This post was made bc i was delving in some deep and dark memories and realised that I created an Arcana ship I was too cowardly and arrogant to embrace back in the heyday but in hindsight is so ridiculously me-coded that i really should've just read the writing on the wall and run with it

Also w some timely distance i can now embrace the proper fucked up ness of one of the OCs in question as well as ALL of these OCs without potentially getting metaphorically burnt at the stake by people bc it's my city and my rules

But lemme tell you that if you were to read a full abridged story of the Rubalcabas as they developed outside of the shared Arcana world (altho you can technically easily insert them)... these people would give therapists a field day. Freud would kill a mfer w his bare hands just to spend five minutes in their presence. The amount of twisted dynamics and complexes and general awfulness of them is so delightful.

The more i develop Ximena's story away from the Arcana, i see a couple of things:

  1. Away from the framework of the game I can basically do whatever the fuck i want and thus tell the story i actually wanna tell, because ngl but...the exile is actually the least interesting part because it's a time of inaction. I cant commit to writing some of that boring stuff
  2. Everything in the story really goes back to having the relevant family members in the same room. Everything else... exists in the orbit of that. That's part of why theyre so dysfunctional in the first place. These orbital characters are also bound to get a makeover to make them more interesting to me to write instead of trying to fit them into the Arcana plot
  3. Without intending to, i created a darker take on Snow White at least when it comes to the broad strokes: a noblewoman has a tense relationship with a maternal figure because of whom she leaves her home, a family member pays a mercenary to find the noblewoman, and the noblewoman is believed to be dead but really just dormant (a metaphorical glass casket so to say)
  4. This story is SO larger than who i am at this very moment, which is why im not even bothering with starting it because i cant possibly do it justice. It's also why i pretty much abandoned my Arcana fic bc it wouldve stood in the way of that. Who knows when ill actually write some of this down in a way it's satisfactory?
