I think this is the best version of this meme
I was going to spend a chill evening writing a lighthearted chapter, but I got distracted, and now I'm brainstorming an entire backstory for a new villain character.
Few things as satisfying as landing on the name for a new character, but especially for an antagonist.
I was playing around with name ideas and just had that wonderful moment when one hits the right vibe, and I thought "ah, there you are. Welcome to the thunderdome, asshole."
I was going to spend a chill evening writing a lighthearted chapter, but I got distracted, and now I'm brainstorming an entire backstory for a new villain character.
Shapeshifting creatures are the scariest creatures in every scenario. A few days ago I saw a short film clip of a preteen girl being surprised that her "mom" was home early. And days later, I'm still so unsettled.
Like, the thing looked like her mom, sounded like her mom, but was so very clearly not her mom. And this girl had only vibes to go off of...until her mother called her on the phone while "mom" was in the room.
And like...the most unnerving thing about it from a movie-watching perspective is that on the screen, it's just two average-looking people standing in an average-looking kitchen. There are no visual or audio red flags. It is vibes-only horror, and then if you're that girl, and you've realized that isn't your mom, and maybe the thing realizes that you've realized that it isn't your mom...Ooh that stalemate. That paralysis of maintaining the ruse out of survival.
Thanks. I hate it.
So I reread ch 64 of camaraderie and some new questions have sprouted in my head concerning the 03’s Android prejudice: how far does their hate for androids actually go? And by this I mean like did any of them skimp out on Android first aid training like Gavin did at first? Would they even be willing to use it or would the just do the bare minimum for an Android who needed it? Or imagine a child Android gets lost or something and goes to their precinct for help: would they just brush off the kid back into the streets or begrudgingly take them in? I love how you’ve made all the precincts so far, especially this one; the 03 is so fun to hate😂
This ask has been sitting in my inbox for an unforgivably long time (*cough*two years*cough*I’m so sorry*cough*), because I couldn’t decide if I wanted to answer it out straight or use it as a prompt. Since the 03’s actions were kind of central to the ending of Project Dawn, I feel like that answers the essence of your questions, but I also wanted to go ahead and answer it officially.
The thing about the 03 is that they aren’t rotten to the core on an individual level. I’d say about half of them definitely are, then another percentage of them are either easily pulled into the others’ toxicity or are too cowardly to stand up and do anything about it. The remaining few do not buy into the majority’s awfulness, and they end up either getting fired or leaving on their own terms (like Clary did).
We see in Project Dawn how far their hatred of androids will go. I imagine the captain didn’t even bother to organize any android first aid training for his squad, but the commissioner required it, so they all at least attended it in a lackluster fashion. They would only make any attempt to use it in the field if someone was watching them, or if one of the few good ones was there and forced them to help.
It's common knowledge among androids at this point to avoid the 03 precinct. If they need assistance while in 03 jurisdiction, they try to make it into another jurisdiction first. The 07 is well known for its pro-android support, but the 05 and the 01 have really positive reputations too.
If an android child wound up at the 03 needing help, I imagine an uncomfortable exchange where they initially mistake the child for human, and so they immediately take the kid in, comfort them, make sure they’re not injured, ask them questions to help find their grownups. At some point they’d realize that this child was an android, and they would have a mixed reaction. Some would turn cold immediately, disgusted with themselves or blaming the child for “tricking them.” Some would be disturbed but by that point would have grown genuine sympathy for the child and would awkwardly pawn them off on another precinct or service that could help them, rather than shoving them back out on the streets. Again, the few good ones would insist on taking care of the child properly and making sure they were returned to their legal guardians.
The 03 really is just the worst. Fortunately they are in the process of getting their butts kicked into compliance and overhauled in the current fic Brotherhood.
Okay, so… Distractions. OK!
Tell me (us!) all about Apollo’s garden. Is it on his apartment balcony in buckets with tomato cages, or does he have an allotment somewhere with raised beds? Is he all about weeding in the dirt, or has he gone full-on hydroponic?
Does he just grow veggies and fruits, or is he planting some pollinator treats? Does he have somewhere he sits to watch bees and butterflies floating around, or is he pretty much doing what needs doing and then hurrying off to find homes for an inordinately large yield of zucchini?
Has a small, furry neighbor ever enjoyed the bounty on the sneak-side? Has Apollo ever come across a ratsnake in a predicament?
(May these distract well!)
Bless you, friend! I could desperately use from distractions from life right now, and I’ve been saving this ask for a day like this.
Apollo’s garden is focused on vegetables. He enjoys the feeling of the dirt and the water and the living greens on his hands and fingers. His favorite are root vegetables like carrots and radishes, seeing the color of them when he pulls them from the soil. He loves watching tomatoes and peppers change colors on the vine as they ripen.
He shares a greenhouse with the retired man named James who first got him involved with gardening, on the man’s property just outside the city. He does have a few small potted veggies at his own apartment that he tends to. For the most part, he finds peace in tending to his side of the greenhouse for however long it takes, and then he moves on. However, if James is also there, he will gently convince Apollo to slow down, sit down, and just exist among the plants for a while. Watch some bees and butterflies.
The shared garden space has its share of rabbits and deer that try to sneak a bite. Apollo has trained them over time to only nibble on a designated section of the garden that he grows just for them. All the other produce he either sneaks into the DPD’s break room for the squad to take for free, or he donates it to local food banks.
He thinks he’s very sneaky at the DPD and that no one knows where the mystery vegetables are coming from.
Everybody knows it’s him, but they’re worried that if they call him out, he’ll stop bringing in free food. So they keep their mouths shut and enjoy the bountiful tomatoes, peppers, and carrots that are always present in the station.
No because it IS hot

Can someone translate what she said
“Oh really? YOU’RE going to teach me Russian? Well you better bring the vodka and caviar, *sweetheart*.” -Translation from @cripplepunk-sylveon
I love the way people’s voice changes when they switch languages.
This a legit thing. I speak Japanese at a noticeably higher pitch than I do English. Different intonation too.
Spanish I speak at the same pitch more or less but my tone and rhythm are different.
A wild @rhinozilla appears! (Also I thought you would appreciate this!)
Hey! I’ve been reading Detroit 07 this year and I’m currently in my 3 re-read of the year. So, I have a prompt
After Connor rejoins the DPD, but before going on field, he starts training one on one fight cause he doesn’t want to be held hostage again, so he kinda of goes overboard lol. Connor has the fancy fight mode systems but he can always be better through Machine Learning, right? Like a human, practice makes perfect.
Summarizing: Connor reaching Black Widow levels of fighting skills.
Maybe he can use Psalm to practice
Hi there! This is a fantastic prompt. I have just posted it as part of chapter 55 of Brotherhood. I hope you like it. Thank you for reading and re-reading! :)

Unnecessarily Complex Fit Inktober Day 3 is for Hope!Hob who made the mistake of letting his ridiculous stranger pick his Hope threads rip (look its unnecessarily complex for Hob, and also me, because I am a tired worm)
