It is more important than ever to keep sharing, showing up for protests, and sending emails to your representatives.

Keep talking about Palestine until the siege on Gaza ends, until the occupation ends, and until Palestinians are free.

i wish there was a herobrine mod that didnt like. make him immediately antagonize you. i wish there was one where he just sorta coexisted alongside you? builds his tunnels and pyramids and glowstone towers, maybe pranks the player occasionally, but overall doesnt do much harm. Sometimes you can see him from a distance. maybe you can find a cabin you never built somewhere in your world. i dunno maybe i just want a friend in singleplayer so the world feels less lonely

Color theory in digital art (not of the children’s hospital variety)

Retake classes you hated but now there’s zero stakes:

Learn basic statistics (free textbook)

Learn a language:

Russian (pretty good cyrillic guide!)

Want to learn something new in 2023??

Cooking with flavor bootcamp (used what I learned in this a LOT this year)

Learn Interior Design from the British Academy of Interior Design (free to audit course - just choose the free option when you register)

How to ride a bike (listen. some of us never learned, and that's okay.)

How to cornrow-braid hair (I have it on good authority that this video is a godsend for doing your baby niece's black hair)

Making mead at home (I actually did this last summer and it was SO good)

Basics of snowboarding (proceed with caution)

How to draw for people who (think they) suck at art (I know this website looks like a 2003 monstrosity, but the tutorials are excellent)

Pixel art for beginners so you can make the next great indie game

Go (back) to school

Introduction to Astronomy (high school course - free textbook w/ practice problems)

Principals of Economics (high school course - free textbook w/ practice problems)

Introduction to philosophy (free college course)

Computer science basics (full-semester Harvard course free online)

Learn a language

Want to learn something new in 2024??

Coding in Python - one of the most flexible and adaptable high-level programming languages out there - explained through projects making video games

Learn to swim! (for adult learners. I don’t care if you live in Kansas or Mali or wherever. LEARN TO SWIM.)

[Learn about quantum mechanics again, but in a more advanced engineering/mathematics class. Then read more about the math and physics of it]

Something I learned this year: how to sew a quilt (Here’s a very easy beginning pattern that looks amazing and can be done with pre-cut fabric!)

How (American income) taxes & tax law work (choose “audit course” at checkout for free class)

Pickleball for beginners (so you can finally join your neighbor/friend/distant cousin who is always insisting you join their team)

+ Para-Pickleball for beginners (for mobility aid users!)

School is so much more fun when there’s no tests:

Learn a language:

Tony, Bruce, Steve, and Peter are all very sarcastic characters but it’s in exceptionally different ways.

Tony is only child sarcastic. about everything, all the time. he’s like a puppy who desperately wants someone to play fight with him (“In prostitution? of course you’re not, you’re a senator” “My least favorite person on earth, Justin Hammer, Hi!” “I won’t join your super secret boy band”)

Bruce is oldest child funny. He dosnt use sarcasm all the time, carefully picking his moments. His timing and delivery are perfect every single time (“You’ve rented my room” “Only when I’ve built a murder bot” “I see this as an absolute win”)

Steve is middle child funny. He’s mastered the art of the deadpan delivery, and he does not in the slightest mind making a joke before kicking someone’s ass. He’s also got a joke that, in his mind, gets funnier each time he uses it (“On your left” “Before we get started, does anyone want to get out?” “secure the engine room, then find me a date”)

Peter is youngest child funny. He cracks jokes effortlessly, and sometimes it wasn’t intended to be a joke but is received as such. (You have a metal arm?! AWESOME!” “I can’t got to germany… I got homework” “BYE! Mr criminal!”)

Anyways, I think each of them is hilarious and deserves more appreciation

Despite it all I will live. Life wants to fuck me over? I will live fucking despite it. Pushes me around beyond my breaking point and further? I will live despite it.

Even though something is clawing at my insides, even though I realize how intolerable my pain is when I sit down and let everything sink in, even though the cookies I tried to bake tasted like frozen butter, even though dad hurt me again and mom didn't quite understand again,

I'm going to go on despite.

Why?

Because one thing bigger than my self-pity is my ego. And I am playing the most egotistical game with life.

And I will win. (Also my cat is rlly cute she makes me want to live)

I wish I knew the exact time and date that harry told snape ‘there’s no need to call me sir professor’ so that I could take a moment of silence to remember the moment each year

Judging from the context of the chapter…

We know that it’s September 2nd. I’d put it between 9:00 AM and 11:00 AM. (They have breakfast and then a free period. They have Snape’s class before their break, which was before their lunch.)

But in the UK first period typically only starts at 9 AM. So free period from around 9-10 AM and Snapes class from 10-11 AM I’d say.

Okay so 10am-11am every September 2nd is now an hour dedicated to remembering the most glorious piece of dialogue ever spoken by a fictional character

ok this just appeared on my blog with ample time for you all to prepare because apparently I stumbled across it months ago, and scheduled it to post on september first. executive function TRIUMPH!!!!!!!

Worth noting that tomorrow is the 20th anniversary of the greatest burn in history

it’s that time again lads
