: The Tarantula Nebula is more than a thousand light-years in diameter, a giant star forming region within nearby satellite galaxy the Large Magellanic Cloud, about 180 thousand light-years away. The largest, most violent star forming region known in the whole Local Group of galaxies, the cosmic arachnid sprawls across this spectacular view composed with narrowband data centered on emission from ionized hydrogen and oxygen atoms. Within the Tarantula (NGC 2070), intense radiation, stellar winds and supernova shocks from the central young cluster of massive stars, cataloged as R136, energize the nebular glow and shape the spidery filaments. Around the Tarantula are other star forming regions with young star clusters, filaments, and blown-out bubble-shaped clouds. In fact, the frame includes the site of the closest supernova in modern times, SN 1987A, right of center. The rich field of view spans about 1 degree or 2 full moons, in the southern constellation Dorado. But were the Tarantula Nebula closer, say 1,500 light-years distant like the local star forming Orion Nebula, it would take up half the sky. via NASA

Can we see some cute Yondu and Stakar platonic stuff
I am KNEES DEEP in sin homework tonight but I have so much of this content in my head I have to qihsd;as/hda/sd share!!
For the consideration of the midnight society fandom, some things I’ve had in my head:
- Stakar teaching Yondu to read. He has his neuro-translator, but doesn’t have a base-language to translate, so Stakar takes time aside to help him learn.
- Stakar, for all his procured nerditry, telling Yondu everything he knows of the Centauri. He gives him cultural items he’s curated from various sources over the years, feeling they belong to Yondu. There isn’t much in Stakar’s collection, but Yondu is happy to have them.
- Yondu getting lost on a new planet and thinks his team left him behind. Stakar, tracking his energy signature, finds and brings him home, where everyone has been worried sick about him (for the first time in his life).
- Yondu finds something of Tara’s and assumes she’s an old girlfriend of Stakar’s, asks why he keeps it around. Stakar tells him about his late daughter, and why the keepsake is important to him.
- The Team Finds Centauri IV! Stakar privately has a bad feeling, but Yondu wants to go. Upon landing, they discover the planet’s been wiped out (some time ago, actually). Yondu is grief-stricken and lashes out, claiming Stakar brought him here knowing what happened, to prove Yondu has nowhere else to go. After cooling down (and probably talking to Martinex or Aleta), he approaches Stakar again. Stakar reveals a similar event happening on his planet, and the two exchange and bond over ‘Fuck My Childhood’ stories.
- Yondu reluctantly approaching Stakar because he’s scared to talk to anyone else on the ship but he needs something (but don’t try and tell him he’s scared, he’s not scared of anything!)
- Stakar teaching Yondu about everyone on the team because Yondu won’t talk to them.
- Stakar teaching Yondu how to spar without hurting his partner
- Yondu discovering hobbies and Stakar being proud of him for pursuing personal interests
- Yondu meeting a young Kraglin and introducing him to Stakar as his first official recruit

- Yondu have a bed inside Stakar’s quarters cause Yondu have a lot of nightmares and it’s better when he’s next to Stakar?
- Stakar giving Yondu his first candy and that results on a sugar rush cause he never tasted sugar before and now everyone on the team is doomed ?
- After that Aleta intentionally gives Yondu lots of candy and let Stakar to deal with it.
- Yondu have never being tickled before, he thinks he’s dying. haahahah
- Stakar noticing that Kraglin wants to be more than ‘friendly’ with Yondu and gives the ‘what do you want with my son’ speech ?
