Are aquariums still considered good? Cuz ours has a bunch of sea animals that were brought in due to injuries, and that seems like a good thing to help them out until they can go back in the ocean.

Aquariums function like aquatic zoos IF they are non-profit and accredited. For instance the National Aquarium does have dolphins BUT last year they stopped doing shows and literally just let the dolphins do what they want. People can come in to watch the dolphins and trainers still are there but now are less “trainers” and more “human toys.” Breeding efforts have stopped and they announced they’re going to care for their existing pod and play as the POD wants for the rest of their life and after that, no dolphins.

Almost all their fish are nearly 20 years old (or less depending on natural life cycle, or MORE… there are a few close to 50) and they also have rehabilitation and release programs for injured animals. Since they are non-profit every bit of money goes to constant improvements in their tanks, research, and conservation efforts.

Sea World, despite all their advertising and talk, is a for profit organization that is more concerned with the paychecks than with animal welfare. Baltimore aquarium got a lot of people in with their dolphin shows but they stopped when learning it wasn’t best for their animals. Sea World has no such concern.

Learn before you burn 

Keep the zoos and aquariums. Fuck sea world and circuses.

Circuses have been getting rid of their animals in favour of human entertainment because most of them are recognizing the problems with keeping these animals which is more than I can say for sea world. So… fuck sea world.

I've been barely making ends meet these last couple months and it's been kinda tearing me up. Patreon keeps going down even though I feel like I'm doing good work. And YouTube has completely stopped promoting my videos so nothing I make leads to any new pledges. I dunno, it's awful and I'm scared. I have a really exciting month for content planned for February and I just hope I don't have to start figuring out low income housing or something on top of the rest of the workload. God it's been such a nightmare.

It feels like I'm working myself to death over here to get a lot of great content out, that I'm really proud of, and then no one clicks on it and YouTube just doesn't put it in subscription feeds anymore. I don't know what to do about that.

People need to immediately fight back against these smears led by the far-right/right-wing/center who are now weaponizing antisemitism even against Jewish people. It is disgusting to say that Bernie Sanders, a Jewish person who lost family members in the Holocaust, is antisemitic. This has and always will be about stopping a democratic socialist politician who supports Palestinian rights from gaining power. It is shameful and it must be shut down immediately.

Just as in the UK, Boris Johnson’s antisemitism and support of the far-right was minimized and excluded from discussion. Donald Trump’s alignment with the far-right and his own antisemitism has been minimized and replaced with outrage over people like Ilhan Omar (which peddles in Islamophobia).

An important point regarding the smears against Jeremy Corbyn was that a portion of the electorate viewed him as being “too supportive” of the Muslim community. Boris Johnson’s Islamophobia wasn’t viewed as an issue, because there are sadly many in the media and general public who don’t even view Islamophobia as racism. What is clear, is that the right-wing/center continually chooses to side with fascists over socialists and selectively chooses what counts as racism.

I don’t know if this is deliberate or not, but I really want to call attention to the way this is worded to make it look like people who ship inherently unacceptable pairings are the goods guys who are victims of unprovocated attacks.

People who ignore pedophilic ships are the good guys. “Ship and let ship,” no matter what. They believe we can all coexist in the same fandom space and have a good time.

But the people who are actively against pedophilic, incestuous, etc ships and who seek out the adults producing that content? Those are “antis,” the bad guys.

And then the genius of it is that the “anti” label is also used for people who ARE actually just plain old jerks and who attack people just because they’re shipping something that IS innocent that they don’t like.

So the word used to label people against pedophilia is also used for people who are being mean for no reason, thus grouping them together and making it possible to invalidate the first group.

“OP is an anti.” People who understand anti to mean “attacks people who don’t agree with their ships” will understandably think “wow, OP is a jerk!” And they may not look any further and discover OP actually only actively shames people who ship pedophilia, incest, etc.

These same people use excuses such as mental illness, their own history of abuse, etc. to argue that they cannot be shamed for their content, because it’s discrimination against them.

They are using concepts of social justice and bigotry to their advantage to rearrange the situation so that they are the victims.

So actually let’s stop calling people against minor/adult shipping content “antis” and just call them “Correct.”
