The biggest problem with Jason Todd in the comics is they keep trying to use him to show that Bruce’s way is the more morally superior or effective one when the entire point of Jason is that his existence disproves that. He shows how Bruce has failed as a parent and as a hero but since Batman has to be right they keep killing Jason’s character in favor of making Bruce into the right one

Jason dying shows how Bruce failed as a parent and his return as the Red Hood shows the gaps in how Bruce deals with crime fighting. Jason wouldn’t be able to find a niche to fill in Gotham if Bruce’s method was completely superior to Jason’s and more writers need to understand that
