just because someone doesn’t express affection in the same way u do doesn’t mean there’s anything wrong with them. i’m sick of seeing characters who are touch averse be “cured” by the end of the story. and i’m especially sick of it happening because another character keeps forcing physical touch on them when they’re clearly uncomfortable. it’s not cute. and it’s extra not cute because it happens in real life, and seeing it in a show where it’s not condemned will make people think it’s ok. kids being “cured” of their touch aversion by their parents don’t need to be gaslit to believe that the pain that they’re feeling isn’t important. that they’re just being difficult. touch aversion is not an ailment. it does not need to be cured.

all i want to do is write that one fic that takes people’s breath away and kinda lingers in the back of their minds. i want to write something that makes people want to make art and play with my versions of characters or in the universe i created. i want to be able to create worlds that feel real enough to walk into and write lines that stick with people until they forget where exactly they heard it because it lives in their bones now.

Movie director: what if instead of casting 20-30 year olds to play teenagers in movies, causing actual teens to feel inadequate in their bodies because they don’t look at all like a fully grown adult with toned abs or big boobs, we cast actual teenagers?

Hollywood: like. Having underage teenagers? Actual fifteen-sixteen year olds to play fifteen-sixteen year olds?

Director: yeah?

Hollywood: But... filming underage people emulating sex is illegal or something. We wouldn’t be able to make the near-explicit sex scenes.

Director: well um. Maybe we could make a teen movie without near-explicit sex scenes? Maybe one about coming of age experiences such as first parties, first kisses, connecting with a best friend, doing stupid shit just because a friend bet you couldn’t... y’know, teenage stuff.

By all means I’m not saying that having sex while teen is bad/wrong/immoral. High school couples tend to have curiosity about that stuff and might engage in more intimate acts, and honestly as long as they have proper sex ed, are careful about protection, have mutual consent, that’s fine.

My issue is about Hollywood making it seem like Every Teenager Is Having Sex because it makes teens who haven’t feel inadequate/wrong even if they’re not interested in that stuff yet/ever.

My issue is about teens being so eager for romantic relationships and sex that they don’t recognize predators and get involved into dangerous situations/abusive relationships, some of those with manipulative, coercive adults.

My issue is that almost all movies for teens are focused on the elusive “true romantic love”, a concept none of them know and yet will be forced to obsess over. Meanwhile, very few of them are about friendships, suffering with bad grades, mental illness, dumb funny trends etc, which are things they could actually relate to.
