fun story I first became obsessed with the harry potter series and hermione in particular in yr 3 of primary school and I decided I wanted to be like hermione in every way so I started reading *lots* and working super hard in school, got a reputation for bookishness and being the smart kid that I kept up into high school and lol here I am graduating in a few weeks from Cambridge all bc I adored this clever bookworm in a children’s book series and absorbed her into my personality as a child like ???

basically long story short female role models in kids media are EVERYTHING

Shannon Purser photographed by Shelby Goldstein for Elle Magazine

[abour her Emmy nomination] I freaked out. I was just standing there, shaking. And there were these two dogs, right there. I said, ‘Can I please pet them?’ The woman was like, 'That’s why they’re here!’ It was absolutely what I needed.

why you should watch twisted: the untold story of a royal vizier

  • it’s a musical
  • it’s by the same people who did a very potter musical, so you know it’s good
  • it’s available for free on youtube, and the soundtrack isn’t very expensive, either
  • it gives the wicked treatment to jafar from aladdin
  • (or ja’far, to get around copyright issues)
  • (actually a lot of the ways they get around copyright in this show are really funny)
  • “and may the rats ejaculate upon you”
  • the titular song literally gave me chills
  • “why is everyone in the kingdom white????”
  • really really good costuming and sets
  • TIGER FUCKER TIGER FUCKER TIGER FUCKER
  • there’s a song called “orphaned at 33″ and it’s fucking hilarious
  • the guy who plays aladdin is amazingly charming yet punchable at the same time
  • DYLAN SAUNDERS
  • poking fun at a lot of disney’s urban legends
  • the bad guys are from the kingdom Pik-zhar
  • “what’s that name, everyone?” “TIGER FUCKER!” “no!”
  • a genuinely touching and compelling love story told over the course of one song
  • a subplot that manages to make a surprisingly well-put point about consent and sex =/= love
  • “all this for a loaf of bread” (just wait until you hear it….)
  • PRINCE ACHMED
  • “I noticed you weren’t at dinner, but I saw you try to poison my wine! Usually when you do that it means you want to talk, so what’s up, are you mad at me?”
  • please just watch it because in my opinion it deserves just as much attention as a very potter musical

important PSA about when your car is smoking

like literally smoking from the engine

white and you smell pancakes? it’s the coolant. panic and pull over, but you’ll live

a slight blue tinge? it’s the oil. panic and pull over, but you’ll live

grey, looks like fire smoke? gasoline; the most combustable and dangerous. pull over and leave the vehicle, pray.

sharing because i didn’t know this when my car started smoking white yesterday and i was so afraid for my life.

Reblogging because a dear friend of my Moms with mechanic experience told me the same thing when I got my license.

Posters for Wonder Woman (2017)

Woah. I can’t believe I never realized this, but none of these are the “sexy female superhero pose” poster. Upper left-hand is the closest, but doesn’t show off her ass or boobs.

Most female superheroes get stuck in this pose where they show off their butt and cleavage instead of just looking badass. Wonder woman’s still forms to her body without being too sexy. And in her posters, she isn’t forced to pose sexy. She gets to pose like a male superhero.

I also read somewhere about how unusual (compared to most recent superhero movies) it is that in most of the posters for Wonder Woman, she is the only person in it

(this is actually the first time I’ve seen posters where she’s not solo)

Superhero movie posters are often very busy, with much of the supporting cast featured, especially if its the first film in that franchise (see: Iron Man, Spider Man Homecoming, Captain America the First Avenger, Thor)

But here, almost every poster is Diana, front and centre, carrying the entire image by herself

I’ll take it a step further… I find those wonder woman posters sexy, and i’ll bet a lot of people sexually interested in women do too… But she isn’t sexualized… sometimes we forget that these two aren’t the same thing…

Not to mention they are some of the best movie posters we’ve seen in a long time

one thing i liked about “wonder woman” was that diana is UNDENIABLY a strong woman but isn’t forced to sacrifice her compassion and love for that strength. too often “strong women” are portrayed as cold, unfeeling, as if emotions and love are weaknesses; diana, however, is entirely motivated by compassion and love for humanity. she doesn’t fight for fighting’s sake, she fights for the eradication of war and pain and misery and, above all, for love. she feels for every human being and isn’t afraid to hide that.

idk. i think it’s pretty cool that WW took a trait that is generally considered to be feminine and therefore weak and made it one of diana’s greatest strengths.

This is wild as fuck. Guys please stay safe and turn this off immediately, just stop what you’re doing and go take care of this ASAP. If you haven’t updated you’re safe for now, but if you do automatic updates go check that out ASAP. Anyone with a SC should turn this off its just so creepy and no no no.
