Fanfiction: Because apparently barging into the writers office of your favourite shows and telling them to get out the way while you un-fuck things for them is considered ‘rude’ and ‘breaking and entering’

But writing a spec (fanfic) script is not rude, it's applying for a job! :-D

Writer problems...

I have 30 pages of never released fanfic that I’m scared to post. Not because I think people won’t like it… But because I don’t think anyone will care/read it.

*Sigh*

Fuck them. Write it for yourself. Write it and put it out. Write it because YOU want to write it. Write it because you NEED to get your story out and fuck everyone who passes you up.

I published three damn books I can barely get more than three people to read outside of friends and family who feel obligated to because I look pathetic with my big fucking eyes. But it gives me a shit load of joy writing these stories and I found my three people. You will find those three people who love it. That makes its worth it.

WRITE IT.

It’s that damn God’s Children fanfic that I’ve been sitting on for years. Now that Claire is back on the show I may have to rework it, but I really want to post it. :( WHY CANT I BE BRAVE LIKE YOU??

YOU HAVE FOUR CHILDREN! YOU ARE 10 TIMES BRAVER THAN I AM!

Rework it. Have fun with it. Make aliens abduct them and probe EVERYONE then write it the way you want. Or keep it the same and call it an AU. You have the skill and the ideas. You can do this.

Remember…someone posted THIS to the public. If they can, then you should….because you have grammar skills and syntax knowledge.

I feel like there’s a math problem here:

If four kids = 10 x 3 novels, solve for one kid’s value in novels.

@patrickat, you can math. Math this?

Avatar
patrickat

Let k = kids and n = novels 4k = 10 x 3n 4k = 30n k = (30/4)n = 7.5n

One kid equals seven and a half novels.

Now if a face could launch a thousand ships and a picture is worth a thousand words, how many ships are in a selfie?

No, wait, no. There’s something wrong with this math, because I have FIVE kids AND I’ve written TWELVE novels so wait, that’s

5K = 10 x 12n

5K = 120n

k =  (120/5)n = 24n

I feel like we need parabolas or something exponential here

I WILL FUCKING POST MY FIC IF YOU ASSHATS WILL STOP DOING MATH!! … Wait… I think I suddenly see the trap I just walked into…

this is why the electoral college fucking sucks.

Avatar
kaayytiee

Without the electoral college, the determining factor of the elections would be California, Chicago and New York just because they have more people concentrated in one area. Our system is the best of the best and the people spoke. I’m hurt as well as most of America but the best thing we can do is keep an open mind, accept, and move on.

So what? Why does it matter if the majority of votes come from one area? If most of the people in the country want one person to be president, then that person should be president. Why should it matter where they’re from?

And that’s not even the reason the college was made in the first place. It was made for 2 reasons. 1. The founding fathers didn’t trust the citizens. They thought the citizens were too uneducated to make a good choice. And 2. It’s easier to count the votes of a small group of people all in one place rather than millions across the country when there’s no cars or internet.

In today’s age, neither of those reasons are valid anymore. There is no good reason for the electoral college to exist. If the majority of people want someone as president, that person should be president.

Here is why the electoral college sucks:

Without the electoral college, every single vote would count exactly the same.  No vote anywhere in the country would be worth more than any other vote.  Now you may ask, but Raymond, isn’t it like this already?

NO.  IT FUCKING IS NOT.

Take Wyoming for example.  Wyoming has a population of 584,000 people.  They also have 3 electoral college votes. This means that each 194,667 votes is worth one electoral college vote in Wyoming.  Now let’s look at California.  California has a population of 38.8 million people and 55 electoral college votes.  This means that it takes 705,455 votes for each electoral college vote.

A VOTE IN WYOMING IS WORTH 3.5X MORE THAN A VOTE IN CALIFORNIA.

It literally takes 3.5 times more votes to get 1 electoral vote in California than it does in Wyoming.  How tf is that fair?

Don’t come in here and tell me how it’s the best system and without it the only determining factor would be certain cities.  How does that even make sense?  Without it, a vote in New York City is worth the exact same amount as a vote in any other city, or town, regardless of population.  I personally would like my vote to count for exactly the same as anyone else.  My vote shouldn’t count as less because I live in a more densely populated city.

What a good explanation! ^

Fun fact: the [outdated and deeply flawed] electoral college system is also the reason George Bush became president.

Actually, based on Dubyah's reelection and now Trump's win, I'd have to say the first is DEFINITELY still valid and the second has an "eh" factor.

People I know who are usually logical and intelligent defended Trump vehemently. Not a single one could accurately explain his policies or how he was a successful businessman (beyond he has money, which he had BEFORE starting businesses). But, dammit, Hillary was their super villain and there was no changing their mind!

Do I think the electoral college should go? Yes. Only so that when the next mistake happens, we have no skirts to hide behind and no one to blame but ourselves.

Though I'm sure even then the disgruntled will find a way to finger point anyway.

People will tell you that emotional abuse isn’t real and what you’re dealing with isn’t that big a deal and you’re just exaggerating, but let me tell you something.

If you’ve ever been wary of everyone you know, even people you trust, because you’re expecting them to get angry with you over literally anything, make fun of you, or start making threats, something’s wrong.

If you’ve ever had to plan things in anticipation of a potential tantrum that you fear will be taken out on you, something’s wrong.

If you succumb to someone’s demands because you’re never sure if their threats are empty or legit and you just want to play it on the safe side, something’s wrong.

If you find yourself jumping at smaller noises in anticipation that they’re a warning sign for a tantrum, something’s wrong.

If you hide things - especially things that make you happy - because you’re so afraid that they’ll make fun of you for liking them, scold you for liking something they don’t, take them away, destroy them, or that they’ll defile them and ruin that love you have for them, something’s wrong.

If you find yourself being silent in the face of mild disagreements or thinly-veiled insults, rather than standing up for yourself because you just don’t want to start an argument and make things worse, something’s wrong.

If that very lack of standing up for yourself eventually leads to you never offering your opinion in any sort of discussion out of fear of ridicule or being scolded because that’s what you’re so used to, something’s wrong.

If you end up spending a lot of your time in your room keeping to yourself and keeping any trip outside of your room to an absolute minimum because you don’t want to risk putting one toe out of line and setting off a tantrum, yet you’re also aware that hiding out will also cause an issue and you’re probably just minimizing the risk instead of erasing it entirely, something’s wrong.

If you ever habitually glance outside the window to keep watch for your supposed abuser’s car to return from their work, errand or trip, and then heading to your room or other hiding place to keep out of their way, erasing any obvious signs that you’ve been out and about in the rest of your living space, something’s wrong.

If one of your greatest fantasies involves not a dream career or winning the lottery but instead an escape plan succeeding, something’s wrong.

If you could basically summarize your life as living in constant, subtle fear, Something. Is. Wrong.

Emotional abuse is very, very real, and it has lasting consequences that can affect people’s relationships, their jobs, and their lives all-around.

Don’t you dare tell me it isn’t real.
