not to grip your shoulders desperately for a moment, but i never personally saw caithe’s egg thievery as an illogical progression of her character. there’s a consistent thread of this profound loneliness and uncertainty in her throughout the personal story. i don’t blame people for finding her later actions random, either, because it’s possible to just miss a lot of this stuff and some time had transpired - but look at the twilight arbor dungeon, where she enlists you, rytlock, and logan to help her confront her evil ex (afraid of succumbing to her plant wiles). and rytlock and logan get angry at her, and both ditch mid-dungeon. leaving only you by her side - which she comments on. and meanwhile faolain is saying, look how all your friends abandon you, no one will stick by you - but i will, so give up and come to the dark side already. and you can see how caithe believes this, with only the commander as her anchor otherwise. and caithe is basically gripping the commander for dear life at this point. there’s that vision from the pale tree of the doomed future where destiny’s edge never reconciles, and caithe feels so hopeless and alone she does actually run back to faolain. and at lion’s arch where she first tries to get destiny’s edge back together, and they only bicker and storm off - and she, despondent, is left with a sylvari commander who can assure her that they are still here for her, at least, and caithe says, no, you’re right…i suspect that will be my only comfort that gets me through the nights to come. she is literally sending you (sylvari commander) DMs like this

I think what hits me, time and time again, is that the tragedy isn't in the actual act of killing the dragons, per se. It's that they were born with such love and purpose, and somehow lost their way. To the point that there was no walking back from it. That their own mother said that there was no other way- the only answer to save their world was in their deaths.

Tyria is healing in the wake of the loss of the Elder Dragons. Even after all the pain and fear, the world will recover. We already know Orr was healing, as early as S3 when we reached Siren's Landing. I'd assume other areas are similar, even if we haven't seen it directly.

And it is still a story of hope. That so long as we stick together, keep moving forward. One foot in front of the other. We can succeed and, ultimately, survive.

But hope came at the loss of children whose mother couldn't have known how her loneliness would shape the world, and her own end.

Instead, check out the following: - Living World Roleplayers LWRP, for general GW2 RP connections - Ascalon Accord pertaining to Ascalon specifically, ie Black Citadel and Ebonhawke - Krytan Coalition for Krytan stuff - GW2RP caard for a big list of links to active RP guilds (no association to the Discord afaik). Guilds most actively advertise in those three discords, especially LWRP. There is a lot of overlap between the three main discords but they have their own flavor and specific events. Each have places where you can look for RP, post character profiles, and browse guild adverts and upcoming events. There are discords for nobility and other niche hubs.

Food pantries are a punch in the nuts to your pride but they require WAY less hoops to jump through to get than the financial side of housing assistance. Also, there is often going to be MORE RESOURCES AVAILABLE for you when it comes to food assistance of MULTIPLE TYPES (food stamps/ebt, places that double said EBT, food pantries, places that just give away free food like soup kitchens, places that give away their leftovers from the day before etc) rather than housing assistance which are neither numerous nor are people likely to apply for.

I personally have used food pantries. I may have to use them again. They are there to help you for that reason, okay? Please fucking choose to pay your rent until we can abolish landlords and live on mutual aid.

Stay housed. Do you hear me, if this choice happens, seek mutual aid or charity for food and STAY HOUSED. Statistically, it is better to take the hit to your pride, go ask for food assistance, and sleep in your bed and eat that food in your home because coming back from losing said home is going to be so much harder that recovering from food insecurity is.

“eir is a deadbeat mom” ❌ eir chose not to be anyone’s mother, which was absolutely within her rights. she is, however, someone who makes most of her choices out of shame & regret and denies herself the pursuit of joy & excellence she was once motivated by and made hard sacrifices for. she’s unpracticed at vulnerability & doesn’t value herself much, which can make her hard to love 👍

“kas is a flake/makes her crisis of faith your problem” ❌ kasmeer is one of dw’s most doggedly consistent, bright, and cautious members. she stuck by the commander during her crisis of faith, which she mostly suffered through in private, and dealt with by weaving her own safety net of community & spiritual/heroic work outside the guild, so she wouldn’t burden you. she is, however, a total monarchist in anise’s pocket 👍
