I’m firmly in the “Buck should have a love interest that feels like a person” and “If Buck’s happy, I’m happy” camps

But don’t forget this all too important fact: it’s still too easy

Of course that’s apart from the whole identity-shifting-in-your-30s part. But the people that matter to Buck won’t give a damn that about his sexuality (we sadly can’t say the same for Eddie which is a whole other thing I could scream about for days)

But back to Buck’s latest match: it’s THE SAME PATTERN

Unless they come in with a twist of some sort, BuckTommy is following the same structure:

  • Someone flirts
  • Someone makes a move
  • They go on a date and it goes bad (4 out of 5 times to my memory)
  • They reconcile and keep up the relationship until ReasonsTM break them up

Now I would love to see Buck explore his first queer relationship and be happy (for once). I want that man to have the chance to shove his tongue down Tommy’s throat in peace. I would even love to see this explored well into Season 8 like Buck in a healthy relationship would be revolutionary

But don’t get it twisted. 911 has defined its view of love explicitly and continues to elaborate on those themes through its main couples.

For reference:

“When you’re at your worst and they’re at their worst and you have every reason to give up but you keep trying.” “Isn’t that what we all want in a partner? Someone who has your back?”

Love is HARD in the world of 911 - for everyone.

I’m not saying they couldn’t explore this and build up Buck and Tommy or any other love interest to the required level of soulmateism. But only one Buck pairing currently fits the bill.

Also look at all the other main couples on the show and then look at 911’s criminal record. They would NEVER pass up on the chance to create the most traumatizing scenarios to put their lovers in so they “come out in the other side stronger.”

First date Madney ends with one stabbed and one kidnapped. Let’s not even TALK about what they put Henren through. You don’t even have to look too far - the TSUNAMI EPISODES??? Bathena went through SO much if you really unpack it???

These guys eat angsty couple moments for breakfast - especially early days couples (the serious ones anyway)

Anyway the point of this post is: Buddie endgame

But they’ll have to suffer (a lot) to get there.

we should hype up bottom surgery more i think. both twitter transphobes and chronically online trans people really like to be disgusted at phalloplasty, vaginoplasty, ext. and i really think we should treat them as cool and sexy and neutral like top surgery scars or whatever

As of tomorrow I will be 49 weeks post bottom surgery. And lemme tell you...it's pretty great.

There was a level of constant dysphoria from having a dick that I didn't even know I had until it was gone.

Vaginoplasty is pretty amazing. I'm very, VERY happy about having gotten it.

Some things to keep in mind:

  • The first year can be rough at times, because it takes approximately 48-52 weeks to fully heal, but the further you get into that year, the easier it gets.
  • Healing time also depends on if you get the surgery with or without cavity. Be realistic going in and make sure to read all the literature your clinic sends you.

I say this because a lot of the negative shit around bottom surgery hinges on people NOT knowing about the healing time and using the shock value of not-yet-healed surgical wounds. Bottom surgery is FUCKING AMAZING, but yeah, it can be gross and painful at first.

I had my surgery done at GRS Montreal. The staff there are AMAZING. They were kind, patient, and helpful.

Here's some bottom surgery facts:

  1. Yeah, it'll be gross at first. The first 90 days is when all the surface-level healing happens. As with any major surgery, healing is gross. It gets a lot less gross once the surgical wounds heal, the swelling goes down, and the packed gauze in your clitoris comes out (it's there to maintain the shape while healing).
  2. There is scarring, but it fades. Rub silicon gel into it 3-4 times a day for several months once the wounds close. After a year the scarring is minimal, and it will keep fading. I don't even notice it anymore.
  3. Everything WORKS. Stuff feels good. Orgasms are AMAZING.
  4. It has absolutely made me feel more confident as a woman. It is INCREDIBLY gender affirming.

Dilation is a pain in the ass for the first 4-5 months. Not because it hurts, but because you have to do it so often. After that it becomes more like "here is an hour a day that I set aside for me time". At the end of the first year you will only have to do it once or twice a week, at which point it definitely becomes more like just setting aside a bit of time to get in touch with your womanhood, just to relax.

Dilation doesn't hurt (though it can be uncomfortable in the first month or so while the swelling comes down). Your new vagina is a part of your body and your body takes care of it. It is honestly pretty neat!

Bottom surgery is legitimately AMAZING. It has been practiced for almost 100 years. It is established medical practice. Do not let transphobes dissuade you from it!

Oh no, trans ppl definitely get hate for wanting or getting bottom surgery and it's not just from terfs

I've been in conversation with other trans people and start talking about how badly I want bottom surgery and they start fidgeting and rush to tell me how "you're beautiful just the way you are". It is NOT just terfs. Everyone has to battle our internalized transphobia, even trans people.

Fox: we can't let Buck and Eddie interact, the fans will read too much into it

ABC: they already do so why not give them something to read into

Fox: the show doesn't need promoting

ABC: put the cast in front of a camera and let them say whatever the fuck they want

Fox: Maddie and Eddie are only interesting when they're traumatised

ABC: wrong again! Look at these goofballs!

Fox: Buck is the straightest straight to ever straight

ABC: *maniac giggling* he just kissed a guyyyy

Fox: ...

ABC: fuck you!

We’re never beating the “disaster bi” accusations if you swing from running into the closet screaming “hot chicks” on one date and then invite the man to your sister’s wedding blowing off the closet doors to everyone you know, including your biological parents, who are terrible, for the second.

good luck sir.

Rejection sensitive dysphoria is wild. Someone will be like “hey just so you know the thing you did was a little bit loud/uncomfortable/insensitive but it’s ok I know you didn’t mean it” and my brain will instantly translate “you should be shot”

The fun other side of this too is when you are afraid of making other people feel that way so you just let shit go 90% of the time even when it’s reasonable and valid to make a comment/critique/etc

Screenshotting these tags for posterity

(Hen IS more responsible than the others but that’s like saying an 8 year old child is more responsible than a 5 year old- you still wouldn’t leave any of them alone without adult supervision)

once buck comes out and settles into a relationship with tommy i’m sure they’re inevitably going to hang out with eddie at some point and i’m lowkey curious about which one of them will feel like the third wheel because somehow all three of them fit the bill for that

Buck: if they aren't both looking at me at all times I'll set this house on fire

Eddie: confused pining noises

Tommy: I've never had a threesome but I'll be the meat in this sandwhich

Maddie only slightly hesitating about Buck's slip of a pronoun.

Eddie being shocked that Tommy is gay but apparently not at all shocked that Buck likes dudes.

Buck asking Tommy to be his date to the wedding. Which means his whole found family and actual family will know he's dating a guy. Does Buck realize HIS PARENTS ARE GONNA BE THERE????
