“Nice, or possibly this is the first scene to Psycho,” he said flatly, falling into step beside the taller boy. “An allowance to, you know, lure me in only to use my skin for a coat when January comes.” He smirked over at Archie. “Thanks for not doing that while I lived here.”
“It might’ve been mainly because I just didn’t really need a new coat, but you’re welcome,” Archie joked. The walk to Pop’s was one he could make in his sleep, so he could focus most of his attention on his friend. “Seriously, though. Are they a good family?”

Fred Andrews had been in the hospital for a few days now. He still wasn’t out of the woods yet, but the doctors told Archie that he was doing better and that they were optimistic his dad would make a full recovery. OPTIMISM wasn’t a guarantee, and things could go wrong in the blink of an eye, so the redhead spent all of his time at his father’s bedside. He slept on and off in the uncomfortable chair and lived off the occasional cafeteria meal or vending machine snack; he was making it work, given that he definitely wanted to be there when his dad woke up.
Eventually, though, he reluctantly decided to make a trip home. He needed a shower, and some fresh clothes — the change of scenery would probably do him good, too, because constantly staring at the same four white walls and dwelling on his worry was admittedly beginning to drive him a little crazy. Betty look his place, promising to call if anything changed, and Archie left the hospital. He planned on returning within the hour, but ended up drifting off when he took a moment to stretch out on his bed. He only woke up from the unintentional nap when the doorbell rang. Archie rubbed the sleep from his eyes as he headed down the stairs to answer it.

‘‘It’s just one of the few things that I’m always right about.’‘ He’s only half joking about that. He nods at the redhead when he agrees for pizza and grabs the phone. It only takes a few minutes to order their usual. ‘‘Great now we just have to wait for it to get here. Movie night? Or do want to be a video game traitor and kill me again?’’
Once the pizza was ordered — they both liked the same kind, which always made it easy — they took a seat on the couch in the living room to wait for it. “Hey, that was one time,” Archie defended himself with a grin. Or twice, maybe. Sometimes he got into the game and lost track of whether they were playing on the same team or not. “Let’s play video games. I won’t kill you.”

“It doesn´t matter if he did it or not, Archie. Don´t you get it?” Jug sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose. “This whole town has already deemed him guilty, they don´t care who really did it as long as someone is being punished for it.” He glanced back at the other boy. “There´s nothing we can do, Archie.”
“It does matter. The person who really murdered Jason is still out there, and they’ll just get away with it if FP takes the fall. I don’t want that to happen — your dad doesn’t deserve it.” The town was happy to have someone to put the blame on, even if it wasn’t the right person. That didn’t make it right, though. “We need to find out who the actual killer is.” Easier said than done, Archie knew, but it was probably the only way to prove FP’s innocence at this point.
