why do authors kill their own series like this

honestly reading through new moon again, the only part that matters is pages 120-376 and the last couple pages are great because B has acTUAL CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT like thank you stephenie meyer, look you gone done and messed up. because throughout this part we have B basically being immature and refusing to confront her heartache (which you HAVE to do in order to heal) and then as time goes on she grows to love J and starts to *finally* begin processing her feelings. and then the last couple pages are the best / worst because she freakin realizes what an idiot she’s been and decides to, in her own words, act like an adult, and she decides to finally be 100% honest with J about everything and she’s finally handling things and being mature and deciding to try the whole love thing again but this time with a healthy relationship that isn’t built off of manipulation and arguably borderline hypnotization but instead off of mutual trust, respect, appreciation and care for the other person and honestly this could’ve turned the series into a FANTASTIC one by making it about the whirlwind that is first love, how it all feels and then getting over that and realizing that love isn’t dizzying, it is safe and warm and right and home and it would’ve been SUCH a great coming of age story if meyer would’ve just stuck with that. I mean we’d get B and J both learning how to love right, and how to mature and stuff and it would’ve been so so great. but no, instead meyer takes that beginning sprouts of character development and growth and great story potential and completely DASHES IT AGAINST THE CLIFFS by the monstrosity that is pages 377 to the end of the series. this makes me so mad because there was so so much potential and she just completely wastes it and all the maturing and growing and bettering of herself that B has begun just completely goes away and she reverts back to 16yo version of herself for the rest of the series and is basically a bad character and really crappy person to everyone she knows. I am so mad why would anyone do this to their characters I’m done bye

ok Twilight fam time to do what we do best: ignore canon

The thing that really kills me about the Jacob imprint is that it's not necessary like, at all.

Breaking Dawn makes it seem like it might be, like it's the thing that keeps Jacob from killing Renesmee, the thing that makes the Cullens and wolf shifters put their differences aside. The reason Jacob tells Charlie about the supernatural so Bella can stay in Forks.

But in Forever Dawn, Jacob didn't imprint on Renesmee until weeks later when Bella is visiting Charlie.

Which means:

a) baby was born, no wolves killed her or the Cullens b) Bella somehow got to keep Charlie around without Jacob being involved

So, yeah. She had ways to make it work when Jacob hadn't imprinted yet, so the imprint is thus not even narratively necessary. It's 100% a weird author choice that she inflicted on the one character who was vocally against the idea of imprinting, and THEN she sucks all the potential drama out of that by just making him instantly happy about it. SAM still was enough of himself to feel bad about hurting Leah; there's not enough of Jacob left to even try to fight this? That would have been way more interesting and much more in keeping with his character.

Signal boosting for everyone who got a horrible shock today: FFnet has not vanished. Someone just registered a near identical url, reminding us that the “www” matters and that they’re an asshole. >.<

people have been telling you to back up your fics for like years at this point. this is your signal to do it now. if this doesn’t make you do it you have nobody to blame but yourself. nothing on the web is permanent, except the stuff that keeps moving.
