Skvetta & Moppa!

Skvetta is a Border collie, Moppa is a Bearded collie, living in iceland!
Dogblr, we could really use your help!

My dear chosen family, Emily and Liam, just lost everything to a house fire with three of their dogs inside. TenSoon's best friend Tova did not make it. Valkyrie's brother Kaladin did, but is currently lost and spooked in the woods, too traumatized to come home.

These humans are the kindest, most giving people you'll ever meet. They've fronted immense service trains to make sure handlers could have needs met, volunteered at every local obedience trial and some out of town, and hosted disc dog events at cost so that the local community have a place to meet and aggression rehab dogs and their humans have a healthy outlet. They do so so much.

We have feet on the ground and are pouring our financial resources at getting Liam's service dog safely home. But if you can spare anything for the gofundme the local dog community set up, please do. Their house was reduced to ash, and their farm truck was melted. This is a devastating loss, and anything helps. The full story is in the GoFundme link.

Bath day for the baby. Hard to believe she was fully shaved down just 5 months ago! Im hopeful to see her in the ring in March, maybe even November if her coat continues this way... 🥰

Trigger warning for focal seizure footage

Posting something so vulnerable is so scary and uncomfortable but i realize if im ever going to get my assistance dog, i need to be more open with whats going on. I have so many extremely stressful things going on in life and its having a detrimental effect on my epilepsy.

My entire story is on my page if you just scroll a little.

If you can spare anything, every little amount counts towards something so big. I cant explain how grateful I am to the 5 people who have already donated. Everything counts.

Hey I’m the last anon, i reread my ask and idk if you found it rude but if so I’m sorry, language barrier+ neurodivergency makes it harder to sound polite on text 😅 I didn’t mean to come of as accusatory or anything (feel free not to answer this and just leave it in your ask box)

Not at all love, it was nice and respectful! Im answering this just so you know that you didnt do anything wrong or sound mean in any way ❤️

Moppa is not a mop anymore... any reason why you shaved her or is it just for a lower maintenance coat? Love to you and moppa❤️

Thank you for asking! So I have had a relapse with my autoimmune disease/s and bathing/grooming was starting to become really difficult. She was never tangled but it was so much work. I started a new medication to get my body back to where it was but it will take 12-16 weeks to work and I decided i would just shave her down 1x then grow it back, since I should be okay by the time the hair needs proper maintenence!

Hi there lovely people!

My name is Lovísa and I have epilepsy.

I have hit a point in my health where my neurologist is no longer comfortable with me not having a lifeline of sorts, and moving in with family or friends and having someone constantly around and with me is sadly just not an option.

So after a lot of deliberation with my doctors and the appropriate organization and their people, we have decided an assistance dog is the best option for me.

The work that goes towards getting an assistance dog in Iceland is an incredibly expensive, strict and long process, and it is taxing but so worth it in cases like this.

I am personally disabled and completely unable to work due to my illnesses, and am on disability. Therefore it is absolutely impossible for me to fund this assistance dog on my own if i want to do it within the next 10 years. So i am reaching out for support, no matter what form that support is (financial, advice regarding assistance dogs or training, a share, an encouraging comment, anything!). Any and all support is welcome! ❤️

Crowdfunding is a sore subject because asking for help is so incredibly difficult. But after talking with friends and family I see I need to recognize its okay to need help sometimes. This will be my second attempt of an assistance dog but this time we are going through actual professionals and under better guidance and I have high hopes for this.

There is no magic number but training alone (base training and then training with the assistance dog trainer) will most likely be costing a minimum of 500000 ISK (approx 3500 USD) and that is excluding the cost of the dog itself and everything else the process entails. I will be paying for as much as I can myself but realistically I need help with this.

Coming to terms with my epilepsy has been an impossible process, since I was diagnosed as an adult absolutely out of nowhere. Having my life turned upside down and trying to adjust to this new reality of my epilepsy not being controlled anymore is hard and terrifying.

There are a lot of unknowns and having the reassurance of an assistance dog will help me immensely, both in keeping me safe if (when) something happens, giving my family peace of mind, and making me feel safer in this reality.

Sadly I only have PayPal for my foreign friends, but please dont worry if you cant donate!

As ive said, every type of support is welcome. No gesture is too small ❤️

Another day, another seizure

This one was pretty rough and resulted in a concussion. I am not going to lie, I am starting to become desperate. I am maxed out on all of my meds, and I am still having more frequent seizures that dont have "warnings".

Please, if you could just reblog and help me get more reach. You dont have to donate if you cant, reblogs matter so much too ❤️

sorry if this is too personal, but i'm wondering how you got diagnosed with epilepsy? i've been noticing some weird stuff that seems like seizures but i am not really sure what to do about it lol

All questions are welcome! We knew I was having seizures based on symptoms (literally just started out as smelling burnt toast when there was none, anxiety and deja vu feeling. Sometimes all at once, sometimes the only symptom was just 1 of them).

I had mentioned the burnt toast to my neurologist who recognized it as a symptom of epilepsy immediately lol. I had an EEG done a month later which showed seizure activity and abnormal brain activity even when I was not seizing. Many people with epilepsy are not this lucky though and sometimes it requires several attempt to catch seizure activity on an EEG!

I do have larger seizures now as well but i still do have small seizures where its just anxiety/deja vu/toast (some people call them auras/warnings for a seizure, but these are in fact seizures by themselves) and these smaller seizures can lead to a larger seizure if things go wrong.

Its still hard for me to seperate normal anxiety and normal deja vus that everyone gets, and my seizures. Which can be quite anxiety inducing on its own 😅
