when do you plan to start making chapters for Ethan? I'm really interested in his section of the story.

after this flashback sequence i plan on switching to ethan’s side of the story! overall my plan is to switch between perspectives with flashbacks sandwiched between each section to bridge the gap so to say.

Hey do you have any tips on making comics/stories? Just like... In general. Side note I love your blog!!

aww tysm!! man you are asking the wrong person but what i’m doing for alvin’s infurno is having a rough outline of each character’s arc and story along with their motivations. that way its loose enough to change around as i get new ideas but not so loose that i run out of steam and have no idea where to go.

i follow this template.

write a one sentence summary of your story/character/arc

expand that sentence into a paragraph

expand that paragraph into three paragraphs, summarising the whole thing, beginning and end

boom. thats your outline for your story.

and for characters specificially i’ve been using this template

character name

one sentence of summary of the character’s story

what the character ultimately wants

what the character ultimately needs

what’s preventing them from getting what they want and need

what they ultimately learn and how they change

and you can use that first method for every scene if you want. think about what you’re accomplishing with each scene and what the ‘arc’ is for each one. is there an argument? what are we establishing? etc etc

hope this was coherent lol!!

ALSO!! the most important piece of information for me was this!!

work with your limits

if you know your motivation comes in short spurts, structure your story so it can be told in short spurts. so for alvin’s infurno i’m telling it in snippets of short little scenes.
