I reblogged this last month, tagged it, and said “might as well see if it works.” I used this video as a reference to find all the forms that i needed (which is A LOT, especially if you’re a dependent) and sent them through the mail, not really allowing myself to hope.

[VIDEO DESCRIPTION AND TRANSCRIPT:

A tweet from Twitter user Darien (@/DareBear1226) that reads "This could literally save a life. Save a family. My god" with the following video attached.

A TikTok user in blue lighting: "What's a piece of information that you learned that feels illegal to know?"

(The on-screen captions say the same thing)

TikTok user @/dollarfor (speaking to the camera): "Most hospitals in America are non-profits which means they have to have financial assistance or charity care policies."

(On-Screen captions: "Most hospitals in America are non-profits. That means they must have a Charity Care Policy.")

dollarfor: "This is going to sound weird, but what that means is that if, uh, you make under a certain amount of money, the hospital legally has to forgive your medical bills. Let me show you how this works."

(On-Screen captions: "If you make under a certain amount of money the hospital will legally have to forgive your medical bills.")

dollarfor (while typing "legacy health financial assistance" into Google search and clicking the top result): "Type in the hospital name with 'financial assistance' after it. Should be the top link, let's check."

(On-Screen Captions: "Type in the hospital name + financial assistance.")

dollarfor (while scrolling down the Legacy Health Financial Assistance webpage and clicking on the Financial Assistance Policy link): "What you wanna do is look for financial assistance applications and policies, let's check the policy."

dollarfor (while scrolling down the policy document, then highlighting the sliding scale information): "From here what you're looking for is a sliding scale that- is right here. (quoting document) '0-300% of the federal poverty guidelines' (end quote), they will forgive 100% of your medical bills."

(On-Screen Captions: "Go to the site and look for their policy.")

dollarfor (while displaying a chart showing 2020 Federal Poverty Levels): "So you can see here that 300% of the federal poverty guidelines is 37,470 so if you make under that amount, uh, the hospital will legally forgive your medical bills, and if you're a larger household you can check it out from here."

(On-Screen Captions: "Gross Annual Income.")

dollarfor (speaking to the camera): "If you wanna test it out, I run a non-profit that does this so, uh, DM me and I will actually do it for you, to see if we can crush. those. medical bills."

(On-Screen Captions: "I crush hospital bills. TEST ME.")

VIDEO DESCRIPTION AND TRANSCRIPT ENDS]

Added a description/transcript since I couldn't find one for this post! (Please let me know if there's any way this description could be improved, it's my first time writing one and I want any descriptions I write to be as accessible as possible!)

I also went and checked out the dollarfor TikTok account, and according to their latest video, the popularity of the video in this post means that they've now received way more claims than they currently have staff to handle. They are looking for more monthly donations so they can hire more staff to help manage all the claims.

Here is the link to the Dollar For Website if you would like to make a donation or submit a claim.

And here is the dollarfor TikTok account if you would like to learn more about what they do and what you can do to help.

I don't live in the US, but I hope this information will be useful to all of you who do!

"Henry's too shocked to respond, mouth falling open slackly in a way that's more surprise than invitation, and for a horrified moment Alex thinks he calculated all wrong, but then Henry's kissing him back, and it's everything."

[…] When a person fails to begin a project that they care about, it’s typically due to either a) anxiety about their attempts not being “good enough” or b) confusion about what the first steps of the task are. Not laziness. In fact, procrastination is more likely when the task is meaningful and the individual cares about doing it well.

I’ve been yelling this for years

Hi yall, author of the piece here. Medium instituted a pay wall so here is a link to access it for free:

There is a sort of constant battle between the two of them to the degree that they are fighting, but they are taking care of one another. When the sugar goes on the cheek of Patrick, Art takes it off with his hand in a very nice gesture of kindness -- and very intimate, I would say. But at the same time, they are really tense. And I think it’s about being jealous of one another, but at the same time wanting one another.
