It's Been So Long by @elsi-bee (T, 31K) This fic was really charming. I always love Louis and Gemma as friends, and the “in love with my best friend’s brother” trope rarely lets me down. This one was sweet and endearing while also being very moving. I loved the tender way they treated each other, even when they were pining, and the flashbacks were the perfect way to fill in the blanks.

harder to hide than I thought by dangerbears (NR, 6K) Gemma and Louis are besties. This one is sweet and charming. Gemma and Louis’ relationship is super cute and I love the way they tease each other. Louis notices how much Harry has grown up…

Reeling Through the Fall by zarah5 (E, 40K) I actually forgot that Louis and Gemma are friends in this one until an anon reminded me (thank you!), but you all know how much I love Zarah, so yes! Read this one. My notes from when I read it are useless (“hdjhasdk! so hot!”) but she’s always a sure bet. 

When The Stars Come Out by BriaMaria / @briannamarguerite (E, 30K) Louis and Gemma are friends - Harry thinks Louis is Gemma’s boyfriend. Pining ensues. You can always count on good writing and pacing with this author, but this one also has some great pining and build of up the flirting, Gemma’s character is really fun, the smut is super sexy, and there’s just the sweetest proposal at the end. 

Smoke Dreams from Smoke Rings by objectlesson (E, 19K) Gemma and Louis are friends, Harry has a crush, Louis finds an excuse to hang out together. This author always nails the teenage overwhelm and infatuation – it’s one of my favorite things about their fics. This one includes oblivious Harry, determined Louis, and ultimately two boys admitting their feelings. Good stuff! (Link is to a download, as the fic has been deleted)

Sand in My Shoes, Head Over Feet by Awriterwrites / @a-writerwrites (E, 45K) Frankly, the summary of this fic will give you the best idea of what goes on here: The last thing Louis wants to do is babysit a bunch of kids this summer. Especially not for three weeks at his family’s summer home. No, he’d rather stay home and wallow in self-pity. He definitely doesn’t want to sleep under the same roof as his sister’s friend, who happens to be a spectacle of a boy: wide eyed, curly haired, long legged and virtual sex on legs.

With the Rising Sun by Tomlinsontoes (M, 33K) Lottie and Harry and friends. I actually haven’t read this one yet, but @cuethetommo recommended it to me and she & I generally have very similar taste. So…I’m passing it on to you!
