OUR LAST GOODBYE
As of February 13th, 2023, Deobi Writers Net will officially be closing its operations and will no longer be accepting members/reblogging works.
We’d like to thank all members who took interest in the network and actively used our tag for their works – it was a pleasure reblogging your stories and helping you gain more exposure! A big thank you also goes out to our staff members and those who were involved with making Deobi Writers Net come to life: our admins @chocolattees, @jjyusmile, and @pearlhoon
Once again, we appreciate the interest in our network and hope that writers will continue to write amazing stories with school-related themes. The blog will remain in existence until Tumblr deletes it in due time, but it will not be active.

maybe it was the comfortable silence that made you feel at ease.
the early morning rays of the sun were pouring in through the seams and cracks of your windows, showcasing the softness of your boyfriend who had been sitting in front of you with a small pout formed on his face. the phone that was in his hand had resonated sounds coming from its speakers, making you easily tell that he was on tiktok with the amount of times that he had swiped up on his screen with audio playing.
but the small pout on his face was formed also from the ramen that he was currently consuming, despite the fact that it was too early in the morning.
a video that he watches makes him suddenly burst into giggles as there’s soup that splashes onto the corner of his lips from him dropping the noodles back into the styrofoam cup; you were filled with endearment by your own boyfriend.
while scooping your own spoonful of cereal, you grabbed a napkin and wiped his lips, making him slightly jump at your sudden moves and he looked at you with a confused, but flustered expression on his face. you smile at how flushed he had looked before leaning over the counter to properly kiss him and watch as his face turns into a darker shade of pink, and suddenly you can feel your face being peppered with kisses all over.
this was the perfect way to spend every morning with him.

You looked down at the map that had come in the envelope the Council had handed you, studying the faded landmarks that your ancestor had drawn decades ago. The first Gifted Y/L/N, you had concluded upon a second look when you noticed your family name signed on the bottom right corner. It matched the writing in the journal you had found anyway.
But, there were few, and each one distanced far from your final destination. You had been forced to walk (a rule set in a letter that had come with the map) through town, and head toward the Angelos burned estate until you were in the section of the kingdom between the Angelos and the Lee’s.
You had entered the forest then, where the landmarks were nothing you had seen before. Twisted branches and roots protruding the ground in peculiar shapes.

You always imagined what it would be like to have a cliche, stereotypical meet-cute. Maybe, you’d meet The One at the coffee shop your best friend works at. You two would order the same thing to go, perhaps, and the identical order would spark a conversation. Or, maybe, you ride the same bus into campus, sitting beside each other and noticing something that’s similar. A book, the same song on a playlist, identical shoes. Or, rather, the same unique course that only 6 other people thought to take, and you’re sitting beside each other, and the specificity of the class brings you two closer.
You’d met your boyfriend in a meet-cute, or as cute as you could manage. Two people in line at the bookstore, hands full of textbooks. At the time, he’d been everything—right look, right style, right smile. You still love him, and you’re sure he feels the same—he has too—it’s just that you two are busy with finishing school. It happens to everyone.
Whether or not he’s The One is a different discussion.
Either way, you’re certain there’s something similar. There has to be. Opposites attract is a lie, and you, for one, know it. Same with the meet-uglies. How could anything good come from accidentally spilling food on the other or accidentally punching someone in the face because you’re animated when you talk? It’s simply a setup for failure.
It—meeting The One—surely doesn’t happen like that, and it most certainly doesn’t happen when some dumb boy on a skateboard accidentally bowls over you.

As you walked down the staircase of your home, your fingers itched to trail over the cracks in the wall. But you couldn’t bring yourself to touch them.
It was foolishness, you thought to yourself, a hallucination brought upon by your tired eyes. The dark circles under your eyes should have been proof enough that your sight could not be trusted.
But you swore they looked deeper than they had the day before and darker, like black slime was just waiting to ooze out from it. Or maybe, you rationalized, you had never looked at them properly until today, and the servants had yet to properly clean the walls.
Still, there was an urge to lay your fingers over them, accompanied by a quieter repulsion warning you not to.

a/n: this was from an old summer writing exercise i did two years ago, and i decided to edit and post them!
Summer rain falls in sheets, hitting the roof of the apartment and the sides and windows. Outside, people hurry to take shelter against the sudden torrents, beneath awnings or ducking into waiting cars. It’s still hot, the rain only making it muggy and humid. Inside, however, it’s crisp and cool, with the AC on and every fan spinning air around the room. It’s so chill, in fact, you feel the need to wrap yourself in a blanket as you catch up on your favorite drama.
You’d both taken the day off, with the intended purpose of doing—well—nothing. You hadn’t done anything really productive, not in the societal sense of things at least. You did manage to clean out your closet and prepare for the upcoming events you had scheduled. Changmin had gone out to get lunch, his treat, he said.

The smell was stronger than you expected it to be after nearly two decades. You had only been a child when the Mons family home had burnt to the ground, the fire raging so violently that by the time everyone had arrived to help, there was nothing to be done. The same thing happened to the Angelo’s only a couple of weeks later. It was a tragedy that no one could fathom and, in the end, was concluded to be the fault of unattended candles in the libraries.
The estate hadn’t fallen. But it had been burned into a crisp. The walls were dark and charred, the floor was just the same, and soot blanketed everything that had survived the fire.
It had been seven months since Sangyeon began bringing you here on outings. Still, every time you breathed, you could smell the burnt of everything around you as if the fires had been alive mere hours ago. It scathed your nostrils, but you couldn’t bring yourself to wait for him outside. That was too dangerous.
