For Writers:

Reblog if it’s okay for your followers to leave you an ask telling you what the one thing is they remember you for as a writer.  Is it a scene or a detail or a specific line? Is it something like style or characterization?  Is it that one weird kink they never thought they’d be into, but oh my god wow self-discovery time?

Something to repeat to yourself in the shower:

My stories are not for everyone.

My stories will bore some readers. Some readers will hate them. Some won’t understand, won’t connect the dots, won’t relate to the characters. Some won’t because they can’t, some won’t because they don’t want to, but most won’t simple because my stories just aren’t for them.

My stories aren’t for everyone.

My stories are for me.

And they’re for the readers who will love them. They’re for the reader who have already loved them. For the readers who will see what I see in them and feel the characters and the world the way I do. They’re for the readers who wanted these stories before they even knew they existed. They’re for the readers they’ll make smile, the readers they’ll stick with, and the readers they’ll save.

And just because my stories aren’t for everyone doesn’t make them worth any less to the people they are for.

Not everyone likes butterflies. Not everyone likes spiders. But the people who love those creatures more than anything else would lose a part of themselves if they didn’t exist.

So no, my stories are not for everyone. But that doesn’t matter.

Because they’re for someone, and to that someone, they’re irreplaceable.

Understanding - Enjolras Oneshot

Character: Enjolras

Fandom: Les Mis

Gender: Female

Info: The reader has just recently become part of the revolution. Works in the ABC Cafe. They do not know each other previous to this meeting.

Warnings: Mentions of escorts. Abandoned by family. Gender injustice.

Summary: The Les Amis rip into the upper-class women who do nothing for the cause and in their defence, you feel the need to add your perspective.

Requested by: Anon.

"It is not fair! They clothe their children in the finest drapes and shove the most expensive food down their throats, yet pay no attention to the children dirty and starving to death in the street. They allow their husbands to step all over our people for the comfort of their homes."

"They might do something if they could afford to." The cheers of agreement silenced when you shouted this from the back of the ABC Cafe.

As if you were Moses, the crowd parted and you were instantly met with icy blue eyes. Your heart pounded, hating your spontaneous burst, knowing full well the confrontation that would appear. And you knew he wouldn't let.

"Excuse me? They are in the highest position in society and you think they can't afford to help?!" He asked, sauntering towards you as the men around him cheered.

"As a male, you would never understand. Behind those doors, women are talked down to by their husbands, treated like dirt, abused, hit. To try and contradict their husbands they would lose their livelihood and the fraction of respect they get anyway."

"How dare they lose their nice dresses and riches, boo-hoo." He responded and the men murmured in agreement. You knew you were fighting a losing side.

"If a man is denied by his family he is sent away with money to be a scholar or to be remarried. The man does not suffer, he can happily provide work with the education he received.

If a woman is kicked out she is shunned by her family, not allowed to see her children, has all her riches and possessions stripped of her and without any proper education ends up on the street and into a life of, yet again, pleasing men. You students pretend, but you don't really know of the harshness of the streets you try to defend. The scraps, the dirt, the abuse. Men may get by on labour, but women... They end up as prostitutes, like I almost did until I was allowed to work here." You told him and saw his face changed. The rest of the Les Amis shifted in their seats as you left his gaze unchallenging.

"The families I still see commend me for my risk, but say they could never imagine taking it. Do not blame them for not supporting the cause when they are hardly given a choice."

"You used to be a part of them?" He asked, the room hanging onto your every word.

"Yes. Apparently, I couldn't keep my big mouth shut. Spent too much buying bread for the children in our streets." You said softly as he held out his hand. You shook it as he smiled softly at you.

"I could never picture you as a bourgeoise. The ruggedness suits you." He quipped as you raised your eyebrows.

"I suppose our God has plans for me." You replied crossing your arm as he nodded at you.

"Welcome to the Les Amis."

Operas - Enjolras Oneshot

Character: Enjolras

Fandom: Les Mis

Gender: Female

Info: Reader is acting and dressing as a boy in order to be able to avoid the harshness and possible dangers of society. Adamant she will join in during the revolution and the barricade.

Warnings: Slight angst but also some fluff.

Summary: Joking around with the Les Amis is one of your favourite pastimes, but with the barricade looming overhead, your partner can’t help but try to change your mind.

Requested by: @asometimestroubledmind - much love to you dear!

"Give me back the hat!"

Enjolras walked around the corner to find the Les Amis laughing as Grantaire held it above your head. Your hair was swaying, contrasting the trousers and waistcoat you wore.

"I want to go home, let me have it!" You said, still failing to jump high enough until Gavroche kicked him in the leg and grabbed it for you, running around and offering it to you.

"Mademoiselle." He said, bowing slightly.

"Why thank you Monsieur."

"Careful, Enjolras will have your head." Marius teased.

"Don't worry, I won't let him." You said, placing an arm around his shoulders.

"Are you insinuating you love him more than me?" He said, as every other head snapped to him leaning on the wall of the ABC Cafe.

"I'm not insinuating it - I'm stating it." You said as the others 'ooo'ed.

Striding towards you, you pushed away Gavroche, shouting a mocking:

"Run my love, run!"

"It's almost like an opera." Foli mused as Enjolras placed his arm around your waist.

"Boys, take notice of this rarity. He's smiling." Rolling his eyes, Enjolras ignore the boys and turned back to you.

"I'll walk you home."

Waving goodbye to the boys and putting your hair up into your cap you and Enjolras walked as close together as you could without looking romantically invested.

"They are happy. It is rare there are moments they are not caught up in the revolution."

"But you do realise that is due to you my love?" He stated as you looked ahead of you.

"How long do you think before General LaMarque dies?" You asked and the question hung heavy in the air as the elephant in the room was acknowledged.

"A week at the most."

"And then the barricade appears." You noted as he looked down at you.

"And I suppose I have no hope of convincing you to stay away?"

"You know me all too well." You said, nodding at a passing couple as you continued through the streets of Paris.

"You know you will not be safe there?"

"I will be safer with you. The Les Amis, we will be fine. I am not going to let you go into this revolution by yourselves."

"But will you leave us?" You both stopped outside your flat as you turned and looked at him in the face, eyes brimming with tears at the thought of you, bloody, with tears as inevitably death reached you.

"If you knew we would not survive, would you run from the barricade? Swear that to me?" He asked as your mouth opened, stuttering.

"I-I know I can't. I don't think I'd survive long without you anyway." You admitted looking to the ground.

"The whole idea of this is to make a point - if all of us ran like cowards, what would change? What would history think?"

"You will be there to tell our story from our side."

"The people will tell our story from our side." You told him, turning to go up to your flat and hearing his footsteps following behind you.

"Y/N-"

"You're asking me to live without everything I know? Without everyone I love, everything that keeps me safe?!" You said as you entered, a mattress in the corner, small fireplace, stove, clothes and some pots and pans being your only possessions - it was shabby, but home. Comfy, just how you liked. Lighting a candle, you saw him hunching his shoulders, knowing this argument would end just like the others.

"You say you're for equality. You say it's for a reason. But I'm not allowed to stick it out at the barricade, abandoning my friends, my family, my love, proving that we're under their control and making revolutionaries look like cowards?"

He knew he'd lost, and end up looking like a hypocrite. Your hair came down and Enjolras watched the long length of bandage come off your chest from underneath your shirt as you wound it back up and placed it by your bedside.

"Are you planning on staying the night?" You asked softly as Enjolras' eyes met yours again.

"I can't. Me and Marius need to make plans for the rally tomorrow. It's the busiest market day." You nodded and grabbed the shawl off the chair, wrapping yourself in it slightly as you went to stand in front of him.

"I love you. You know that don't you?"

"Until the end of my being." He confirmed and wrapped his arms around the small of your back, your noses touching as you just stood in each other's presence for the moment.

You could hear drunken cheers from a bar outside, the fire crackled and all you smelt was smog and the musky scent that came from your partner. The state of stale ale lingered slightly in your mouth and you could feel his breath on your lips.

He kissed you slowly and softly, like you were breakable. Like he was afraid to scare you, that you'd run off like a deer after hearing footsteps.

"This is truly an opera - now we just have to wait for the final act."

Subtle - R.R-A Oneshot

Character: Reyna Ramirez-Arellano

Fandom: Percy Jackson and the Gods of Olympus

Era: Heroes of Olympus

Gender: Female

Info: Reader has no specific godly parent but is a part of Camp Jupiter

Warnings: Reference to sex, kissing, implied smut.

Summary: You’ve been away for months and Reyna realises she’s missed you more than she can think. But your return calls for a celebration.

Requested by: @zhankfrang - lots of love!

Reyna sat sorting through camp files, her dogs nudging her leg every once in a while as she sighed. She hated when you got called out on quests because the time period is literally random. You can't assume how long you'll be.

You and her had been together for probably about a year at this point. You didn't feel you were special, but she saw something in you she just couldn't deny. The first few months were spent with embarrassed glances and gentle touches until you worked together as gracefully as wind and trees, sometimes finding a ferocity you never knew your relationship held.

Reyna thought about the last night she'd seen you, wanting to commit you to memory, your scent, your soft hair, smooth skin, how it curved and moved and responded to her. Sucking, kissing all over - Reyna's first experience where it wasn't a desperate need for satisfaction or a release. It was making love. It was showing you what you meant to her.

But that was 4 months ago at this point, and everyday not hearing from you or anyone else felt like you were slowly slipping away from her. But no one understood her struggle because you'd kept it secret. Reyna knew people would think she'd favour you and you knew people would use it as a piece of gossip. You wanted to be the ones to control how people found out. But despite this, everyone could see Reyna was on edge.

There were some things she swore to do when you got back, cuddle up with Netflix and the dogs at your feet, eating a load of junk food while she played with your hair.

When. She thought glumly.

More like if.

It occurred a couple of days after, when she heard commotion outside during free time. Looking out her window she saw 3 people, obviously tired, dragging their feet and her heart leaped.

Not even bothering to grab her centurion robe, just the bright purple hoodie she ran out into the field like she was in the pursuit of a beast.

She reached the crowd and managed to glide past a few people before she saw you hug a couple of others, a tired smile on your face.

Then your eyes met hers and she saw your shoulders fall, a sigh of relief, lighting up behind the tired eyes and your smile getting wider. And she'd had enough of hiding.

She grabbed your waist and kissed you fiercely as you heard some gasps and comments around you. Most notably an Ares kid going "Are all girls like this?" To which the daughter of Venus answer "That's her girlfriend you idiot."

You pulled back with a wide smile and looked at her while squeezing her waist.

"So I'm guessing you didn't miss me then?" Laughing, she elbowed your arm slightly.

"Like hell."

-

Reyna and you didn't see much of each other until that night. She was arranging celebrations of your success and you were greeting others, giving quest reports and finally showering.

She found you watching on with a red cup, leaning against one of the forts as she made her way over to you. Spotting her you smiled lazily, opening your as she slotted herself into them, giving you a small peck that managed to make your heart beat harder as you both turned your heads to the side, her head laying on your collarbone as you peacefully watched the commotion.

"I'm so happy you're back." She mused.

"It feels good to be home." You smiled as she hummed.

"Missed you. Thought about you a lot." She mentioned as you squeezed her a little tighter.

"In more ways than one I imagine."

"Rude."

"But not wrong." You teased, nudging her slightly.

"Well, we could slip away if you want."

"Yeah, like that wouldn't make it obvious."

"It wouldn't be as obvious as Percy dragging Annabeth towards his cabin, saying they were going to bed and then winking at everyone."

"Yeah, he didn't get any that night." You chuckled as you turned back to Reyna who had that mischievous glint in her eyes.

"Why do I have a feeling I know what you're going to say?"

"How do you know what I was going to say?" She whispered in your ear, her hand suddenly heavy on your lower back.

"I can read minds."

"And what was I going to say?" She whispered lowly, acting coy and innocent.

"That you're wearing that two piece I like."

She raised her eyebrows, confirming your suspicions as you took her hand and began to drag her towards her room.

"Christ woman, you'll be the death of me."
