I frowned as I puffed on my pipe, examining all these humans behind round shades. Such powerful heartbeats, quickened by their bodies moving in time to the music - well, most of them anyway. Others were just drunk foolish bastards who’s current state told them they could dance. This wasn’t dancing, not the way I remembered it…

But I sniffed the air, turning quickly as a girl caught my eye. And the scent of her blood was, well, intoxicating. My eyes were darkening, a pupiless black by now, I was sure of that. Lucky I wore my shades. “Hello, Miss. Odd place for a pretty lady like you. You look like you should be at Cotillion.” I grinned. Of course she looked like she fit right in here, but her eyes and her face were lovely. And I liked nice eyes, liked lookin’ in them.

“Cotillion? Well if I didn’t know better, I’d say you were flirting with me. Am I right?” She new that she would catch someone’s eye with her short black dress. Ruby liked being the prettiest girl in the room. She thrives on it. “You could get me something to drink. You know, if you are actually interested. My drink’s whiskey.”

Two churches located across the street from each other. At least the Catholics have a sense of humor.

Hel eased herself into the seat and quickly pulled her legs into the car. She leaned out before he had the chance to close the door, “Mind if I put my feet on the seat?” 

"Uhhhh," Josh stuttered, "Yeah, why not." He waited for her to lift her feet, and then shut the door. He got into the drivers seat and turned on the car. The engine roared to life and he looked over to Hel to see her reaction to his car.

Her expression was a stark contradiction of her words, apprehensive and unsure. “Yes. That’ll be good. I know exactly what I’m going to get.” 

"Good." As they walked to the car he open her door and waited for he to get in.

“How can I choose what I want if I don’t even know where we’re going?” She tentatively rubbed her tummy. There were more than a few things she could think of eating. Though, if it was hot and edible, she wasn’t otherwise particularly fussed. 

"We are going to wing stop. Does that help," he asked slightly bending over with his arms spread out.

Hel snorted softly as she watched him clamber about after his possesions. While he did that, she rolled her shoulders back and forced her wings out of sight. “And what makes you think I’d get in your car?” she said, acting like his phone hadn’t made a peep.

"Because we are hungry and I drive." He looked a bit confused but didn't really give her question any thought. "Do you know what your going to get already, or are you going to choose when we get there?"

Her expression was half incredulous, half amused. “What a horrifying thought pattern.” she remarked, smiling playfully. “I’m always hungry.”

"Wonderful! I'll drive. As he pulled his keys out and walked he dropped his wallet on the ground and his ID fell out along with a 20. He went to pick it up, but his phone began to ring and he became distracted slightly while he checked it.

Hel’s hand came down hard and fast to slap his before he’d barely had the chance to touch a feather. “Touching a crow’s feathers would probably be less perilous.” 

"Geez. Sorry. All I want is some wings now, wanna go," he asked with a small, charming smile? "I'm getting kinda hungry. What about you!"

“I guess a layman would assume I was the angel of death or something?” 

"Could've fooled me." He chuckled slightly. "I could've swore you were a crow," He reached over to feel the wings.

“So.. If someone were to enter a costume contest with wings and a ‘mask’ that were not exactly a costume.. how morally object-able would that be?” 

“Depends. Do they match?”

“I suppose they do?? It’s pretty obvious they go together, but they don’t ‘’match’’.” 

"Imagine I'm someone who doesn't think they clearly go together. What are you supposed to be dressed up as? A bird?"

“So.. If someone were to enter a costume contest with wings and a ‘mask’ that were not exactly a costume.. how morally object-able would that be?” 

"Depends. Do they match?"

          “Do you believe in coincidences?”

"Yeah, why? You us meeting is one?"

“You made tonight very special… Thank you.”

“Why thank you. You weren’t so bad yourself. We should try this again sometime,“ Ruby said flirtatiously with a wide smile on her face. She has always blushed when someone made her feel special.
