2020 Simming Goals

The last 18 months or so have very much been about surviving mental health problems for me. I've barely played The Sims 2, or indeed engaged consistently with many hobbies. I think (hope?) that things are improving, and there are plenty of TS2-related things that I hope to do this year!

In no particular order, here goes!

1. Get a 'hood, any 'hood, set up in a way that allows me to play in the way that I enjoy. OK, I guess that these points are at least slightly in order, as this is the main thing that I want to do!

2. Set up and start playing an "Alaskan" (rural, isolated and very cold!) version of PeniG's Widespot. Possibly as a connected-but-not-geographically-nearby subhood of Nekojima.

3. Set up and start playing a themed 'hood. I'm struggling to settle on a theme, though? A space station? An Antarctic research facility? A Victorian 'hood? A supernatural 'hood? A prehistoric 'hood? An Iron Age/Roman Britain 'hood? So. Many. Choices!

4. Sort out my Downloads folder - primarily this will involve ensuring that all of the mods that I use work together properly, as well as getting rid of a few bits of CC that I don't use and making sure that everythings organised.

5. Be more involved with the TS2 community. Post more on MTS/GOS/PBK, be active here on Tumblr and on PillowFort, join in with different events, creating themes and challenges on various different sites. I really love the TS2 community and how active, supportive and generally wonderful it is, and I hope to be more consistently present and involved this year than I have been over the last couple of years.

Thank you @simgaroop for tagging me for the 2021 Simming Goals thing! I thought it would be interesting to look back on my 2020 Simming Goals post to see how my goals have changed.

I didn't actually achieve any of the simming things I'd hoped to do last year. I was mistaken when I thought that my mental health was improving - though the weirdness of 2020 obviously didn't help! I managed to get Nekojima set up for the way that I play, but I only played one round. I just couldn't focus on it. That's definitely a me thing, because it's a fabulous 'hood!

I am sad that I didn't achieve any of my goals, but only because I wanted to have fun with TS2, not because I think that I should've done better. 2020 was a challenging year and I did my best! I have simplified my simming goals for 2021, in the hope that I may manage to get back into playing the game this year.

1. I want to get a neighbourhood set up and actually get in to playing it on a semi-regular basis. I'm toying with giving @katatty's Europa a go, or perhaps having another play with my all-time favourite - @penig's Widespot. We shall see how things go!

2. Downloads-wise I would really like to stop using Inteen, which requires me to find mods to replace the aspects of it that I want to keep and get my mods folder organised and functional. Eeeek!

3. Have fun with The Sims 2, in whatever way works for me. Perhaps that'll be thinking about my favourite premade sims and my head-canon for them, or working on the "paperwork" for the uberhood that I know I'll never set up and play, or planning loads of 'hoods and never creating any of them, or admiring and downloading all of the amazing CC that I see (Archery! ARCHERY!) but never actually playing the game. I just want to enjoy the game in some way without putting pressure on myself, even if that means not actually playing it!

4. As a slightly humorous goal, I hope that in 2021 I'll manage at least ten posts here on Tumblr, so that at the end of the year I can do that "top 10 posts" thing that so many people do :-D

Does anyone know where I can find bienchen83′s sausages for download? They used to be on their website, but the site no longer exists and I don’t think they ever uploaded them onto Mod The Sims. I’m looking for the one that’s just sausages - there is also one which is sausages with some kind of salad, and I think also one which is sausages with mustard. I’m after the one that’s just a plate of plain sausages.

I would love to have the sausages in my game, so I would really appreciate a link if anyone has one! :-)

Thank you for answering my ask about the lack of bills/mail delivery people on Akari and Satoshi's lots. I tested a clean version of Nekojima, without the Visitor Controller in my Downloads folder, and a mail delivery person (not the elder in a blue hat; a newly spawned adult) does arrive on Akari's lot, which I tested. 

Akari gets a rebate because of the solar panels, but the mail person does come on to the lot and isn't zapped away. 

So I guess that I'm having Visitor Controller-related issues or something in my original Nekojima.....

Massive Data Loss

Okay, so…my drive corrupted that was storing the last 6 months of projects I’ve been working on. Many that were close to being released. And no I didn’t back it up…that’s a failure on my part. You can bet I’ll be backing up and then backing up my backups in the future. I have been unable to restore the data myself and have actually now sent my dive off for data recovery. It’s going to cost me a pretty penny of way too many hundreds of dollars but on that drive were also personal things and even files I cannot get back or duplicate. So to me, it’s worth it. Now pray that they dudes can indeed get all the information off of it and back to me. Just to give you an idea of what was lost here’s a sad list:

Fishing Holes, Fish Packing Stations, Seafood Traps/Foraging Spots, Bait Sources

Maxis Crop Packing Station

Grains, Rice, and flour converter.

Miner’s update/Geode Cracking

Industrial Tea Crop, Tea Pots, Various Effect Tea

Potions Making and Various Effect Potions

Various Fixes for Basket Weaver, Miner, Ducks/Geese, Herbs/Spices.

Food/Treasure Hunting Animals

Fruit and Nut Vendors

Study Aid Objects/Recipe Books

Sheep Livestock

That’s just the sims package files…I also lost all my textures, my clone base files, reference files, code pulls, and my Big Book of GUIDs. These later things I have backed up older versions for some of them but anything new texture or update wise it gone.

Some of these files I can recover from the helpful simmers that have helped me along the way lately. If you’re one of them, I’ll be getting in contact with you because maybe you’re better than I am and have a backup.

So yeah…that’s where I am on projects at current. I’m going to hope for the best and in the meantime work on other files that I had planned but didn’t start yet and have the resources to do.

Sorry guys, won’t be anything released anytime soon unless I get the data back.

Along with Sun&Moon stuff, I have also lost projects that were branded only under Fractured Moonlight. Most notably;

Kindred Cabinets Set (That teal and incendiary counter you keep seeing in previews was a WHOLE KITCHEN SET).

Trash Chutes - I medieval-ized and magic-fied them.

Frac and Davina Get Wasted - Various Stuff

In effort to be completely transparent it has been suggested to me that I give out that exact price and also put up a paypal donate button. So the price tag on this is $475 dollars. Which as I stated is a lot of hundreds of dollars for some invisible number data for a thing I make no money off of doing that is strictly a hobby for the most part.
