"In any conversation with recently released prisoners from the West Bank, the conversation inevitably drifts to the horrific conditions that Israel has imposed on Palestinian prisoners. The deprivation of food and medicine, the routine beatings, the isolation of individual prisoners, the overcrowded cells, and the severed lines of communication with the outside world—all unfold in their stories. The rhythm of the conversations are fast, a need to speak and utter the drastic conditions, to make sense of the non-sensible and the horrific.

However, a heavy silence descends as some begin to speak of the sounds of their fellow prisoners from Gaza. The prison not only segregates by bars and walls but also divides by geography, by unseen yet palpably strict borders within its confines (Gazan there, West Bankers here). Those from Gaza are forced into degradation, made to bark, their screams of pain from being shackled and beaten piercing the thick air, compelled to sing Israel's national anthem, to shout "Am Yisrael Hai" in a mockery of their agony and identity. Sound becomes the solitary channel through which prisoners from diverse geographies perceive each other's existence, not through words exchanged after years of enforced separation between Gaza and the West Bank, but through the harrowing echoes of torture's heavy breaths.

The released prisoners from the West Bank descend into silence—a wounded, weighty, and shamed silence, burdened by the knowledge that their suffering, though severe, paled in comparison to that of their fellow prisoners from Gaza, leaving them traumatized by both their own experiences and the agony they could only hear. A trauma that is not traumatic enough.

We can scarcely fathom what Dr. Adnan Al-Bursh, a healer, a devoted doctor and surgeon—a man who steadfastly refused to abandon his patients—endured until his body could withstand no more. Alongside his fellow doctors in Gaza, he epitomized a profound dedication to his role and to his society, embodying the very essence of commitment in the face of unimaginable adversity, a doctor that we will remember through one sound only, the sound of his joy of saving another soul."

one of the most disgusting things i see pro israel types do is when people show pictures or videos comparing gaza a year ago to gaza now and they go oh so gaza wasn’t that bad before?? you admit it wasn’t apartheid?? it’s not an open air prison?? like just. using the incredible spirit of the people there to try to make it seem like israel wasn’t already oppressing palestinians in gaza. human beings managing to find joy and meaning in life even under oppressive conditions being cynically used to claim that those conditions don’t exist. it’s so fucking disgusting and inhuman and dishonest

Israeli tanks now taking Rafah border that's mean no one can leave Gaza

The Israeli warplanes are carrying out intense aerial bombardments in the vicinity of the Rafah crossing.

all aid has been stopped from entering Gaza.

Israel has done what we all predicted and warned about. Simple, pure evil. They pushed Palestinians by carpet bombing everywhere till they all had to go to the least bombed place (No, Rafah was never completely safe. They were bombed there, too, to a horrific degree), and then, after cramming what nears a two million civilians with about 600 thousand children, they are asking them to leave... to where?! Nowhere. They are just saying leave. So then, when they kill them all, they can say 'Oh, we warned them'

It was all predicted, and no one did a thing

Rafah is now the most densely populated place in the world, with a population of about 1.5 million and prehaps more in 64 km2. About 25 miles squere.

25 miles squere

A marathon is 26 miles straight. You can at least run through Rafah in length once and in width twice and pass the 1.5 million Palestinians. That's how crammed it is. With no where to run

I'm very tired of this "queer college students should stop supporting Palestine, they'd kill you there!" I watched a hijabi ask a trans man, "but what name do you want to go by?" A butch giving a woman their hoodie so that she could keep her hair covered after the cops took her scarf. Muslim girls making sure the lesbian couple got through the system together. Religious men making sure green haired protestors got out safe. A Palestinian girl with an ex-southern baptist fiance, who definitely isn't a practicing Muslim, whose parents were raising hell for her. I don't want to hear it. Solidarity forever, free Palestine.

Those who tell you your comrade is your enemy work for the real enemy. Do not let them divide you with xenophobia and lies.

it hurts my soul to know that israel waited till the met gala to send the order to evacuate rafah so that no one will talk about palestine and their suffering because just a bunch of rich zionists in ugly dresses would be trending.

A panel of UN experts has condemned violence against women and children perpetrated by the Israeli military.

“We are appalled that women are being targeted by Israel with such vicious, indiscriminate and disproportionate attacks, seemingly sparing no means to destroy their lives and deny them their fundamental human rights,” said an independent panel of experts appointed by the UN Human Rights Council.

The experts slammed reports of sexual assault and violence against women and girls, including against those detained by Israeli occupation forces.

They added that women and girls in Gaza have faced enforced disappearances.

They also condemned the “appalling” treatment of pregnant women as a result of the Israeli bombardment of hospitals.

They noted that Israeli forces had also destroyed Gaza’s largest fertility clinic, reported to have been storing 3,000 embryos.

The report was drafted by special rapporteurs, who are assigned by he UN Human Rights Council, but whose statements are not official UN positions.

“Target Israel and we will target you,” the senators tell Khan, adding that they will “sanction your employees and associates, and bar you and your families from the United States.”

Rather ominously, the letter concludes: “You have been warned.” In a statement to Zeteo, Democratic Sen. Chris Van Hollen of Maryland said, “It is fine to express opposition to a possible judicial action, but it is absolutely wrong to interfere in a judicial matter by threatening judicial officers, their family members and their employees with retribution. This thuggery is something befitting the mafia, not U.S. senators.”
While neither Israel nor the United States are members of the ICC, the Palestinian territories were admitted with the status of a member state in April 2015. Khan, a British lawyer, was appointed as the ICC’s chief prosecutor in February 2021, a week after the court had already decided, by majority, that its territorial jurisdiction extended to “Gaza and the West Bank.”
In the wake of the attacks of Oct. 7, 2023, Khan announced that the court had jurisdiction over any potential war crimes committed both by Hamas militants in Israel and by Israeli forces in Gaza. The ICC, per the Rome Statute of 2002, can charge individuals with war crimes, crimes against humanity, and genocide – and recent reports suggest Israeli officials increasingly believe that the ICC is preparing arrest warrants for Netanyahu and other senior cabinet and military officials.
On Friday, The Hague-based office of the chief prosecutor published an unprecedented statement on Twitter, calling for an end to threats of retaliation against the ICC and attempts to “impede” and “intimidate” its officials. The statement added that such threats could “constitute an offence against the administration of justice” under the Rome Statute.

Rapper Macklemore is releasing a track called “Hind’s Hall”, speaking out on the genocide of Palestinians, and the United States complacency in this ongoing violence. Macklemore has stated that once the track drops on streaming, all proceeds from streams will be going directly to UNRWAthe United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestinian Refugees in the Near East.

The new tracks namesake Hind’s Hall echoes the honours that Columbia University encampment protestors bestowed the Morningside Heights campus’ Hamilton Hall— in memory of Hind Rajab, the 6 year old Palestinian girl in Gaza who was shot by Israeli soldiers after being trapped inside a vehicle, with her dead family. She had begged to be rescued as tanks closed in on her.

Macklemore using his platform to vehemently speak out against genocide, the Israeli occupation and United States-led violence is what every single artist should be doing right now. The power of art should not be underestimated. Macklemore started out in the Hip-Hop scene within communist circles, namely working alongside Blue Scholars, and has never neglected his Leftism through out his career: the artist has spoken on issues regarding mental health, addiction, racial profiling and police violence, Capitalism, women’s rights, LGBTQ+ rights and toxicity of American culture.

“The Nakba never ended, the colonizer lied” Hind’s Hall, Macklemore, 2024
