Happy Sunday and Happy early valentine's day. so i spent a good amount of time last night editing an image from one of my shoots. Finalized it and looked at it again this morning and sent it off to my crap folder. So i'm posting this other image instead. I tend to look at my final work for days at different times of the day. A lot of times they never make it to the final folder and they are sent off to the failed graveyard. It's not really a total loss to be honest. I look at them as lessons. I keep a journal on all those images noting what I don't like about them and how I could've shot that scene to improve it. It might take an hour of your time to journal but it pays off down the line to refresh your memory and improve your techniques. . as always—thanks for the love and support. . ___________________________________ . . From the coast of Southern California _______________________________________ r e a l i t y _______________________________________ . how do you get so lucky every time? well I don't. The other 90% of them times I'm sitting there waiting or sometimes showing up and either the waves are not what I had in mind or the clouds got pushed to a different direction. You're at the mercy of nature and with seascape photography there's a lot of variables that can make it or break it. Over times I've learned to read and understand weather charts. Am I great at it? It's in progress. But I'm getting better. What would seem as crap weather I look at as an opportunity. Sometimes I wish I had an assistant to hold an umbrella when it's pouring rain. Lucky for you as you would see a lot more dark and angry shots. . as always—thanks for the love and support. . ___________________________________ . . This week I've been digging through old files, really old files. Looking back at my earlier years. It's amazing I look back and see all the mistakes I had made. It's good to look back and see where you were and how much you've progressed. I still have the first 3 8x10 Black & White prints I ever did framed on my wall. They are the first day of my photography journey. Are they amazing? no they suck! but, it's a reminder of my progress. . as always, I really appreciate the love and support you guys give me. Happy shooting! Keep on clicking! . . ___________________________________ . . ‪The inspiration you seek is already within you. This shoot started out as a crappy shoot and almost walked away from it. There was so much onshore wind and waves were so choppy and huge that there was a constant stream of ocean spray. I went through half a bottle of lens cleaner and spent half my time cleaning my lens. With situations like that, I really don't know how good the images are till I look at them on my monitor to see how many of the shots were ruining by ocean spray on my lens. There's a lot of fine details in this image the is a good representation of the insane waves pounding our coast for the last few days. Zoom and check out the madness. . . . From the coast of Southern California _______________________________________ f e a r l e s s _______________________________________ . Happy SUNDAY! A Super Wet Sunday in SoCal. Did this shot yesterday. I wasn’t hoping for much, but it turned out to be an amazing shoot. The only thing was too many photographers and not enough space. The beach was mostly under water because of the crazy swells hitting the coast this week. I was stuck in one spot as I didn’t want to lose the primo spot to shoot…and with that came getting a dose of wave up to my waist every 10-15 minutes. It’s a super wet day in SoCal and I’ll try to work on some more of my shots. . . . As always, thanks for your love and support . . ___________________________________ . . From the coast of Southern California _______________________________________ a n g e l . r i s i n g _______________________________________ . Well here's to a great start of 2017. As you're aware I wasn't able to shoot for a bit of time and I miss a lot of opportunities as there's only a few months of primo shooting season left. Yesterday was the start of an epic storm system hitting the coast of Southern California with pretty awesome swells reaching the coast sometime tonight. My Type Of Weather for shooting. . This IG size does not do this image any justice. I'll upload it to my site later on this week to see it better. The waves put on an incredible show. . If you're in SoCal and don't have experience with an angry ocean, it's best to keep a safe distance from the shoreline. I'll be there front and center to capture the majestic power of this storm. Rain or Shine here I come. . . . As always, thanks for your love and support . . ___________________________________ . . ‪wisdom is like rain. its source is limitless, but it comes down according to the season.‬ ‪.‬ . . —Rumi ____________________________________

[tg_divider style=”faded”] A Comprehensive Review Of SleekLens Photoshop Actions: For Professional Landscape Photographers [tg_divider style=”faded”] I was recently asked by SleekLens to test out one of their products, Landscape Adventures, which is a series of action scripts for Photoshop. It's a long night for me...waiting game...so as I sit here looking through your posts and my posts I realized I never posted this shot I did a couple of months ago. It was actually featured in a couple of publications BUT I never posted here. We have an amazing storm going on as I sit here, it's calming my nerves. Not sure why, but the crazier they are, the soothing they seem to me. I'm going to try really hard to have something ready for the end of the year. Im having doubts I'll be able to do it, as my priorities are committed elsewhere. Until I start shooting again, I'll live through your amazing posts. . . . As always, thanks for your love and support . . ___________________________________ . . ‪When someone is counting out gold for you, don't look at your hand or the gold. ‬ ‪.‬ ‪Look at the Giver‬. . . —Rumi ____________________________________

From the coast of Southern California _______________________________________ b r i l l i a n t . d a n c e _______________________________________ . Hello friends! This makes it to one of my most complex images I've shot this year. The level of detail and the intricate movement in the waves really get lost on here - so I'll try to post it on my site at some point in the near future. I'll say this made it to my top 5 images of this year. I won't be able to shoot or post (obviously...since I can't shoot) for the next month or two. So if you don't see any new posts from me, know I'll be back at it again soon. I'm still going to be on here to enjoy your incredible images and enjoy the beauty of nature through your posts. Whatever you do, just keep unicorns, flying pigs and Mars out of your shots. Wish you and your loved ones a happy holiday and an amazing New Year. Can't thank you enough for the love and support you've given me. . . . As always, thanks for your love and support . . ___________________________________ . . . You were born with potential. From the coast of Southern California _______________________________________ n o . t i t l e _______________________________________ I did another much longer exposure after this one when I was shooting and 10seconds left of my 10min exposure a waist high wave moved me and my tripod. It actually looks pretty awesome and the camera shake not noticeable for instagram, because camera moving during the last 10sec on such a long exposure is not drastic but it is def visible for print (what my work is all about)...but I'm not to post what I consider trash worthy...so I'm settling with this although this image is not worthy of print either because it's not 100% what I was aiming for. <As always, thanks for your love and support> ___________________________________ Darkness may hide the trees and the flowers from the eyes But it cannot hide love from the soul. • Rumi ____________________________________

From the coast of Southern California _______________________________________ l o s t _______________________________________ Not one of my favorite shots but definitely one my favorite shoots this year. With whatever it is that I'm doing, whether it's my architectural work and design or photography, I feel that the day you stop learning is the death of my passion. I don't think that you become a better photographer, it's more like maturing. Like when you were a kid, your tastebuds gravitated towards ketchup, soda and sugar and gradually develop a more refined pallet. As long as you're not adding all kinds of crazy shit in your images I think you're on the right track. And to clarify - I don't claim to know much about photography or imply to be a self proclaimed guru of any kind. Just clicking away in my own world. <As always, thanks for your love and support> ___________________________________ don't get lost in your pain know that one day your pain will become your cure • Rumi ____________________________________

From the coast of Southern California _______________________________________ l i v e • i n • s i l e n c e _______________________________________ This shoot…I don’t think I’ll ever forget this shoot. It was a shoot I showed up to location an hour early unknowingly. I was hoping to capture some of the lightning over the Pacific and frankly as soon as I arrived the lightning storm stopped. During the 2 hours I was shooting, the sky, ocean, colors, sun, light…and pretty much every element was changing so rapidly and every change was a beautiful painting. I shot over 1000 frames that day, triple of my typical shoot. It brings me to my point…yes shoot as much as you can…clicks are free (kinda) but don’t shoot for the sake of shooting…shoot with a purpose. Make every click count. As much as I research and plan my shoots up to the hour of shooting, I’ve lost count of the number of times I’ve canceled the shoot after arriving because it was not what I had envisioned. Envision the final shot. Know what you want it to look like and aim for that. <As always, thanks for your love and support> ___________________________________ This silence, this moment, every moment, if it’s genuinely inside you, brings what you need. There’s nothing to believe. Only when I stopped believing in myself did I come into this beauty. •
Sit quietly, and listen for a voice that will say, ‘Be more silent.’ Die and be quiet. Quietness is the surest sign that you’ve died. Your old life was a frantic running from silence. Move outside the tangle of fear-thinking. • Live in silence. • Rumi ____________________________________

From the coast of Southern California _______________________________________ b a l a n c e . of . l i g h t _______________________________________ Let's talk about what no one talks about. I see images featured on some hubs that don't make any sense. There is editing, then there is image manipulation, then pushing an image to be something it is not and falling apart. Yes. even on a tiny screen and crap IG resolution a trained eye can spot it. Sorry Kids. Pretty much almost every image from the early days of photography was edited. Cleaning up dust and scratches, color adjustment, white balance, dodge n burn, ND gradients on and on and on...No camera can really see what our eyes see and then you need to make correction to the camera's capture to match the scene. You must not totally rely on a horribly shot image to be brought back to life. It is perfectly OK to manipulate an image. There are no rules, law or regulations against it. You're creating art. But when people add clouds, milky way, moon, unicorn, a shooting star and flying pigs, pelicans and planes to every image and then deny any image manipulation it is just a destruction of their integrity. Because those that are professionals or have a few years of advanced photography under their belt can spot an image that replaced the sky or added elements that did not belong to the image. Yeah I know, IG is not Guggenheim - It goes back to my original question from last post. What is your goals in photography? Photographer? Or a Digital Artist? Because the 2 are not the same and there is another name for passing something as what it is not. <As always, thanks for your love and support> ___________________________________ The quieter you become, the more you are able to hear. From the coast of Southern California _______________________________________ f i e r c e . p a s s i o n _______________________________________ I got good news and bad news...good news is I will be posting more of my final images that I've been reluctant to post on social media in general. The bad news is that you will have to get used to this weird hour in the middle of night I've been posting. This was by far one of my most memorable shoots I've done. As much as most people go crazy over my more peaceful and colorful work, my personal preference is drawn to this madness in sky and ocean. I'm not going to lie, during this shoot and others similar to this I've had one or two of those "oh shit" moments when nature slaps you just to show you who's running the show. Maybe that's why I'm drawn to these images...maybe it's the rush or actually working hard to earn the shot. Playing chicken with the fierce madness of the ocean. The challenge. YES! The challenge of capturing the perfect shot that will tell the story, and show the beauty hidden in the madness of her storm. It's almost like watching a beautiful ballet, that is unpredictable, gracious and vicious at the same time. <As always, thanks for your love and support> ___________________________________ what is planted in each person's soul will sprout Rumi ____________________________________

From the coast of Southern California _______________________________________ s e c o n d . c h a n c e _______________________________________ Haven't had time to do any shoots the past week or so and been very limited on time. In situations like this I tend to go back to my past shoots that have been sitting there to be reviewed and sorted. I won't post anything that is not print worthy so it takes more time to make sure the image is flawless for large print. What is your photography goals? what are you ultimately trying to achieve? If your serious or working to become a serious photographer and advance your skills, you will need to venture outside of a 3" screen which is what a half decent photography equipment is made for. If you want people to truly appreciate your work more than 10 seconds, a well printed image displayed on a wall will bring a life to your creation for years to be admired and appreciated.
