If your personal character headcanons directly impact my character, I'd like to discuss them very thoroughly before you throw them into RP. Whatever you decide for your character is just fine -- until it impacts my character. Please stop assuming I'm okay with you changing my character's motivations or backstory to align with yours. Especially for conflict. Please keep in mind that your headcanons are not mine and I may not agree with you. If our headcanons aren't compatible, that's fine.Β We'll roleplay a crossover.

i wish i could get this plastered all over my blog

I kind ofΒ get it. In a very tired, resentful way. But I don’t think they realize that this is the boilerplate go-to plot. I have literally done it so many times that I know exactly how the thread will pan out without even writing a reply. I get a sullen/angry/hostile reply to a greeter and I know where this is going already. And it’s nowhere I want to go.Β

omg I have had this happen to me with other characters, and it’s super upsetting. I mean, I get it, but I want to have fun in the rp too.

It’s so tiring. And I’m not playing 616 Howard here. Stop it, people. Whatever you pulled from the comics to pad out your backstories? Very not applicable.Β

Fair warning: if you just want to use Howard as a punching bag for your character’s issues, thinking specifically of Marias and Tonys, I probably won’t want to RP with you. I’ve done those threads a million times and they are exhausting and never, ever rewarding. It’s hard to be enthused about a thread when your character can’t say or do anything right and is honestly just there to be torn down. Just. I ain’t here for that.

An eyebrow raised,Β β€œOld pals,” so Nick hadn’tΒ sent him. This was interesting, but it definitely lent to the idea Xander had about this guy–that he worked with people if he felt like it, but he wasn’t beholden to anyone specific. Catching the phone, he held it for a moment, tossed it back. He didn’t trust the guy, but he didn’t notΒ trust him enough to call Nick Fury and have to listen to him complain for fifteen minutes. His grin matched Edward’s,Β β€œSafe isn’t in my vocabulary.” Leaning forward, he kept his voice a little low,Β β€œSo nazi punching. I’m in.”

Howard just grinned and shrugged, tongue against his cheek, completely unrepentant.Β β€œIf you want to get technical, pal, Nick used to work for me.” Catching the phone, he tucked it away into his jacket pocket and nodded -- yeah, that’s what he thought.Β β€œI’m older than I look,” he admitted, not something he usually shared, but this was gambling: you had to show a few cards.Β β€œAnd the skills you have, the reallyΒ interesting ones, I’m in a similar boat.” Pulling out a manilla folder, Howard tossed it onto the table between them. β€œIt’s all in there. I don’t know how good your history teachers were, so long story short: HYDRA’s our target, they’reΒ Nazis, and I’m sick of all this cloak and dagger bullshit.”
