Voting won’t solve this, if “vote” is your response to a systemically racist government then you’re not paying attention or you just don’t care.

Voting for those that have a plan to reform the police based on BLM requirements. Like a police data based, ending qualified immunity, officers need to live in the places they serve etc. if those that are for these changes yes voting matters.

65 years ago, TODAY!

"The men who lynched and stole the life of Emmett Till were acquitted today despite the overwhelming evidence of the defendants’ guilt. Jurors acquitted Roy Bryant and J.W. Milam of all charges involving Emmett Till's murder. Their deliberations lasted ONLY 67 minutes. They later confessed to the murder and were paid $4,000. Let’s us also not forget that in 2017 Carolyn Bryant Donham admitted to lying that Emmett had grabbed and threatened her inside her husband's store.
In 2020, TODAY (65 years later from the Emmett Till case)! Brett Hankison only gets charged with wanton endangering, while Myles Cosgrove and Jonathan Mattingly, were not charged AT ALL! Here is the kicker, the three wanton endangerment charges for Hankison are not related to Breonna Taylor's death. They are charges for shots he fired that went into neighboring apartments. Hankison was booked and released in Shelby County in 32 minutes.
Please make it make sense? Know that once again history has repeated itself. My Blackness is once again disturbed and my heart is broken. The past is not past. It resurfaces showing the same evils that never went away because we continually allow harmful people to lead. Will you vote now? Will you raise your voice now? Or will let generations of Black people continue to suffer at the hands of White supremacy and systematic racism? It’s the same whether you see it in Black and White or Color (I specifically chose these colors for the photos)! These injustices continue!"

The sports world reacts after no officers were indicted for killing Breonna Taylor.

It’s like Ivan Ave said, “the system ain’t broken, it’s only working how they built it.”

Fuck this country.

Strange Fruit, Volume II: More Uncelebrated Narratives from Black History (2018)

“Strange Fruit Volume II: More Uncelebrated Narratives from Black History” is a collection of stories from early African American history that represent the oddity of success in the face of great adversity. Each of the eight illustrated chapters chronicles an uncelebrated African American hero or event.

Joel Christian Gill offers historical and cultural commentary on heroes whose stories are not often found in history books, such as Cathay Williams, the only known female buffalo soldier, and Eugene Bullard, a fighter pilot who flew for France during World War II. These beautifully illustrated stories offer a refreshing look at remarkable African Americans.

Joel Christian Gill is the Chair of Foundations at the New Hampshire Institute of Art and recipient of the 2016 Boston University College of Fine Arts Alumni Award. He wrote the words and drew the pictures in “Strange Fruit, Volume I: Uncelebrated Narratives from Black History”, “Bass Reeves: Tales of the Talented Tenth, Volume 1”, and “Bessie Stringfield: Tales of the Talented Tenth, Volume 2”.

Joel received his MFA from Boston University and a BA from Roanoke College. His secret lair is behind a secret panel in the kitchen of his house (sold separately) in New Boston, New Hampshire.

Finding out that Dove Soap and Dove Chocolates are different companies has the exact same energy as finding out that Michelin Tires and the Michelin Star Rating System (which rates the finest restaurants in the world) are actually the same company.

“It doesn’t make sense. It feels like it defies all of the rules. U can’t take Kobe. And u definitely cannot take Kobe & his daughter.

None of us are exempt from life & death. May we understand & learn why we are here & use our time wisely.

May God carry the Bryant family through”

I remember seeing a different post pointing out that Native Americans are basically already living a post-apocalyptic world.

That reminds me of when I read about some Black people who lived through the Great Depression and they were just like, “the whites really got worked up when they started having to live like they force us to.”

I think it’s why I really haven’t cared about white people who suddenly got real political or aware or active because of “Trump’s America.” America looks exactly the same as it always was to me. All shade.
