Eddie looks miserable.
Fucking adorable also, but too miserable for Richie to truly enjoy it, which is just his luck honestly, but he can’t not say something.
“Dude, what are you wearing?”
“Shut up, dickwad,” Eddie shoots back, but fidgets with his old man tie and ugly, too-big tweed jacket self consciously. “It’s picture day and my mom wanted me to look nice.”
“You look like a retired philosophy professor at a community college,” Richie laughs, and Eddie elbows him in the side, which was the desired effect, anyway.
“I said shut up, Richie,” he bites back, and it’s only because Richie is way too familiar with Eddie’s face and demeanor than he really should be, that he notices the tell-tale signs of actual hurt and embarrassment on his face, and immediately softens.
“Jesus,” he sighs, fighting back a blush as he rips off his sweatshirt and all but shoves it in Eddie’s stupid face. “Here, wear this. At least after you get your picture taken. So you won’t look so stupid.”
“What?” Eddie starts, surprised, “Rich—”
But then they’re calling Richie’s home room to the gym for pictures, and he’s rushing down the hall, fighting back the urge to either cheer or puke at the idea of Eddie wearing his sweatshirt.
(It does nothing to prepare him for the life-altering experience of seeing it for real that afternoon. Life, for once, is good.)

It’s impossible for Richie to express his relief in kisses alone about how happy he is that Eddie survived. They both survived. Surely that is a sign that he shouldn’t wait anymore, no more holding his tongue. He loves Eddie Kaspbrak. About time he let it be known.
Something sweet about my favourite part of It Chapter Two where Eddie survives! If I was a better writer, I’d write a one shot of a moment like this. Although, I think this art manages to speak louder than any words I could write. <3

That's what happens with Abbie as I said... he freaks out and is conflicted at first but eventually decides to see it through. Or maybe you meant in ootb, when he is much younger and closeted? That would fucking suck lmao. Absolutely no way he'd want to have to deal with his mom on top of that. Not only would she be a total nightmare, but she already hates Richie without thinking they're together in any way. Eddie is 18, technically an adult, so maybe he'd try to avoid letting his mom know all together and they'd go to Maggie to help get it taken care of...
This was rattling in the back of my head while I was driving for some reason but i was laughing to myself about if Eddie did tell Sonia and she’s like ok well you have to lock this guy down and get married otherwise this situation is embarrassing to me. And when she finds out it’s Richie she’s like Nevermind. Abortion
