I don't ever really talk about W/CoD or MtA/A on here but. I randomly had an idea, someone has probably done it before. A Life centric mage that skirts paradox by being a televangelist.

Was talking to Hubby about this and he said the biggest issue you were likely to run into is the Technocracy. He really liked my idea for the first part of a multi campaign game. Namely said Televangelist Mage banking on the Technocracy coming after them and setting things up in such a way to martyr themselves and turn public opinion against whatever front the Technocracy is using.

In theory the second campaign would be trying to get the Traditions to work together to have an all out war against the Technocracy.

Would be fun to play I think.

Last follow up on this XD

I know The chances are nil, but if anyone plays or keeps up with the setting, or even doesn't lol, and has thoughts on the idea, I'd love to hear them!

Even less likely, if anyone likes the idea enough to run with it, omg please tell me how it goes.

Sound idea, might see if this could work in Awakening Probably not, but I would have to read more into it.

do you habe any advice on making your own Wisdom breaking points? Or Acts of Hubris or something?

The thing with Wisdom is that it's pretty individual, and as such I see that less as a list of triggers and more situational

The way I see it, Wisdom is a measure of self control - hence why enraged murder, a completely mundane act, is a Falling AoH. A wizard who loses their shit and kills people because they're angry won't have any discretion when casting magic. At its worst you become a Rapt, who literally *cannot* control their obsessions even if they want to.

So when I think about acts of hubris for my characters, it's usually moments where they don't show restraint when they should and things go catastrophically as a result. Enlightened would include even minor instances of lack of self control, understanding is a normal "if someone gets hurt that's bad" lack of self control, and falling is when you get into atrocities.

Stu, let me ask you a question: how did you not realize until then that you had too many eggs? Nobody sells eggs in a big cloth-covered basket, so you must have done that yourself. That means you spent god-knows-how-long opening up twelve whole cartons of eggs, carefully placing each egg one-by-one inside a big basket, and then covering it with a big picnic cloth… and at no point- at no point- did you ever stop and think “gee, there might be TOO MANY FUCKING EGGS HERE

You really have lost control of your life.

I may have gone overboard with this

[Image Description: Three fake screenshots using the Disco Elysium text format. It is set in a small apartment, and instead of Harry and Kim are Billy (who has pale skin, short black hair, and looks exhausted) and Thaddeus (similarly pale skin, white hair and a beard). Each screenshot progresses the text on the right, as follows:

THADDEUS - "I just... I feel like anybody else would have done better."

EMPATHY [Easy: Success] - His voice was soft, like he doesn't want to admit his weakness out loud. It wasn't entirely what he meant, anyway. It was less that anybody else would have done better, but anybody else would be better.

YOU - "Here's to being alive." You take a longer drink as you contemplate how to respond to Thaddeus's last statement--

PENDRAGON - Stick your hand down his pants.

  1. That's a GREAT idea.
  2. I beg your pardon? (Selected)

PENDRAGON - Put down the fucking glass and stick your hand down his pants. He'll probably yell at you or something, but it'll definitely shift the mood.

  1. He's right. Do it immediately.
  2. I could do more than stick a hand down his pants.
  3. No! No. What the fuck. (Selected)

YOU - You sit up and place the glass on a table so you don't break it or something, before settling back into position. Scrub a hand across your face.

PAIN THRESHOLD [Medium: Success] - Shift your left arm for a moment, rolling your shoulder, because god it ached but also the pain was clarifying.

YOU - "It doesn't matter what anybody else would have or could have done. Do you know why? They weren't there. You were there, and you did what you could, and it made a difference. Maybe not the difference you wanted, but god, I wish I'd done things differently, too--"

THE HANGED MAN - Honestly, the pants thing isn't Pendragon's worst idea.

  1. "Oh my god, why is everyone so talkative suddenly?" (Selected)
  2. No, you've fucked it. Hand. Pants. Now.

CAJETAN - Because they want to you to ask Thaddeus out and they're both very bad at subtlety. Don't stick your hand down his pants, mind. But maybe ask him out for coffee.

  1. [Composure - Difficult] Ask him out for coffee. (Selected)
  2. Stay quiet. Now's not the time.
  3. HAND. PANTS. NOW.

COMPOSURE [Difficult: Success] - You take a moment to compose yourself, mutter something about your brain being made of bullshit and duct tape, then shift to look Thaddeus more directly in the eye.

YOU - "Look, I realize I'm an idiot, but would you like to go out sometime?"

End ID.]

reading a thread by @king-of-the-dots and another mutual thread and it just. fit too fucking well

why did I spend so much time on this? I very easily could have chosen to not do it like this.

Timmy: We were both wrong

Jimmy: But not equally wrong. You were at least six times more wrong than me

You are so right. Jimmy would absolutely go that far just to be right about something

Jimmy has rewritten Wikipedia articles to be correct, Wikipedia mods have tried to IP ban him but it never works

100% he has. Even if they did succeed with that, it wouldn't be enough to stop him
