another object i'll have at seattle art book fair this weekend (may 11-12) -- this is "A Longitudinal Study of Deadwood Function in Lowland Forest Ecosystems", it is approximately 2.5" x 30", and it comes inside a (paper) log!

i'll be at table 78 (under Snack Break Studio) with some pals, please stop by and say hi!!

Anonymous asked:

do you have a tip jar or patreon or anything?

ooh i do not because i live a very "sign up for 8 platforms and so immediately forget they exist" lifestyle but if you want to throw a dollar or two at the PCRF or Crips for eSims for Gaza neither has donation minimums i believe!!

i'm sorry did you say street magic

i'm sorry did you say street magic is a game about creating a strange magical city with your friends, it runs completely gmless, and it can either be a fun game to play with friends, or a tool to create a town to play in

Last year I spent vacation on the shore of Lake Michigan. One afternoon, when the weather was cloudy, me and my wife went to a local bakery, and I ate a little chocolate pastry while reading this game. It’s such a delightful text, and the experience of reading it is embedded in my memory as one of my favorite days in a long time.

Also if you purchased an E-Sim in October, November, or the first two weeks of December and it hasn't been activated yet, reply to the email you previously sent to them!

i started 2017 with the extremely ambitious resolution to do tiny daily comics and failed in dramatic, spectacular, entirely predictable fashion. but! i still enjoy some of these quite a bit!

i want to give it another shot next year–the loose, fast scribbling + trying to find something funny/document-able about each day was a really good exercise–but i need to work out a schedule that i can actually stick to

my piece for the @swimonzine! you can get the pdf with over a hundred cool sharks for $1+ here

bull sharks can live in salt and freshwater (growing up in mangroves & salt marshes then migrating upriver or to the ocean), a cool fact i briefly attempted to work into the illustration before giving up and just dumping some weird old tech in there

Perhaps Asher was learning to read their unhappiness too, because she said, “I promised to get you all through here, and I meant it.” “Not all of us,” said Cascabela. They stood a little ahead, and they didn’t look back as they spoke, but it was clear they meant to be heard. Their carapace was a black bulk wreathed in smoke from the flame that burned in their palm. They looked unhelpfully like an allegory.

friends i read in one sitting & truly can't recommend enough The Iron Children -- it's an INCREDIBLE ensemble cast at odds with one another in an impossible situation (war) now forced to work together in a smaller impossible situation (manager quit one day into your internship and handed the entire project to the intern). It's about loyalty and duty, cyborgs, religious ethics…… really really character-driven science fiction at its best!!

i love these STUPID SAD CYBORGS so MUCH please read this book

small note that the iron children is now also available as an audiobook in all the usual places one gets audiobooks
