Hello again!

Hi friends!!

I have not been active here for months and i’ve missed this community so much!!

My job was draining everything out of me and my mental health took a real dive. I hadn’t picked up a book in months and was barely going out and interacting with friends. I was becoming a shell of myself.

That came to end this past weekend, when I made the decision to resign my position at work. It was not easy, but I know it was right. I feel more relieved and stress-free than I have in months. PLUS, I just finished reading the first book I’ve properly picked up in a long time. I’m happy. Unemployed and without insurance to pay for my meds, but happy!

I’m so happy to be back here again! I know i’ve missed a lot, but I also know that you’re all still amazing and that coming back will be better than ever with all of you!

Now, let’s get to reading 😁📚

I was going to wait for the audiobook from the library for this one since I was quite underwhelmed with One Last Stop, but I’ve heard great things about it and the new independent bookstore in town had signed copies, so here we are.

Freya loves books! She is a pretty good listener when I read aloud.

She has also attempted to sniff, lick, and nibble at what I’m reading. Ah, the joys of just turning 1 year old 🥳

Read this month: May 2022

So many outstanding books! And I am pretty current with the trends and new releases (rather untypical for me).

  • O. Atwater: Half A Soul (eARC)
  • Neon Yand: The Tensorat series (tbrbusterchallenge)
  • S. McGuire: Where The Drowned Girls Go
  • B. Aaronovitch: Amongst Our Wapons
  • T. Kingfisher: Nettle and Bone
  • J. Cranor + J. Fink: Welcome to Nightvale (audio)

My avarage rating over all these books is four stars. And I enjoyed them all, even the ones that were not as good would still have stood out in other months. Now for June, I should tackle more of my #tbrbusterchallenge books - but there are still two highly anticipated new releases on my shelf, tempting me. We’ll see how it goes.

I spent most of my day organizing my bookshelves (finally) in my new place  and used old booklr photos of them to remember where/how I had everything placed and it was really hard for some of them because I hardly ever took photos of my lower shelves because of bad lighting so I had to zoom in on photos where they were sort of visible in the background 😅 An effort was made though and that’s what counts!!

I started reading both of these in February or March but then I had to return them to the library before I could finish them. I got tired of being on the waitlist so I finally bought them so I can finish them!
