• ruby has dimples that are more prominent when she smiles !
• she unlocked her semblance during a training / sparring session with qrow and she had little to no control over it when it first manifested. it took her a while ( up until i’d say vol3 - vol4 ) for her to fully master it.
• upon getting the mandatory assignment that they ( signal students ) would have to build their own weapons , ruby came home immediately excited and the first thing she did was look to qrow’s weapon , harbinger , as a source of inspiration. she stayed up all night building crescent rose. note : she uses she / her pronouns to refer to her weapon.
• ruby’s red cloak is a hand - me - down from her mother and she rarely lets anyone who she isn’t close to ( familial and / or friend wise ) touch it. at all ! so don’t even ask , look , + attempt to touch.
• despite being left handed / dominant , ruby is ambidextrous though more - so left hand favored / leaning.

💭 + how did summer feel when she found out that she was pregnant with ruby? given that ruby is her first & only child, how did she also feel about motherhood + the prospect of becoming a (new) mother?
i feel like it’s very important for me to say that ruby was not summers first and only child, as yang is every bit summers daughter as well.
as for her reaction to becoming pregnant, she was nonetheless ecstatic and thrilled to have ruby. i like to think that yang was very very excited to have a little sister as well and summer being pregnant with ruby brought the two of them closer together.
as for when ruby was born, i feel like the reality of it slowly started to set in. when ruby opened her eyes and summer saw they were silver, she felt nothing but guilt and fear on a day that was supposed to be joyous. she didn’t sleep for months because of how terrified she was for the safety of ruby, but that didn’t stop her from loving her baby and doing everything she could to keep her safe.
