This postmodern bullshit that “avoiding the expected” and “shocking your audience” is more important than writing a good and coherent narrative has to die in a fire because it’s ruining storytelling.

Hmm, yes, this is exactly how I feel about Game of Thrones right now. The writers are being so lazy when it comes to season 8 and I’m just ready for it to end. Rhaegal’s death was so unnecessary, brutal and just for shock value, Missandei’s death was so sad and tragic, and Daenerys is losing everything she loves. I’m so done with this show and the writers and what they’re doing to my favorite characters. Jon being praised for riding a dragon and fighting in battle, things Daenerys has been doing since she birthed the dragons. Sansa being a complete bitcth towards Daenerys, which if it weren’t for her and her dragons, Winterfell would be a horde of corpses in the Night King’s army heading for King’s Landing. I sometimes wish Daenerys had stayed in Meereen, where people adored her, where she still had Jorah and her three dragons, wish she had never met Jon Snow, because he is ruining their relationship by telling his family about his true parentage, something she warned him would happen if he spoke the truth, and yet he did it anyway. The writers are being so careless, so lazy and I’m done with with it. This season is turning out so bad, I’m so disappointed and I’m just ready for it to end. Daenerys has lost everything, her children, her most trusted advisors are turning against her, her Khalasar, she lost her best friend, the man that has been with her since the beginning, and the man she loves. They are taking her down the Mad Queen route, and honestly, after everything she’s been through, I’m ready for her to set fire to King’s Landing and burn it to the ground, something she should have done from the beginning when she had her Dothraki, the Unsullied, and her dragons. She shouldn’t have listened to Tyrion, should have never went to help Jon. She should have stayed in Meereen or went straight for King’s Landing. The show is coming to an awful end, and I don’t even want to watch it anymore. This show is not what it used to be.

dany: lives her whole life in exile, living on the streets starving with her sexually abusive brother who was driven into insanity with the thought of re-gaining their family’s fallen legacy

dany: sold as a sex slave

dany: loses her husband just as things are starting to become loving

dany: loses her child as well as any chance to have another child

dany: is constantly insulted and harassed for being a female ruler

dany: loses 1/3 of her dragons while saving jon 

dany: goes to protect winterfell with everything she has, leaving her kingdoms vulnerable to the max, only to be bombarded with xenophobes and sexism and the mad king’s daughter insults

dany: loses her claim to the iron throne and all she had ever built towards and been told to live for, all to the love of her life who does not even want it, but he has a dick so hes got it

dany: loses 99% of the Dothraki and Unsullied and the one man who had stuck with her through all her hardships who only cared about her safety and belief in her reign, all to protect the xenophobes against her previously murdered, zombified child and new slave master; something of which she had been banning for,,, the whole series

dany: sees that her claim to the iron throne is even more weakened by the way her opponent, someone whom she still loves and does not want the throne, is around his followers

dany: is constantly questioned with her state of mind 

dany: is constantly being questioned about her idea of rule, despite it being needed at this point

dany: needs to beg jon to not destroy the claim for something he doesnt even want…only for him to not listen to her anyway

dany: is constantly snarked by s/nsa for literally existing

dany: is forced to go onto a ship with her advisors that are for some reason, fearing her rule

dany: watches yet another, 2/3 dragon fall a brutal death into the sea right in front of her, plus most of her fleet coming to follow her to the red keep

dany: is not able to avenge either dragons’ deaths - both being by the names of her brothers, aka her only family shed known

dany: takes the remaining 40 men to attempt to save her innocent friend

dany: loses her innocent friend violently just for cersei to prove a point

dany: starts to lose sanity

Now normally I don’t write about Game of Thrones, but this is a major exception. I’ve followed Daenerys since day one and all her development. Her darkest to lightest moments, her saddest to happiest moments, and her lowest to highest moments. She’s saved so many of those who needed saving and she set an example of what it meant to be a true Queen of the seven kingdoms while not even being on it. Now granted, at the end of the last season I was a bit skeptical about her and a little into the beginning of this season. But I finally understood her in tonight’s episode. She has lost her army, the one she worked so hard to build, by fighting for a cause different from her aim of the throne because it meant the death of thousands if not millions. She lost the closest and most trusted of her men who fought for her and stood by her cause for the throne. She went ahead and tried to make Cersei surrender only to lose someone she also freed, loved, and lost. And she lost two of the dragons that she came out of the fire with and whom she considered her children. Do you want to tell me that if you have lost everything you built and fought for, you wouldn’t want to say “fuck the nice way, I’m done. I’m taking it by force”. She has been nothing but trying to not be like her family of madness. She has fought so hard for the one thing that kept her going, being Daenerys Targaryen. And here goes people like Cersei or Sansa doubting her? She is angry and she has EVERY single right to that anger. If her anger makes her the “Mad Queen”, then so be it. Like she said, “Daenerys Stormborn made every effort to avoid bloodshed, and Cersei Lannister refused. They should know whom to blame when the sky falls upon them.”

TAKE IT AND BURN IT ALL DOWN WITH FIRE AND BLOOD.
