Something I've thought about since I saw the concept art for Sofia The First was that I would love to see the show in that 90s Disney 2D animation style, like in Hunchback of Notre Dame for example. The concept arts were made in the classic 2D style, to later be adapted to 3D, and I was lamenting about how much I wanted to see the cartoon in this animation format, most especially Cedric, who is my favorite and had very interesting arts.
At first they wanted to make him "uglier" (beauty is subjective), with an old appearance, more noticeable wrinkles and a missing tooth. In one of these arts, however (it's my favorite), it looks more like the final 3D design, but still a little similar to the concept and with an obviously very beautiful art style.
It makes me sad how we will never be able to see a 2D STF animation with this beautiful design.
Because of my hyperfocus on Sofia The First (and Disney princesses, or Disney in general, if you squint your eyes) I'm watching several Disney films that I've never seen before. Today I decided to watch Cinderella 2, it's a movie with three mini stories inside Cinderella's story, and the second story is when Jaq (the little mouse in the red outfit) wants to help Cinderella like he did before but he can't because now the castle is too big and she has employees for everything. So he asks the fairy godmother to turn him into a human.
And surprisingly, the design is a similar to Cedric's. Not so much the concept art, I'd say it looks more like the 3D version of Cedric we're already familiar with. I haven't finished watching it yet because I started to write the post (ehehehehe) but so far I think it's adorable. He has a more nervous personality because he's very insecure in that human body, He's the cutest! And honestly, he looks a lot like Cedric, he has the same face shape, long nose, eyebags and round scared eyes, big round ears and the concept art tooth. It's like that joke, "characters played by the same actor" and it's a bunch of characters that look alike
So if you're like me, who fell in love with STF's concept arts and cries to sleep every night because it was never made in 2D animation, Cinderella 2 is the best option. It gave me a warm feeling in my heart. 2D STF would be something like that, wouldn't it?
