Breeds For All Needs Update

If the GoS theme this month wasn't a sign that I needed to get back to my Breeds For All Needs project I don't know what is!

Now for those of you who DON'T know what this is - essentially I wanted to remake all of the breeds from TS1-TS4. I also linked existing pet breeds by other creators when I found ones I liked. And then I got distracted and forgot about it.

As a refresher, here's a complete list with links to those I have already completed - please note some of these breeds I -have- done but part of the project is including links to other creators so I haven't made the official post yet:

Barnyard Bash - Tools & Hogs Update

Pigs have been having issues for a while now and would constantly die despite food and water being present on the lot. Naturally, this was a relatively simple issue that took us months to find and fix. There's always something... In any case, please re-download the set.

Changelog

  • Pigs will no longer randomly die of starvation despite food being present
  • Fixed pig pregnancy issues
  • The Mud Wallow has been repositoried to the BB Niche
  • The inventory tools included have been updated to the newest, most optimized versions

Update instructions: In case of doubt, REPLACE ALL FILES. Files affected: mud wallow, all pigs, all accessories and inventory tools.

Accessories & Tools - Optimization update March 11 2024

Hello everyone, a small update today. A number of inventory tools and accessories have been optimized. At the moment of writing, the updated accessories have not been added to the sets they belong to, but as we continue updating, we will include these new versions, of course.

Changelog:

  • Texture optimization for a large number of files, bringing the total file size for tools + accessories down by about 10 MB
  • The small harvest basket has been repositoried to the regular harvest basket.
  • Fixed incorrect descriptions for a number of inventory tools
  • BONUS: The butter churn pole has been localized in Dutch, Portuguese (EU & BR), French, Spanish, Russian, Polish and Finnish. Call it a preview for the upcoming dairy consolidation.

Differences between DXT5 / DXT3 / DXT1

The images above are all imported with SimPe's Built DXT... option, and then exported for previewing. The short version is:

You can't go wrong with DXT5 :)

I'll go through the differences under the cut.

Very useful for the future. Thanks for explaining :)

Making your own career/NPC outfits (and attaching them to custom and default careers)

I’m just compiling them and adding results of my own experimenting. It will be pretty long, so everything is under the cut.

Finally finished with merging & compressing my whole Downloads folder...

My game has gone from:

14.5 GB -> 10.7 GB

52,500 Files -> 8,500 Files

2,300 Folders -> 440 Folders

Around 10 Minute Game Start Time -> 30 Second Game Start Time

I've also tided up some others bits: Removing long file names, removing special characters on file names & lastly edited unnecessary objects showing fully on lot imposter/hood view. (So many bed blankets & pillows showing up fully in the lot imposter...)

This really took so long but the load speeds are amazing!

It's bad enough that I have actual anxiety when it comes to doing my lessons daily, as to not lose my streak. But, now I've been told that this stupid little green owl will never ever leave me alone.

Is this a promise . . . or a threat? Lol??

Sims 2: Andorian Skins (& Antennae)

Three shades of blue, plus a hybrid blue-green and an Aenar skin. Also includes matching antennae using Nixnivis's Andorian Antennae. These are based off of @dreadpirate's Party For One, as usual, and are customized and not townified.

The downside about being customized is that Andorian/Aenar hybrids won't get the skin automatically applied, instead it'll be a 50/50 based off of the parents. To fix that, you would need to change the child's skintone in SimPE. Here is the code for the hybrid skin for convenience:

cb9968e3-43fd-f592-d818-8ebd6b1547ec

Anyway, both the skin and antennae are included in the zip file. Models are, from left to right, Aenar on adult female, hybrid on child female, Dark Blue on adult female, Light Blue on elder male, and Medium Blue on teen male.

It might be time for me to try a Scifi Hood again . . .

TS2: Blacksmith’s Forge & Belllows

Something for Sims 2 for a change! I converted the blacksmith’s forge with bellows from the Sims Medieval and here it is for your use as well!  It’s a deco item but I think it fits really nicely with NixedSims's awesome blacksmith’s crafting station that has the ability to make swords and other items.

NOTE: You need to use “moveObjects on” cheat to place the items in place as they are in the 1st and 2nd previews pictures.

Mesh details:

  • This download adds 3 new meshes & objects into your game:
  • 1) Forge
  • Polygons: 542
  • 2) Coal
  • Polygons: 344
  • 3) Bellows
  •  Polygons: 1292
  • All meshes are recolorable

Prices in game and where to find the objects:

  • Forge (found in sculptures): 600 Simoleons
  •  Coal (found in sculptures): 50 Simoleons
  •  Bellows (found in sculptures): 250 Simoleons
DOWNLOAD (through my blogspot)

Huge thank you to @angedemon for restoring the game files for me so I was able to upload this again. (I had somehow managed to delete the files from both my simfileshare and computer so this upload hadn’t been available for a while) But now it is again so just follow the download link above to my blog where there’s a new download link to the files on simfileshare.

Autonomous crafting for all teen+ Sims

I've never before been so happy to share a creation! Get ready to get crafting, because it's about to get autonomous! Released today in collaboration with the wonderful @joplayingthesims who has built a community lot for the mod, seen in the pictures below. Exciting!

In my game, I have a community lot with crafting stations for Sims who can't afford one, or don't have space for one. But as I visited it recently with one of my college students wanting to learn flower arrangement, I got a bit depressed by all the empty stations and the other visitors just standing around chatting. I wondered if anyone had added autonomy, and I came upon iCad's autonomy enabler. While neat, it only adds autonomy for the active household which is the opposite of what I wanted. So I made my own that enables it for visiting Sims as well, only to quickly realize how annoying that got. All these Sims asking me to pick a recolor for them, blergh! So I went on tweaking, fixing the annoyances as they came up, and here we are! Finally it is possible to have a lively crafting studio where all Sims participate, without being annoying for you the player! Are you excited? Because I am excited!

What does the mod do? - Enables autonomy on "make many" and "continue" (see readme for more info on why not make one) for all five original crafting types - Robots, toy making, flower arrangement, pottery and sewing - Does NOT charge your Sims money for background Sim crafting. Money sounds and visuals show for all Sims, but only your current households crafting charges household funds. - By default only autonomous on community lots. Has optional autonomy on residential/apartment lots, you can enable autonomy on those lot types by placing the Autonomy Toggler object somewhere on the lot (custom object made using parts of the FT crafting clutter, found in hobbies/misc for 1 simoleon). I set it up this way as residential autonomy sounds irritating to me, but I'm all about flexibility for the user. Perhaps you want to run arts classes at your residential playable school, or you simply like autonomy more than I do :) Please note that autonomy advertisement is tuned with community lot use in mind, so it might be higher than you'd want for residential. If there's interest I am happy to make a second version with lower advertising for those who primarily want residential use. If you are somewhat familiar with TTAB edits yourself, you can try changing attenuation code to low or medium to limit advertisement distance which will reduce appeal to Sims. - Fixes annoyances with background crafting, such as selecting recolors and pop ups about progress - Changes inventory mechanics to allow for owned studio-type use, in case you'd like a friendly owner Sim present to provide instruction. Crafting now only goes to business lot owner if done by an employee, otherwise crafting Sim gets the object. Includes home business, so if it bothered you that family members don't get to keep their work, this also fixes that. If that part annoys you, see readme for how to remove this feature.

You might say "Okay well fun for you Gummi, but I don't have a community lot with crafting stations, so why would I need this?". Well fortunately Joandsarah has the solution for that problem! Check out the cute crafting studio she built to give all of you a place to start community crafting! Available on MTS

Conflicts: Only known conflict is iCad's original autonomy enabler, you have to pick if you want hers version of autonomy, or mine :) Readme contains breakdown of the functionality of all parts, to help you decide a load order should you encounter conflicts. It should be possible to resolve conflicts though if there are any others, so please report them to me :)

Credits: @joplayingthesims for collaborating with me and providing a lot that you can get started with if you don't have one, iCad at @dramallamadingdang for the original autonomy enabling mod, @cityof2morrow who helped playtest the mod

If anyone else builds a community lot intended for autonomous use, I hope you let me know somehow so I can add links to it in my post :) If any other modders see ways to improve on what I did, please feel free to do so :) I am hoping to eventually post an update that sends all crafting to inventory to fix the make one issue, and the station clogging that happens over time.
