Summary:

Levi glanced sharply at him. “You skipped breakfast for work today yet again, didn’t you?” 

Erwin looked sheepish. “I wasn’t going to, but I had an urgent request from the Premier himself.” 

Hange suddenly seemed interested in the view outside. 

“Oi, Four-Eyes, don’t tell me that you too-” 

“Oh look, we have arrived!” they yelled, drowning the rest of Levi’s words as they pointed towards a large iron gate that stood a few meters away. The carriage's door was flung open before it came to a complete halt, and Hange dragged a grateful Erwin outside, away from Levi’s reproachful glare. Sighing, Levi stepped out of the carriage, stretching his aching bones as he got down. 

“About time,” he grumbled, his eyes tracing the impressive view that lay beyond the iron gate of the Industrial City.

During the winter holidays, Erwin and Levi are dragged along by Hange to pay a visit to the Industrial City in Wall Rose. As they explore the city together, Levi accidentally unearths the mysteries surrounding Hange’s elusive childhood.

And it turns out Erwin has known many of them all along.

Hange appreciation/analysis

Ohhh I’ve been waiting for someone to ask about my theories. We’ll see how long I can go before I get bored of typing but ughhh OKOK so

I’ve adored Hange since I was in middle school (about 6-7 years?) ever since they were introduced in the show. I love how lighthearted they appear and at the time I really enjoyed all the goofy shenanigans people would headcanon for them. Obviously that’s like, the baseline what’s on the surface analysis of their character but I’ve just always loved the “crazy sleep deprived scientist who’s too curious for their own good” trope. It provides some MUCH needed comedic relief for the show and in the fandom, but also they’re really unique among the rest of the vets due to their more positive way of thinking, even if it’s fake most of the time. That being said as I’ve gotten older I’ve gotten more into the character analysis side of things in everything I watch, and it’s made me appreciate Hange a lot more past the fandom based uwu scientist view we often see them under. They have a lot of hate and anger in their heart, towards the Titans and towards humanity as a whole in some ways. I kind of like seeing their anger issues kick in, because they’re a very emotional driven character who’s often placed in situations where they have to keep everything in for one reason or another and it’s oddly satisfying to me when they just go nuts and let that all out. Knowing that they’re such an emotional person makes them all the more strong to me as well. Sometimes their anger is hot and misguided, sure. Like in the journal OVA when they argue with Erwin, it’s mainly emotionally driven anger y’know? Or when they get pissed and kick the table in s3. But what gets me is the cold side of their emotions. The calculation and the rationalization they go to. Their speech to Oulo in the OVA about how to defeat an unbeatable enemy you have to watch them. Observe them. Learn every little part of their routine and exploit what you can. That sort of anger, the intensity is my favourite. Because it serves as a reminder that they’re not just a quirky scientist doing this just coz. They’re smart and lethal

Science… giving Hange a science show… couldn’t be a better idea

Fic: Saving Private Zoë (M)

[3337 words, rated M, manga spoilers, almost post canon, canon divergent]. ETA: Now on AOT!

Her friends saw her disappear in a ball of fire, but that was just her cape! Late but still in time for the Hange Birthday Bash, here is my take on what actually happened to Hange after she dedicated her heart for the final time.

I spewed this in a bit more than 2 days, only 1 round of edit past 1 a.m., so sorry for any typos.

It broke her heart to break his heart like that. The sheer devastation on Levi’s face as she had said her farewell had shaken her more than the suicidal task she was about to tackle. Taking a deep breath in order to fight back tears, former Commander Hange Zoë shot her VMG and faced the wall of colossal titans relentlessly advancing towards the port of Odiha.

Adrenaline kicked in and the grief turned to exhilaration as she soared over the massive monsters.

“Titans really are wonderful!” she thought aloud right before landing the fatal blow on one. There wasn’t much to do in terms of planning. The Rumbling was a brute force attack, and so it required an equal response, even if the forces at play were so ridiculously unbalanced. She could only jump as she went and try to cut as many napes as she could.

Misc. day!

I chose to go with spiderman! Hange because I rematches into the spiderverse recently and brain worms man. So here’s some stuff to go with the doodle!

They wouldn’t be able to wear their goggles/glasses to fight because villains can easily take them off and it gets difficult to see through them during the fight. So they rely on their spider sense to tell them where and when something is about to attack or where they need to be. Hange is very much brains compared to brawn; obviously they have the strength to challenge any good man, and after the spider bit them the super strength was enough to leave them as a very formidable opponent. But their MIND? Truly their greatest weapon. If they turned evil nobody in the city would be able to stop them. New web formulas and gadgets keep them ahead of any new and upcoming villains in the city, and due to their recent biodegradable web shooters that decompose completely on their own they have the city on their side (even more then before) as the costs of cleaning stray webs went down.

They’d work as a scientist in their spare time- possibly at alchemex to sabotage a certain octopus milf & gain intel on any of fisks plans. When they’re not crime fighting or working (which is not often) they’re binging the shittiest comedy movies they can find online with their grumpy boyfriend who also may or may not have a secret identity of his own. The punchlines from whatever movie of the week caught their attention WILL make it into whatever witty banter they share with the villains they’re fighting.

Hange Week Day 5. Hange Appreciation.

I don’t really think I need to show you all the reasons why Hange is a great character. Everyone has already said it before me so I just might say things that have been said plenty of times before.

Compassionate, passionate, mischievous, cool, handsome, selfless, curious, brave, loyal, respectful, genuine, forgiving, frightening, mad, bubbly, funny, serious, dedicated.

These are some of the qualities that come to my mind when I think of them, no wonder Erwin chose them as successor in commanding the SC. He recognised their quality not only in leadership but also as a human being.
