[HIATUS] RP/Ask Blog for Captain Christopher Pike, as seen in STAR TREK: DISCOVERY and STAR TREK: STRANGE NEW WORLDS
Avatar

OOC: From the Mun - IMPORTANT

Okay, so...I'm interrupting my hiatus to highlight one of my Captain Pike creative/RP blog rules here:

Also, if you start posting a lot of political, activism and/or religious stuff, you’re going to get un-followed.  What you believe in or whoever has your political loyalty is your business, but there are far better venues for that material than in a roleplay blog in general and on my dash in particular.

I'm doing this because I've seen backlash against Anson Mount for stuff he's posted on Twitter (I refuse to call it "X") in relation to a certain hot-button topic. Let me make this powerfully and unmistakably clear:

I absolutely, positively do NOT have an atom's worth of fucks to give about your political/social views, or about how you feel about Anson's political/social views, except for how they annoy me when I see them in my dash.

In case that isn't enough to make it all sink in, allow me to elaborate:

What I feel or don't feel about his points of view are none of your concern, and you have no basis or right to judge me one way or another as you have no frame of reference.

Furthermore, my political/social views in general are no concern of yours, and unless I share them here, you'll never know them. Don't assume or guess; the odds are good that you'll be wrong.

I don't owe you my opinions on ANYTHING, and whatever I do share, I'll decide how much I want to expand on them, NOT you.

My liking an actor or actress has no bearing on their personal points of view, or mine. PERIOD. I don't need any celebrity to tell me how I should feel about something, and I don't have the arrogance to presume I have a say in how they feel.

I don't follow and admire an actor or actress because of their personal views. I follow them for their career-based talent and their body of work. Their personal feelings take a distant back seat.

I don't care about, or want to see, anything you have to say about me liking Anson Mount or the characters he plays. Don't bother sharing those opinions with me. If you do, you'll be immediately blocked.

If you try to insinuate that I feel one way or another about any political or social issue and weaponize that insinuation, I'll report your ass with a quickness and then block you.

I won't reply to, share, or otherwise entertain, any asks, comments, posts, reposts, or anything else you share in response to this or any follow-up post. You will win no fame and gain no ground here, so don't waste your time.

If you don't like my attitudes on this matter, you're welcome to unfollow and/or block me.

This is the first and last time I'll be addressing this matter in any form on this platform. Thank you for your time.

Jeffrey Hunter as Capt. Christopher Pike STAR TREK: THE CAGE

// Looking back on Hunter's performance as Pike, it's pleasantly surprising how much I see of him in Anson Mount when he portrays the character. We're seeing a younger version here, one pained and embittered by terrible losses on Rigel VII, fed up with the fears and burdens of putting so many lives at risk. I don't think what happened to him on Talos IV necessarily fixed his heart completely, but he still chose duty over fantasy and complacency. His dedication to Starfleet and his crew will always matter more.

christine wasn't one hundred percent sure he wasn't just making this up as he goes along. which is not bad advice. and certainly the sort she should expect from him, considering the stories, but it still makes her laugh, smile curling at the corner of her lips as she follows up to the transporter padd.

❛⠀⠀we'll give it the old college try,⠀ ❜⠀she says, pleased to be the one using an odd idiom for a change.⠀ ❛⠀⠀and if that doesn't work, well, i hear making plans is the first step to success.⠀ ❜⠀

with a cheeky wave to the transporter chief, she adjusts the strap of her gear on her shoulder, quieting down the doubts swirling in her mind with fake confidence. fake it will you make it. not so different from a philosophy paper. only difference is, the professor has a gun.

❛⠀⠀what could go wrong?⠀ ❜

Captain Pike nodded to the transporter chief, and mere seconds later, he and Nurse Chapel were planetside, placed a safe and discreet distance away from the city center.

Pike did a quick scan of their perimeter with his eyes and let out a quick, relieved sigh when he was sure no one saw their appearance. "Okay," he said softly as he and Chapel began to walk. "Remember: just like we belong here. We got this." I hope, Pike silently added.

STAR TREK: STRANGE NEW WORLDS 2.10. Hegemony

// These two...I just love 'em. I also love how Captain Pike cares so much about his crew. They're not just the best crew in Starfleet to him; they're his friends. He'd go to the ends of the universe and back for any single one of them. I don't doubt that captains like Kirk, Picard, Sisko, Janeway, Archer, Burnham, or Freeman would do the same, but I see, hear, and feel that bond so much more profoundly from Anson Mount's Captain Pike.

resisting the urge to pinch him to make sure he wasn't made of flour, and a walking fortune cookie, christine shakes her head, a smile cracking at the corner of her lips, amusement bleeding through the nerves. it was going to be alright. she'd starred in her high school production of beauty and the beast; pretending she was someone else was bound to be easier than not cracking up in the middle of the title song when her friend stumbled on beast's foot in the middle of the waltz sequence.

❛⠀⠀just go with the flow? that's your professional advice? ⠀ ❜⠀

Chris let out a chuckle. "Not sure how professional it is, but it works more often than it doesn't." "Bridge to landing party." Una Chin-Riley's strong, confident voice chimed in from the comms panel. "Go ahead, Number One." "We're in position and range. You're up. Be careful down there, both of you," Una said, relaxing her tone as concern over dear friends broke down the facade. "We will. Mind the store while we're gone." "So, ship-wide, multi-deck parties. Already on it." Captain Pike let out a soft laugh and shook his head. "Just keep the music down. Pike out." Pike turned to Nurse Chapel. "Time to go. Don't worry. It's going to be alright." With that, he grabbed some of the gear and stepped onto the transporter pad.
