Hello I just wanted to let you know the “it’s insanity, but…” fic is one of my favorite fics of all time. Ive reread chapters like two or three times a year since 2020 because I love it so much. Your writing of kids and the platonic brofriends that are Stiles and Scott are something I cannot live without. I’m on my 2nd reread of the year and feeling sufficiently overwhelmed and just wanted to gush to you about it. Thank you for writing it, I will treasure this fic forever ❤️

thank you so, so much! as someone who LOVES re-reading favorite books or fics, it is an honor that my fic has hit "re-read" status for you. you are too kind!!

that's one of those fics where I have the next three chapters planned out in my head but just not quite enough time to write them. one is actually half written-- one day! maybe during a vacation or something!

Hello, I don‘t want to put any pressure on you or anything, I‘m just curious as to whether you have plans to ever write a third part to Turning Tides? I just reread it and thought it wouldn’t hurt to ask. I completely understand if there never will be, I‘m not expecting anything and thank you so much for writing in the first place. 💚 I hope you‘re doing overall okay in life.

Thanks so much! Unfortunately, although at one point I had an outline in my head, I never wrote it down so I barely remember what was supposed to happen... the troubles of being a fanfic writer!

Thank you again for the kind words-- I am doing pretty great in life, though my job doesn't give me nearly as much time to write as I had in grad school, so that's my only regret. One day I'm sure the hobby will swing back around though.

I hope you too are doing well!

Hiya! Wanted to let you know that I just completed a frenzied reread of your "A Turning Tide" series and it's still one of my favorite fic series of its kind! I'm super glad to see you're still active in fandom and writing :D hope you have an excellent day!!!

Thank you so much! That's so kind-- I love that people are still reading my old fic and finding enjoyment from them. Gives me a reason to keep them posted!

idk if you’re aware already but there’s a very popular wolfstar fic called marginalia that is really similar to your fic defiance and progress

You know, I think someone else tried to tell me about this at one point and I started reading it and, sure, there are a few similarities with stiles/remus' backstory, but I don't think there's enough there to really panic or get upset about it! They added a lot more different things! Similarities happen sometimes in fanfic-- I've decided to be flattered rather than upset!

Thanks for your concern though, it's sweet of you to think of me!

has anyone else ever had a fanfic that just... haunts them? like it's been months and maybe even years since you read it, but it just lingers with you and you can never truly leave behind the imprint it made on you? and maybe it's just a single line, one sentence that you can't shake off, that takes up residence in your mind and stays there, feeding into your psyche and subtly influencing your brainspace and maybe even your writing or other works?

Hanging out with old people rules because after a while they trust you enough to confess to murder totally unprompted

Wait what.

Sometimes old ladies had to kick the ladder out from under their stepfathers when they were girls and that’s valid

oh, my little old lady murder story was her replacing the medication in her abusive husband's capsules with rat poison.

"back in the day, our grandmothers worked on their marriages and didn't get divorced!" nah, friend, they COULDN'T get a divorce so sometimes they killed their fuckin husbands. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

My grandma murdered her first husband the first time he beat their daughter.

My college was next to an assisted living facility and one time we went over there to draw people’s portraits so we could get practice drawing older people. The lady I was drawing idly told me that she "dealt quite handily with her first husband” while making a stabbing gesture. Five minutes later she requested I make sure not to draw her double chin. I honored that request.

So when I was a child my grandmother told all these great stories about growing up in the Alaskan wilderness. Amazing bad ass stories about her and my great-grandmother. I recently asked my mom why my great-grandmother moved from Texas to Alaska in the first place. Turns out my Great-grandfather was abusive to my great grandmother for years and she lived with that until the first time he hit my grandmother, who was like three at the time, my great-grandmother got him very drunk and beat him to death then moved to Alaska to hide from the cops.

Men don't realize their life expectancy went up thanks to divorce.

Figure 9.3 shows that the number of males killed by intimate partners dropped by 71.4% between 1976 and 2002. Researchers and advocates for battered women attribute this dramatic decline to the widespread availability of support services for women, including shelters, crisis counseling, hotlines, and legal measures such as protection and restraining orders. These services offer abused women options for escaping violence and abuse other than taking their partners' lives. Other factors that may have contributed to the decline are the increased ease of obtaining divorce and the generally improved economic conditions for women.
