This is 90% a James Bond blog (Craig!), 5% a blog for the actors, 4% related fandoms (London Spy, Layer Cake, etc), and 1% general fandom and writing things. I probably have opinions on everything. Also I write sometimes.

i think one of the things that frustrates me a lot with fandom is this insistence that relationships and characters are only allowed to be interesting or engaging if they’re healthy or good.

fiction can impact us, but trying to contain what’s “allowed” to be liked in fiction is extraordinarily constraining and boring. nasty characters can be interesting. unhealthy relationships can be engaging. bad characters can be sympathetic. (bad characters SHOULD be sympathetic or engaging or the author’s failed at writing their villain tbh.) no, they’re not an ideal we should aspire to and no they’re not an example to follow but since when is that the only reason we’re allowed to like characters or relationships?

liking problematic and toxic characters doesn’t make you an inherently bad person. finding an unhealthy relationship interesting doesn’t mean you’re condoning them. this weird shaming trend needs to end because it makes being in fandom highly uncomfortable for anyone who likes characters who fall outside of an extraordinarily narrow “acceptable” range.

YEAH SO HARRY AND ELTON?

“Darling if you save the world you can have a backstage pass” is what Elton says to Harry. Word for word.

And remember Kingsman: The Secret Service? Tilde says to Eggsy, “if you save the world, we can do it in the asshole” (which, unfortunately, I doubt any of us have forgotten)

Now, doesn’t “backstage pass” sound like it can be an *ahem* euphemism for some butt stuff? Isn’t there already a theme of saving the world = butt stuff? Tilde even brings it up again in this movie (see: the pre-Glastonbury Fest scene).

There you have it. The rest you can put together into your respective “Harry is gay” theories and all.
