*Throat constricts as the shrinking air chokes off any vitality left in the young neko’s form. Fear pulsated in her ears drumming wildly but not for worry that they were coming closer to the paranormal encounter, but rather that any moment now her form would become unstable and she would shift into the feline roaring inside her. She needed to stay calm but there hadn’t seemed to be much choice given the enclosed space fading even more and more as the gap between them and ’ it ’ begins to wane.
Her heart becomes heavy as she stops upon entering a hearth glancing behind her. Lilac hues glistening in the dark and sharpening to see. Fingers choke against the fabric of her sweater as she somehow feels as though this will keep her from transforming, that if she somehow cuts circulation off from the neck down she can regain control. But there is a heartbeat throbbing in her ears and she fears the worst is about to happen. She can scaresely get her breath out as she stumbles away from her companion.*

*She needs to move, to get away before all control is melted into a frenzy. She had never shift in front of someone and didn’t plan on doing so now, the sole of her high top shoes brush against the oak floor and she finds solice in the next room. Beads of sweat and irregular heavy panting ensue as she feels the need to shed this mortal skin and be free even for a moment. By doing this she can also gain more perspective as to where the criminal was hiding.*
* Like a shard of lightning she's gone. The pitch of night shrouds her as her own hand reaches for the ghostly presence of her companion who has already fled from sight. The wisp of air still breathing from where her body had just been. She stays silent weary of what the cause for her sudden disappearance might have been. Fingers twitch and then drop as they remain stable against the bulk of the metal upon the flashlight. Had something happened to warrant her disappearance or was she simply scared.
Either theory wasn't any of her business but she was conflicted about chasing after her or---just staying in this very spot and completing her task. Would Ren be upset if she pursued-? She shakes the multitude of questions from her mind and manages to get back to follying in the dark. Her shoulder blades brush against the mouth of the wall as she cranes her neck just to see into the next dim room. Dust swirls around but a peculiar smell permeates within the air. Something ominous and maleficent resides here. She fears she's stumbled upon the culprit at last but a twinge of fear ripples down her spine. *
