

This blog is a revamp of my previous fandomless OC, Anara Koredio

Her main verse is dramatically different. She has a softer backstory and is now half fox spirit girl who works at a sweet shops called Camellia Sweets. It is set in a generic fantasy town where all types of fantastical beings and magic exists. Anara only being half fox spirit has the magic to slightly manipulate people’s emotions with her confectioneries and baked goods. Her one goal is to continue to keep the sweet shop open and pay for her father’s treatment at the hospital. Her dream is something a little different, however, and that will be revealed through rping.

Her personality is a quite a bit shyer than previously roleplayed due to it fit better with the backstory and new faceclaims I have made for her. So, if we have a thread that carries over from periiphona, she will be rped as a shyer individual who is more softspoken but still brimming with the joy and sunshine you all know and love.Thanks.

I am making Anara have a faceclaim change [because a complete fresh start is good] and a slight personality change. Also she is part Fox because the manga artist makes her ears grow larger by the end of the manga so they no longer look like kitty ears. She will be shyer than she was on the NEW account. It works better with her new backstory. But here are some snapshots of who I am using! Hopefully you like!! These are before my typical overlay.

Honestly, the writers break the (admittedly very loose) rules that’ve been set for the RWBY-verse pretty often (Klein Sieben, for example, definitely doesn’t fit the color rule for names, and we still don’t know the full extent of what Dust is capable of/incapable of). Even if the rules were super strict and defined in canon, it’s still really cool and fun to see people’s characters that they’ve created by making the rules work for them! It shows a lot of effort and
creativity on the OC creator’s end, that they’re dedicated to their idea of the character and want to make it work.

PREACH IT, DEV!

So does this mean even OC's that don't exactly fit the 'Character Rules' for RWBY are okay too? I've gotten the name themes down right but as far as dust and the current setting went I couldn't make the characters I wanted to portray so I either bent, broke, and or imported rules to make something I wanted

For the RWBY fandom, in general, I feel like you don’t have to suffer that much because you can go outside of dust usages, etc… Your character may be a shopkeeper, a wandering merchant, a person who uses a normal weapon *gasp* because they exist. They really do. And the name themes can be bent a bit, because it’s just a name. If someone gets caught up because your character doesn’t fit the character naming rules, don’t bother with them. You can’t cookie cutter into every fandom and sometimes, you just have to accept that. BUT there are still people willing to rp with you within any fandom, including RWBY. Just ask them if you are confused about the general stuff like dust, weapons, etc… and I am sure a majority of them would be happy to explain to you what it is.

And maybe you can make your character and their RWBY character exist an AU to make things simpler on you both. I love AUs so that may just be a preference of mine but compromise between both of you seems best. As rpers, we both have to give and take. If they won’t give you any leeway EVEN AFTER ALL YOUR EFFORTS, it’s probably best to step away from them. I hope this helps and that I answered your question! I am sorry if I did not.

I'm not doubting that female OCs have had it worse off, I've seen it and experienced that myself. Though with my current OCs, it's my male muses that have hardly gotten any attention. One of my female muses is actually my most popular muse out of my bunch even with how little interaction any of my characters get over all.

Hugs you. Male OCs deserve so much love too. It may just be my experience and I am sorry for putting that bias in there. I hope you get lots of love and appreciation.

What do you think of crossover OC's? Belonging to two or more fandoms simultaneously , it was out of their personal preference but the second I revealed my character wasn't entirely RWBY they suddenly didn't want anything to do with me despite the pleasant character to character exchange going on moments before, the other fandom my character is part of isn't anything obscene or offensive (pretty sure)

Ahh, why don’t you just step into my office.

Let me tell you this. That person you were interacting probably doesn’t understand the meaning of AUs or just didn’t want to listen to you which is shame on them! There is a glorious thing called alternate universes where your character canon or original can play. You want a RWBY character to exist in RWBY but also be in the Voltron fandom. Boom done. So your original character can exist in both universes, no problemo. And if your OC has traits from both fandoms, so be it. People should respect your character for who she/he/them are. Not for what fandom label you put on them.

Appreciate OCs

Before I remake this blog, I got to get one thing off my chest. Appreciate and interact with original characters. Yeah, I know there are douchebag OCs who are overpowered or only want romantic ships, etc.. BUT DON’T LABEL THE MAJORITY BY THE MINORITY. Especially, if it’s a person you know who has a canon muse and is a nice mun. They aren’t going to change into a completely mean person just because they have an original character.

As a person with quite a few original characters, lemme tell you:

  • It takes time to get their personalities just right so they don’t come off as a mary sue/gary stu
  • If you have a female OC, good luck getting interactions because it’s 4x as hard for them [us]
  • It takes time to get a faceclaim that works just right OR if you draw your characters you will be forever in icon hell.
  • And once you get that faceclaim. The manga/comic/anime caps can take DAYS if you are doing them by hand. Then you have to resize them, color them, put overlays on theM.
  • A LOT of times your faceclaim doesn’t have renders so you gotta do that yourself and design a flipping background for a container so you look “cool” because some reason you will be overlooked just because you don’t have it [WHICH SHOULD CHANGE!]
  • Backstory. Backstory. Backstory. It takes days of research to come up with this stuff and if you are building a world…holy guacamole. Some people draw maps, do languages, and even draw EVERYTHING.

And you know what? MOST OF THE TIME PEOPLE DON’T EVEN READ YOUR SHIT. LIKE ALL THAT RESEARCH AND DEDICATION DOWN THE DRAIN.

So. PLEASE. Respect original characters. Try interacting with them. If you’ve had a bad experience, I understand. But if it’s a person you’ve interacted with before [as in canon muses] then please try to interact with their OCs at least. Maybe expand your horizons after. Trust me there are so many fun OCs out there with the sweetest muns who deserve love and respect.

Sincerely,

An OC creator

I AM ADDING THIS ADDENDUM, BECAUSE IT IS IMPORTANT AF.

May I add to your earlier post that not all OC muns that don't run canon blogs are mean and that sadly there are mean canon blogs out there so don't think it's just the OC's that have bad apples, as a muns who hasn't ever ran a canon blog in this fandom I'm tired of the divide between the two, we're supposed to be one fandom and playing canon or OC should not matter, there are canon blogs that alter the characters to the wings, just as there's OP OC's can't we all just get along and have fun?
