Sci-fi Open Species: 'Astrex'

Here's an open species I made a lil while back, called the Astrex!

The Astrex are basically a bunch of sentient, fighter-jet-esque robots. Think of Latios/Latias from Pokemon but more like an actual aircraft, and you've got the general vibe! It's an open species, so please feel free to make your own if you feel so inclined! I'm of course open to any questions folks might have about the species as well.

...Oh.

Not gonna lie, I totally forgot I had a Tumblr account! Haven't posted on here in literal years, so hey, I've got one HELLUVA backlog I may or may not get around to posting. We'll see.

If I do get around to it, expect a whole lot of Pokemon Mystery Dungeon stuff alongside a sci-fi OC universe of mine! Got plenty of art, and more OCs than I frankly know what to do with lmao.

After seeing @bara_izu’s guide to their own Pokemon AU setting, I figured that such a guide might be really useful for the Cipher Project aka Cipherball setting I’m currently RPing in (and obsessed about) in a Discord server! This meant to be a quick overview of a setting still in development, but I hope that gives valuable background for Cipherball content I’m hoping to post in the future :) Was also fun to feature a bunch of characters from other players as well.

The RP server is currently friends-of-friends invite-only, but if you’d like to see more of and if you have any questions! If you’d like make your own Cipherball content, be sure to use #cipherball for your works ;v;👍

Anonymous asked:

Do you have any triggers?

Jello, Popsicles, Soup Broth.

Avatar

Nah, I never joke about Jello, Popsicles, and Soup Broth…

Indeed, I am!

I’m a disability advocate whose triggers are Jello, Popsicles, and Soup Broth.

I legit just lost a follower over this.

They must be really big fans of Jello and/or Popsicles and/or Soup Broth.

For those who have trouble detecting sarcasm - the last sentence about them being fans of said foods was sarcastic. But a few people have really unfollowed me over this.

The other three replies, including the original, are serious.

Jello, Popsicles, and Soup Broth are my legit triggers. I would never joke about that.

I know it sounds bizarre. But trust me, I’m serious.

(I’m also not a big fan of fluorescent lights.)

It should be noted that I haven’t received this many death threats since the Great Snape War of 2013.

This is by far my favorite reply:

All right, folks, take your seats, because class is now in session! Let’s have a little talk…

Yeah, yeah, I know it’s Saturday, but learning is fun.

I’ve had seven surgeries in my lifetime and will probably have many more in the future. And one such surgery, which happened about nine years ago, involved really fun (*sarcasm*) things like tubes that are shoved up your nose and end up in your stomach (I know, I didn’t think it was possible either until they did it), eight gallons of really disgusting fluid, pain, lots of pain, and the direct order that I had to evacuate every single bit of food that was inside me.

And that was before the surgery even began!

After the surgery, I had to stay in the hospital for about a month.

And I was on what’s called a clear-liquid diet.

What’s a clear-liquid diet?

For this particular hospital:

Water, Jello, Popsicles, and Soup Broth.

A meal that was delivered to my hospital room three times a day.

That’s all I was allowed to eat.

For those of you who enjoy doing math: I was in the hospital for a month, which is roughly 30 days. I had to eat this meal three times a day. That’s 90 bowls of soup broth, 90 containers of Jello, and 90 Popsicles. Ninety times I had to eat these things. In the span of a month. 90.

Which means that nine years later, I am actually physically unable to eat these three items without vomiting. It’s a sensory trigger.

So why didn’t I talk about this from the beginning instead of enduring four death-threats, six unfollows, and nineteen messages/comments (not including the death threats and the ones that just said ‘Popsicles, Jello, Soup Broth’ over and over again)?

Well, there’s two reasons.

A.) I don’t have to. People don’t ever have to explain why something is triggering to them. Once they say that it is, it should just be a given.

And

B.) The above comment is right. I am a disability advocate. And part of that advocacy includes advocating on behalf of people with triggers. And so, you’ve all been part of a social experiment for the past few hours - an experiment to see how people react when they see that someone has really bizarre triggers (out-of-context).

And I’m a bit sad to say that many of you have failed. Even other people with triggers and/or other advocates.

So listen because this is really important:

I know that triggers are a sensitive subject and I know that there are people out there who do joke about them.

But there are even more people out there who have triggers that seem really bizarre and even silly.

And you know what?

You cannot invalidate those triggers.

You cannot assume that someone is joking, you cannot assume that they’re mocking other people with triggers that are more commonplace or ‘sensible’, you cannot assume that they are anything less than genuine.

If someone tells you that they have a trigger, you need to believe them, no matter how bizarre it might seem.

Class Dismissed.

Juuust gonna reblog this bc OP dropped an absolute wisdom bomb right here, and it's worth a read imho

I've recently reopened my sprite edit commissions, and it's actually been going rather well so far, I'd like to think? Somehow??? Anyway, here's a commission for psythan#1528 on Discord, of their Vaporeon OC, Elle! This, all told, was pretty fun to do. Even threw in an alt without the socks at the client's request, which was made easy by just disabling one layer. Aseprite is a pretty nifty lil program for this kinda thing ngl 👀

Avatar

Here’s my first ever commission, for @Cake#1014 on Discord! A sprite edit of their Latios OC, Miles, who has a really cute design tbh - though I must admit it was hard to get all the accessories looking right. Especially the hat, good LORD the hat took a while. Nevertheless, this is my first comm, and it won’t be my last - I intend to cook up a commission sheet and dish it up on Discord and this Tumblr in the near future!

Avatar

Here’s another PMD OC sprite edit! Albert Brightmann, another former human in the same guild as Bentley, and one of two such former human kids who’s actually been adopted by the guildmaster - a wise old Dragonair with Wholesome Grandma Energy™️ named Henrietta Brightmann, hence Al here’s surname. His colouration’s slightly different to the norm, not shiny but not the normal colours either. A deeper blue, richer cream, and a more bluish shell as well. Another defining feature’s his much longer and much sharper horn, and his goggles make him stand out as well, but the main thing that makes him stand out (which I couldn’t represent in the sprite edit) is his size. He’s much, MUCH larger than normal, standing at 4.2 metres in height whereas the quoted height is “only” 2.5. A behemoth of a Pokemon, sure, but he’s actually a gentle giant at heart. Cheerful and often eager to help however he can, he’s got a big heart to match his big stature - despite his young age of 15, he does a lot for the guild. After all, he’s uniquely qualified to - his sheer physical strength lets him carry darn near anything on his back, and makes him a good teammate to have around. He helps out a lot with transporting other explorers’ teams, as well. Picture how the Lapras in PMD4 does it, pretty much.
